Summary: Love it!!!!!!!!
Review: I couldn't ever see this up close on stage, so when a friend told me about it, and I saw it on Great Performances, I had to have it to add to my video library. I'm glad I did. I love everything Andrew Lloyd Webber's ever produced. I'm glad they put this on video.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: Great filming of the musical, but it lacks the magic of actually watching it being performed on stage.

Summary: It was a great musical
Review: The costumes were great, the music was wonderful and the charicters were so realistic, like they were really Cats!!!

Summary: Great for the person who can't see it on stage.
Review: For the last fifteen year from the moment I first heard the music of the London production I have wished to see the play on stage. Now that I have never had the means I can see the show maybe not as it appears on stage but with a means that tells the story of proper cats. The fact that many of the original cast have been gathered for this production makes it that much more enjoyable for me as the record I have has them on it.

Summary: One great song + one great performance = 2 stars.
Review: Not much more to add to my better half's review, but it will probably keep the kids entertained. And if you're a cat fancier, then this is the show for you. Other than that: pffffffftttttttt!

Summary: BRAVO!
Review: Being a dancer myself, I was amazed at their dancing abilities. The voices were incredible. I just can't wait to see the real musical! My favorite is and always will be MR. MISTOFFELEES!

Summary: Theatre close up, family fun, play it loud, for kids love it
Review: My family didn't like it the first time. It was different. The more you see it, the better it gets. My children love it and want to see it daily. Turn on the closed captioning for added enjoyment in understanding the words. Play it through a surround sound unit. My children now love watching ballet. (we snuck it to them with this video.) It's catching, the music plays in your head.

Summary: Cannot compare to live show on Broadway...
Review: Cats is an in-person experience. I just saw the show on Broadway for the second time - the Cats touch you, dance with you, stare at you, climb all over your chairs - it is amazing! The video was so disappointing - the annoying British accents, the elimination of certain songs; you are not watching theatrical production, you are watching a TV show. I understand that ticket prices for Broadway are expensive, and I suppose this video will introduce you to the wonderful songs and characters. My five-year son loves it! If you ever have a chance to see it live - dont miss it!

Summary: Buy the CD
Review: Only a die hard Cats fans will appreciate this video. First of all, theatre is meant to be viewed at a theater; you lose something in the translation of media. While have been successful presentation of theatre on video (eg. Les Miz, Into the Woods), this failed. If you are a true lover of the theatre and Cats, don't taint your "Memory" of the production by viewing this. Instead buy the CD, one of the previously mentioned taped productions. Or one of the many films that have been based on a musical/play (eg. The King and I)
