Summary: Great production numbers!
Review: Unlike the critics and some of the other reviews, i really loved this film version. Granted the transfer was totally different from the stage version just like "Chicago" was this past year. It doesn't mean that it's still not a great film. When it comes to a great lady Dolly Pardon has it hands down. I had the honor of working with her only once at Disney World. She is not only a fabulous singer and very talented but she is wonderful and easy to work with. She shines in the days of pre-madonnas. She is sure gifted in her trade she doesn't have to use her power in a negative way.The production numbers in this film are top rated and the talent from these dancers is what you could compare to Broadway. Just those numbers themselves are worth the price of this film. But one of my favorite characters is "the Governor". His song "Side Step" has become a favorite of mine and many of my friends that i have shown this film to. Now i don't mean anything bad but doesn't this number remind you of Joe Liberman? Not the singing or the dancing but the words to the songs and the reporters comments. If you haven't noticed watch that part very carefully. It's a hoot and it's something i've been saying about Joe for years. (no disrespect)All in all this film is a great way to spend an evening. The wide screen format is beautiful. My only minor problem is that the audio is only in 3.1 with minor surround if using a THX system. The left & right channels are basically used for music and not dialog. I would have thought that Universal would have done a better job putting this on DVD. I'm still glad that i own this gem and you will be too. "You all come back now, you hear?"

Summary: Worth it just to ogle the women, but Durning is good too
Review: Well gosh. Society is mostly a bunch of hypocrites. Politicians read polls and act on that alone. Who'd a thunk it?

Durning's song and dance ought to be played day and night before each election.

Boy, Dolly and the girls sure fill out that lingerie!
