Rating: Summary: Tripped-out feast of frollicking fun Review: If you think teenage posters 'The Monkees' were manufactured mainstreamers, then get this movie. Great collage of comical capers and 60's hip one-liners make this film a must for those that know. Mix these with catchy psyche grooves 'Circle Sky', 'Can You Dig It', impressive kaleidescope imagery during 'Purpoise Song' and this must take a place in your prize video vault beside beat films of 'Riot On Sunset Strip', 'Barbarella' and 'Psyche-Out' ilk. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: STRANGE TESTAMONY Review: A rather unlikely coherence of players and writers come together to do one of the stranger films of the 60s. Psychadelic albeit confusing (IS THAT OXYMORONIC?), this weird gem about life in the dessert - a dessert replete with COKE machines - where Mario-like tunnels prevail, and unearthly sliding boards juxtasupose, stars Sonny Liston, Victor Mature, MONKEES, and Teri Garr, was written by Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper, and Peter Fonda. Funded by the for.lsd.com foundation for the enhancement of the high performing arts.com. ????
Rating: Summary: Two very enthuisiastic thumbs up! Review: I have to say that I love that movie, not only because I love Micky but It was just so groovy!!!
Rating: Summary: One of the best movies I have seen!! Review: I am only 15, but I love the Monkees. My friends have finally gotten used to it. I have seen this movie about a million times and everytime, I have the same reaction I did when I first watched it, which was total surprise. It is the trippiest movie I have ever seen and I will keep watching it for years to come!!
Rating: Summary: Unique-A must see for all Monkees fans Review: Definitely a film for all types of movie buffs--The Monkees show the audience their HUMANITY in this film--the subtle sense of humor and the wise antics are all intact--music is excellent, and this is a treat if you haven't seen it--take it from me--a big Monkees fan.
Rating: Summary: Mind Blowing- A must for all Monkees fans young and old . Review: The First time I viewed this film I was amazed at how HUMAN the group presented themselves in it. Creative--one of a kind--definitely a conversation piece type of film--music is excellent--different from the TV series, and showed how the group had grown in three short years.
Rating: Summary: Very strange indeed, but it's The Monkees and I love 'em. Review: This is pretty wild for The Monkees, but they were making a statement about their prefabness and the media's comments about their inability to perform live. I for one loved this movie. It is definitely one of the best cult movies of the decade.
Rating: Summary: The Monkees dismember themselves Review: A collection of bizarre images and black-out gags that reach far beyond the work done on the Monkees' TV show, this movie is more than anything about their frustrations as real artists trapped in a manufactured phenomenon. Screenwriter Jack Nicholson (yes, THAT one), director Bob Rafelson, and the boys in the band pile on the images of entrapment and illusion to create an experience that works even when, looking at the elements, it shouldn't. Supporting players include Victor Mature, Frank Zappa, Ray Nitschke, and Teri Garr. The songs, led by Nesmith's power-pop "Circle Sky" and Tork's pair "Can You Dig It" and "Long Title (Do I Have to Do This All Over Again?)," include some of the band's best work.
Rating: Summary: A Must-see for the Monkee lover!!!! Review: I rented this movie from Family Video only once, and even then, in just 3 days, I had watched it 7 times. It's that good. There are certain parts which could have been better (meaning camera angles and stuff like that), but the humor was definitely the Monkees! If you are even somewhat interested in the guys, you gotta rent or buy this movie!
Rating: Summary: The Monkees were pretty good. Review: Yes, they were good. This movie shows the Monkees not like on the tv series, but much better. This is a very psychodelic movie in which you really feel you are on a trip, a very colorful one. It's obvious that in this kind of movie you cannot demand a whole understandable story, however you can follow what is happening. The sountrack is very cool too. There is specially one song, "The porpoise song", which is very nice, I even imagined The Beatles singing that song. If you wanna feel the way the psychodelic era was, this is a movie you should see. It is really a trip. All aboard.
