Summary: Definitely not the TV series!
Review: This movie has very little in common with the TV series. For starters, it has the Monkees jumping off a bridge & swimming with mermaids! It included the great live performance of "Circle Sky"(looks like we made it once again) and some VERY cool visuals(who can deny the absolute visual beauty during "the Porpoise Song"?) The basic point of the movie is to destroy the "teeny bopper" image by making fun of themselves, and the movie as a whole is very cynical. But it is also brilliant in all aspects (including the music, visuals & directing). I must admit, it took awhile before it made sense & it's not hard to see why it wasn't very big when 1st released. But this is definitely an overlooked gem of a movie recommended for those possibly looking for a little bit more mature view of the Monkees.

Summary: Whew, and wow
Review: Overlooked by all the other reviewers so far are the very brief but powerful moments of savage anger at the Vietnam War, then accelerating rapidly toward the height of its unpopularity with the young. The atrocities depicted last all of thirty seconds I suppose but they are a real poke in the eye, contributing to the overall atmosphere of heavy cynicism that dominates this film and equating the Monkees' anger at being chewed by the music industry with the injustices of American war policy. The counterculture wasn't all just fun and games -- they were definitely angry about American culture in many respects. Head's social relevance has faded, but no one can get away with denying that it's a valuable historical artifact at the very least. Genuine art, with a unsettling political subtext. They sure don't make 'em like this any more.

Summary: "And it Looks Like We Made it Once Again!"(Circle Sky)
Review: "Here We Come...... Nope, none of that in this movie. Trying to brake there idealistic covers the Monkees succed in the movie HEAD. My self a monkees fan at an early age did not understand this movie until I was older and had known more about the band. The monkees in this movie try to be everything they weren't in there T.V show, and they succed. If you are not a monkees fan do not buy this movie, maybe rent to see what it's like but most viewers think HEAD is totally WEIRD!

Review: Oh my god. this movie was soooo awesome. The first time I saw it I thought it was cool. The next 5 or 6 times it just kept getting better. have to mention though, that I was not a die-hard monkees fan, but I am now, nd listen to their cd every day.

Summary: they're made of tin, but thats okay!
Review: first, i want to say that this is no doubt the WEIRDEST movie I HAVE EVER SEEN.I wish it was longer. I was afraid it would ruin the way i think of the monkees, you know, like i wouldn't like them anymore. don't worry, you can still watch the t.v. show and you'll still think it's great. the movie DOESN'T change the way you feel about the monkees. I was afraid i would say, "oh this movie is horrible, i don't like the monkees anymore" but i think i like them even more. i think it's funny the way they sneak comments about the way they feel about the show in the movie, like when peter says "I'm the dummy, i'm always the dummy!" and the song in the beginning: "we're made of tin" but this movie is strictly for monkees fans, the other people wouldn't understand at all. (us monkee fans still don't understand most of the movie, no one will) but if your watching the show, you know, if you got a couple episodes on tape, this movie won't spoil the fun monkees episodes!!!

Summary: Definately NOT the show...but great
Review: I understand part of the reason that "Head" didn't do well in theaters. Many of their fans were young girls (as I am) and couldn't accept anything different from the Monkees. Never change is a good thing for someone whose world is turning upside down. On the other hand, "Head" is the best movie I've ever seen. A lot of people don't understand it (I, personally, wonder whether that was half the point of the film), and I don't pretend to understand it. But if you've got an open mind and don't mind people you think of as just pretty faces acting differently from what you've seen, then it's worth your money.

Summary: Shroomin' flick!
Review: I can't say it any better than anyone else has. Bottom line, if you like a good tripped out movie and you aren't too cool to watch a Monkees movie, see "Head", preferably (but not necessarily) under the influence. :) Monkees fan or not, you shouldn't be disappointed!

Summary: Amazing, simply amazing; a total psychedelic classic
Review: It's astonishing how under-appreciated this film is. Forty years of anti-Monkees propaganda from the hipper-than-thou media will take a toll, I guess. The Monkees are still sneered at while the Spice Girls are geniuses, huh? It ain't a fair world. A film no one who doesn't know the TRUE Monkees would ever believe they were capable of making, HEAD is dazzingly subversive and non-linear. The construction is like a wheel, the theme pure Eastern mysticism, and the music is classic breezy Sixties mind-expanding pop with doses of C&W and vaudeville. What an all-round group of entertainers those guys were, and how shabbily pop history has treated them! Truly a brave, demented, inspired, seamless, transcendent voyage through the Bardo of Existence (howzabout a little mo' steam?). The space movie of all space movies. If you don't understand it, you're simply not ready for it yet.

Summary: the monkees in wonderland
Review: this is a very good film for several reasons. although discribed as "a hard days night on acid" i think compareing it to alice in wonderland would be much more acurate. just listening to the opening dialog (hey hey we are the monkees you know we love to please, a manufactured image, with no philosiphies. we hope you like out story, although there isn't one. that is to say there's many, that way it is more fun. you told us you like action, and games of many kinds. you like to dance we like to sing, so lets all lose our minds! we know it doesn't matter cause what you came to see is what we'd love to give you, and give you one two three! but it may come one-two-one-two, or may jump from nine to five, and when you see the ending site the beginging may arive! for those who look for meanings and forms as they do facts, we might tell you one thing, but we'd only take it back! not back like in a box back, not back like in a race. not back so we can keep it, but back in time and space! you say we're manufactured, to that we all agree. so take your choice, and we'll rejoyce in never being free! hey hey we are the monkees, we've said it all before. the money's in, we're made of tin, we're here to give you more! the money's in we're made of tin, we're here to give you more!) strongly reminds me of dialog from alice in wonderland, with a musical twist. it is a very interesting movie, a "cult classic", as it is known. the music all stands up very well. check it out, i think you just might like it.
