Summary: Don Quixote... Inspirational!!!
Review: I watched this video last year in my 6th grade class.. I was really overcome with Cervantes' concept of reality and idealism. It makes you ponder-- "Is truth found in reality or idealism??"... I totally agree that Don Quixote's outlook on things is INSPIRATIONAL! His quote- "I come into a world of iron and make it a world of gold". Life should be seen by everyone like that... Not just the dreamers. Make life what is SHOULD be and not what it is. =-) YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS FILM!!!!!!

Summary: Well intentioned, but pretty bad.
Review: I wanted to love this movie. Unfortunately, the leads lack the singing voices necessary to carry everything off. And for some reason that I can't quite finger the entire production seems stilted. Watch this if you love the novel and already know the show and are willing to make allowances. Don't watch this if this is your first exposure to Man of La Mancha or to Don Quijote.

Summary: Superbly Inspiring!!!
Review: Undoubtedly the greatest musical of all time! What a message of faith, love and hope for a world torn by selfishness and greed. The Man of la Mancha is second to none in my whole family's opinion. We cant wait for it to come out in DVD.

Summary: A great musical mutilated.
Review: I first saw this video in a high school Spanish class. It was a fabulous way to introduce Cervantes and this beautiful story. I immediately went home and asked my mother if she'd ever seen it--she had the soundtrack on vinyl and CD. After listening to the original Broadway cast and watching this video again, I noticed a few things: 1) Peter O'Toole really looks the part, but should not be allowed to sing. 2) Ditto for Sophia Loren. 3) I would have missed out on this wonderful music if not for this video, even if I later decided it was a bad movie. It's still worth watching!

Summary: A must see for all students of Spanish
Review: I have used this video in my Spanish classroom for over 15 years to introduce students to Miguel de Cervantes and his themes of making the world a better place than one finds it, of courage and of hope. It is no wonder that this piece of literature has survived 400 years and is the second most translated book to be printed (the Bible being first). Students are required to identify heroes, and to be able to explain why they "like him" with concrete examples, they discuss madness and reality with definitions, and they write essays comparing Quijote to Martin Luther King, Gandi, Christ, and present day heroes - to include Patch Adams. There is so much that can be done with this awesome video, while inspiring young people to reach for a dream, and to make it happen.

Summary: Long Live Don Quixote !!!
Review: Cervantes knight errant lives! In this day and age of Bill Clinton I think I like Don Quixote even more. The difference between the 2? Don Quixote looks at Aldonza and is upset because his lady is on her knees before him, and our fearless leader Bill Clinton, cant wait to put another woman on hers. See this movie, show it to your children, so that Don Quixote will live forever...

Summary: Very Moving and Triumphant! A true masterpiece.
Review: I have always been facinated by the story of Don Quixote. It has facinated me since I was a young child. My mother had the soundtrack in album form, and I would sit and listen to it for hours. Two days ago, I finally saw the play at a nearby dinner theater, and purchased the soundtrack from the Broadway show afterward. There is really no comparison. The movie soundtrack gives the listener a much better idea of the chatacters, just by listening to their voices. The greatest example of this is Dulcinea, on the Broadway soundtrack, she sounds like an opera singer, whereas in this soundtrack, you can hear the attitude in her voice. It is a truly wonderful CD.

Summary: Everyone should see life as it ought to be, not as it is.
Review: For entertainment this is right up there with Paint Your Wagon and The Frisco Kid.

Summary: Maybe not Broadway, but entertaining just the same!
Review: I have seen the Broadway version with Richard Kiley, rest his soul, and Emily Yancey. It was my first Broadway play, and I went home humming. I watched the movie and bought the soundtrack. The music is enchanting and Sophia Loren is the ultimate Dulcinea. My favorite song is, Golden Helmet of Mambrino. I also think James Coco as Sancho helps to make the movie fun. I do not remember Sancho from the Broadway play.

Summary: for people with a dream
Review: Never a movie could touch our heart so much about our soul's pursuing the impossible dream.
