Summary: Horrible Acting
Review: Robert Townsend cannot act. I repeat, this man CANNOT ACT!! His tone deaf voice makes listening to his speech an awful experience to bear, even for your worst enemy. Although the storyline and subject matter is excellent, they should have considered someonelse for Robert Townsend's role. No wonder his sitcom got cancelled!

Summary: Movie Collection "must have" !
Review: This has been my favorite movie since forever. My cousin and I spent like a whole summer when i was about 13 yrs old just watching this 30 times. I really like the part where Eddie is a crackhead and comes back later in his old costume...he's in the back parking lot and opens his jacket while singing "Nights like this, i wish..raindrops would fall". I die with laughter every time, it's terrible how his life turned out. But this movie really shows you the ups and downs and tough times these older groups coming up had. It took a lot to stay together and it was just good quality music, whoever did the covering vocals can really sing well.

Summary: A Modern Day Classic
Review: "The Five Heartbeats" is a modern day classic which loosely follows the career of The Dells. Michael Wright gives an unbelievable performance as Eddie Kain, lead singer of the Heartbeats, whose ego grows to the point that he feels he has the power to fire their manager. Hawthorne James gives a great performance as "Big Red" and it was definitely a treat to see Diahnn Carroll and Harold Nicholas. There are on or two parts in the movie that maybe zip by a little too fast or are under-developed, but all in all, this is an excellent movie that you are sure to enjoy.

Summary: This is a must have
Review: The Five Heartbeats is one of my favorite movies. Robert Townsend does an excellent job. This movie is action packed (The beginning), funny (Big red), and heartbreaking (Eddie on drugs). This movie is one of the best. This is a must have.
