Summary: A must see for anyone who loves the musical theatre
Review: Cats- Now and forever...with this video it becomes clear why CATS has become Broadway's longest running and most succesful musical production to date. Elaine Paige, recreating her role as the original Grizabella, is perfection. Her rendition of the haunting "Memory" is worth the price of the video alone. Spectacularly staged and photographed, this video has nearly succeded in bringing the live theatrical experience into the home. Had the vocals been sung live (rather than lip-synched) I would have given it a perfect 5 stars. Even so, this is a glorious tape. A must see for anyone who loves the musical theatre and a great way to introduce newcomers to this wonderous art form. Bravo, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber!

Summary: Another one for the Blooper Reel!
Review: The video is absolutley wonderful..even if they cut out "Growltiger's Last Stand" and shortened many of the other numbers. There are however quite a few mishaps which happen in the video--Demeter's legwarmer in "Macavity" seem to have a mind of it's own. Cats in the background dissapear when the camera changes. Maybe Mistoffelees was getting revenge from the cheezy special effects they used in his act?

All-in-all a good video--even with the bloopers.

Summary: Suprising...
Review: Even though I am not familiar with the world of musicals, I do know a great deal about music, and I know that this is great! The cast is very good, espescially (or so I thought) in the performance of "Jellicle Ball." To me the whole magic of the production was...suprising...

Summary: Certainly brings back "Memories"
Review: Having seen the New York show a couple of times, I acquired this DVD without so much as a second thought. It is certainly a good keepsake. I found the video crystal clear and very well done; especially when compared to Lord of the Dance (DVD). Colours, details and close ups in Cats were excellent. The difference in video between these two (Cats and Lord of the Dance) is like DVD vs VHS (with Cats far superior). I did notice however that in one or two places the picture "jumped" and this is the first time I have ever experienced it. The Dolby digital audio is quite good, especially when there were vocal numbers. However, I found the surround sound to be somewhat lacking especially during orchestral only passages. I think better use could have been made of the rear channels. I would have given this DVD five stars but the video jumps and the weak surround sound brought it down to four. Otherwise, a very good addition to my movie collection. If you saw Cats and want a video version of it, then acquire the DVD despite its minor shortcomings.

Summary: Find your cat's personality
Review: A must-see for all cat lovers and a great introduction to theatre for children of all ages. It was fun to look for my own cats personalities as each cat was introduced. Great music as always from Andrew Lloyd Weber.

Summary: Only 5 stars! Are you kidding!
Review: I hate to be the millionth person to write a review here but the movie was so fabulous I can't help it. Anyone trying to see whether or not to buy this video should buy it. Though I've never seen it on stage, (I saw it on PBS which prompted me to buy the video) and everyone is saying the video does not compare to the live show, I think if the stage production is half as good as the video it would be worth spending hundreds of dollars on it. My main favorites are The Rum Tum Tugger and Mr. Mistoffolees. The characters AND the songs. In short this movie is well worth $17.47.

Summary: Phenomonal!
Review: What a great idea to put the much loved CATS musical on film for those who have never seen it, can't afford theater tickets or live too far away from a performance! I first saw it on PBS and was very impressed and saw it again and again when I got it for Christmas. True a theater performance is to be desired but if not settle for 2nd best! Kudos to the people that played Victoria, Mr. Mistofflees, Old Deuteronomy, Jemima, Grizabella, Rum Tum Tugger, and many more. They are terrific!!

Summary: If you love the soundtrack you'll like the movie
Review: I've waited 12 yrs. to see this show and it was good, but not what I expected to see. They cut one of the best parts out of the show and also added something not even on the soundtrack. I first heard of CATS when I was 11 and fell in love with the music and try as I might, have yet to see the show live. Please put in Grumbleshanks last stand the next time you make this vidio. The one thing that really disapointed me was that I saw the show on chan.2 Boston and then spent $20 to own the vidio. It was the same show, we all thought the full show would be on the tape. Just next time make sure people know they are getting the same thing on tv when Joseph comes out next year. Other than that the show was great, keep up the good work. And thank Ken Page for keeping with us new generation CATS fans!

Summary: First DVD I played...Elaine Paige is great!
Review: I just bought a DVD player and this was the first disc I played. After seeing the tape, the DVD picture/sound was so much better. The best thing of this disc has to be Elaine Paige. Hearing her belt "Memory" (which I have in person) is a thrill. "Cats" has never been one of my favorite shows, but this is a great memory of it.
