Summary: Wow!!!!!
Review: I had seen this film in the theatre and was mixed in my feelings about it.....but after repeated viewing, I really am amazed that it ever got made (or was embraced by so many people.)

Vacillating between serious and ludicrous (necessary to prevent the film from being overly sentimental) may be difficult to take at first but if you can relax and let it take you away you might be moved in ways you didn't think you would.

If you don't get swept into the emotions of these characters, you probably need to learn some empathy and thaw out your heart. Truly a magical piece of art that has the capacity to both visually entrance you and touch your heart.

It's a beautiful testament to the concept of loving someone "...come what may....until my dying day."
That's something that in our modern fast paced world we may need to be reminded about......

Summary: Not worth paying any price!
Review: We rented it, thank God. Baz Luhrman has the Midas touch in reverse (if you can imagine what I mean). What a waste of young, lovely talent (Nicole Kidman) and the gifted Ewan McGregor. A fertile topic, Moulin Rouge and the delicious city of Paris that was wasted by Luhrman. His is a name we will avoid in the future. But why write more? ...

Summary: The most Captivating film of 2001
Review: There aren't enough words I can use to describe this modern musical masterpiece. As a fan of musicals, I have not seen a movie so captivating, comical, whimsical, romantic, tragic, and overall...beautiful. It is a spectacular love story that we have all heard before but expressed in a way that we would have never imagined. None like I've ever seen before. Best of all, Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman bless the film with their wonderful voices. Not everyone will feel the same way after watching this film, but this is a film that will stay in my heart forever.

Summary: #3 on my top ten list of 2001
Review: I first heard of this film, on like, May or April 2001, and i saw some clips in "Access Hollywood", and it had a stunning cinematography and great production design, unfourtanely i didn't catch it in theaters, so i waited for the DVD, i brought it the first day, and i just setted up the DTS track, and well for the first minute i was totally hooked!, the story is about Christian a 1900 writer who visits France to become part of the bohemian revolution (i am not sure if this was true), he meets at his apartment five bohemian revoloutinaries, one of them is Toulouse Lautrec, then they discover that he is the perfect chance to make the first bohemian show, then they go to the Moulin Rouge, where Christian falls in love with Satine, the star of the Moulin Rouge, and after a really comical sequence, Harold Zidler, who is the leader of the Moulin Rouge and the Duke decide to invest on the show, but the Duke wants Satine, and this is where the problem starts, and i won't give it out the rest, that's up to you, but of course, the film does have its minor flaws, for example that thing that Satine has to sleep with the Duke in order to save Christian's bohemian ending in the play, it's just corny, but still acceptable, the acting between the actors is great, no one fails, Nicole Kidman truly does deserve her Oscar nomination, everyone is perfect, the cinematography is wonderful, it could dizzy you, specially if you have a very big widescreen TV like me, anyways let me get more in depth.
PLOT:****:Well, it seems that the plot is a little bit thin, but still great.
SCREENPLAY:****1/2, wonderful, except for the Duke and Satine thing i mentioned before, it has a great poetic dialouge, and it avoids most of the typical Hollywood cliches.
ACTING:*****:As i said before, there is a great chemistry between Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, everyone is perfect.
CINEMATOGRAPHY:Stunning, and it truly does do a great service to the film.
SOUNDTRACK: ****1/2: I liked all the songs, the problem is that the soundtrack in some songs sound a bit too syntetize, i know they used keyboards to do the music, many other people do it great, but this time was a bit annoying, instead of making it sound like remaking the song, it sounds like if it's parodizing it.

Well, thats it, i truly did loved this film, i recommend it for ages 12 and older, there is some sexual content, but don't worry there is nothing wild or porno you might see

Summary: Is your local video store out of copies of Moulin Rouge?
Review: No problem. Just rent anything else, eat 6 candy bars, drink a case of Coke, and be sure to watch whatever you rent on fast forward. There, you have the general experience. Try to have a few photos of Nicole Kidman nearby, too, to calm yourself down occasionally. To be fair, the film must have been a nightmare to make and edit, and Luhrmann has done an estimable job with that, but it's ultimately one of those experiments that I'm not sure anyone had to really make. If AMPAS had to give this film any Oscar attention, it should've acted in reverse. No nomination for Best Movie, but a nomination for Best Director.

Summary: Moulin Rouge is a girl's best friend!
Review: When I saw the coming attractions for Moulin Rouge I wanted to see it instantly. I already loved Ewan McGregor from Train Spotting and had been following his career from there. I didn't get to see it when it came to theatres though because my husband said it was a sissy movie and he wouldn't go see it. SO I let it go till it came to video. I rented it and watched it while he was at work one day. Reduced to a melted puddle of my former self I basked in the glow of this Excellent film. It has everything anyone (not just girls) could want. It funny, romantic, exciting, has the usual good vs. evil plot, sad, tragic and overall absolutely impressively done as Baz always does. The colors the costumes the songs everything touched me in ways a movie never has before. The best part is when Ewan is singing his version of Elton John's "Your Song" to Nicole and she makes this expression on her face at one point that is just so cute and typical of a silly girl falling in love. It's superb! Not even his version of Romeo and Juliet touched me like Moulin Rouge has. I can't get enough of it now singing the songs knowing the lines, it simply stays with you at all times, once Baz has hooked you, you are done. There aren't enough words nor enough roomk here for me to talk about this movie I can go on for hours!

Summary: The worst movie I have ever seen!
Review: I saw this movie at a friend's "Moulin Rouge" party, so I couldn't leave. Had I been in a theater, I would have left after 30 minutes.
The movie had no character development, wasn't historically accurate, and the music was all rip-offs and remakes.
Don't waste your time or money!
