Summary: Great Movie!
Review: I was really suprised at the number of negative (maybe not strong enough of a word?) reviews this movie got! I thought it was FABULOUS! You get to see popular actors and actresses in a whole new light as they showcase their vocal and dance talents, the music is superb, the story is classic . . . It IS a musical, so if you don't like music in your movies, this isn't for you . . . but that doesn't make the movie bad! I'm happy to see film makers doing some unique and different movies, such as Chicago. Its not your average run-of-the-mill film.
Its a very sexy, sassy musical revisited on film and is in every way a real treat to watch!

Summary: the antithesis of Moulin Rouge
Review: Chicago's commentary-like cynicism manages to squeeze its way between the lines of the film while its rare moments of dialogue compete with the well-choreographed dance numbers in an interesting manner that is all but captivating. Of course the movie has a cynical, you-only-get-one-moment-of-fame essence, along with emotional insight on the media circus mentality that has existed...well...existed forever. Nice sentiment, but one I already knew. The question is, 'Why would I care?' And how could I become emotionally attached in any way to characters whose sole function is to whine, backstab, murder, profit...and, oh yes, dance. Musn't forget that one. It isn't that Chicago is a bad movie and it is obviously an expertly performed musical. The only problem is, it just isn't my style. As the second of the first two big film musicals in years, Chicago will forever be compared to Baz Luhrman's Moulin Rouge. Similar in outward context, the films are utterly different. Last words of advice? If you hated Moulin Rouge, check out this one. You'll love it!

Summary: And All That Jazz!
Review: From beginning to end, I adored this movie. By the way, before I start my review, everyone who hasn't seen this movie, don't believe anyone who says that this movie stunk. It HAS a plot, and a very good one to add to that. Suprisingly, I liked the music so much I bought the soundtrack! When I heard this movie was nominated for so many Oscars, I went out to see it, and I found out why. It definitely deserves its Best Picture Oscar, and all the other ones it got! This DVD is gonna be great! Catherine Zeta-Jones did a magnificent job as Velma Kelly, as well as Renee Zellwegger as Roxie Hart. And Richard Gere did a great job as Billy Flynn. I haven't seen the play "Chicago", but I'm sure I will.

Summary: Three A - list actors, what more can i say
Review: This is one of the most amazing films i've ever seen in my life as the costumes, music, plot and acting are amazing. For me Catherine Zeta-Jones was probably the best and definitley deserved her oscar! (Even though she has had bad press recently in the Uk doesnt mean that shes not hugely talented and pretty!)
Anyone whose considering buying this i would tell them to buy it as the songs are soooooooo catchy and will have you singing for months on end! I am living proof.

Summary: best movie of the year by far
Review: the musical is back i a big way. moulin rouge was excellent, but chicago is pure entertainment. the music is the best aspect of the movie. buy the soundtrack and have a good time. catherine zeta jones is worth watching the movie by itself. she totally deserved the oscar. renee is excellent but is overshadowed by catherine. richard gere is awesome as mr billy flynn. he should have been nominated at the oscars. this is the funnest movie ihave seen in a long time. ive seen it three times in the theater and will probably go again. i sit in the theater and sing to every song and i kinda dance in my chair. bravo to rob marshall for making such a wonderful film. the subject matter is serious but the movie reveals the ridiculous side of the news media and how they are easily controlled. this movie defines the purpose of hollywood and their purpose for being there. their job is to entertain, and this movie totally delivers the goods. go see this movie if you want to have a good time and go see this movie if you want an escape from anything. the movie is so upbeat that you cant help but enjoy yourself. i cannot rave enough about this movie and highly recommend it to be seen multiple times.

Summary: Brilliant, smart and yet soulraking!
Review: This musical is a real delight. The songs are very dynamic and pleasant. The choreography is extremely brilliant. The film uses all possibilities it can find and require to transform the screen into a total ballet, with several layers of dancing, especially a background that has its own autonomy and yet takes part in the whole thanks to editing special effects. The film constantly shifts from the real story into the musical construction and imaginary artistic dream. But what can the meaning of this film be ? Just a few questions. Why is the first ever hanged woman in Illinois a Hungarian who does not speak English ? What can we do with the vision of the defense lawyer as a director and choreographer of a superproduction for the best musical theaters ? What can we do with the acquittal of two criminals on the basis of lies and manipulations ? How can justice be that manipulatable ? Isn't it the very negation of justice itself ? And yet the film is highly entertaining and pleasant and tries to show in all possible ways that women are the victims of men and have to organize themselves to resist this male-dominated society, though the lawyer who saves them, if he wants, if he is paid enough, is a man, the very negation of the previous idea. So contradictions and contradictions, and contradictions. And yet these contradictions make the film even more attractive and entertaining by erasing the seriousness of the discourse that lies behind this shimmering, glittering and glimmering surface.

Summary: WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE ON?!?!?!?!?!
Review: TO those who gave Chicago a bad (actually awful is a more appropriate word) review:

What are you thinking?!?! Chicago was amazing and deserved every oscar it got (and then some!) Sure the acting wasn't top notch but it was better than some movies I've seen this year! Ahem, I point to a recent movie that was just released that has to do with a white rapper wannabe! Chicago had amazing music too! How dare you diss Bob Fosse? It's beyond my knowledge how anyone with half a brain could dislike Cell Block Tango... And there was a plot line, I don't know why you people keep saying that! C'mon is there anyone that supports me here or what?

Summary: Worst "Best" Move
Review: The Motion Picture Academy must have been out of their minds to give this film a Best Picture Award. The film is totally miscast (Zellwiger and especially Gere, whose performance is as wooden as Sherwood Forest), and the clumsily-unfolding, simplistic plot is made even worse by second-rate dance numbers which attempt to "jazz up" the story. The only thing worth watching is the first-rate song and dance duet performed by Zellwiger and Zeta-Jones, but that occurs in the last ten minutes of an otherwise overrated movie. I would have had a better time dozing off in an easy chair than watching this drivel.

Summary: Fantastic
Review: Being a fan of the musical for such a long time I prayed they wouldn't mess it up , good news is they made it better! Chicago isn't just a musical now it's a movie masterpeice , the cast are superb.

Renee is just adorable is Roxie and her voice is suited to the role, Richard is fantastic as Billy with his crooning voice and tap dancing he should of got an oscar nomination! and then Catherine .... She was made to be Velma this is her role no if's and's or but's an amazing performance and a very well deserved oscar for her.

All in all if you like musicals or even if you don't I think you will love it as much as I did. With it's great performances and amazing music you can't go wrong.
