Summary: Entirely too frenetic.
Review: Saw Cats performed twice on stage - couldn't have enjoyed it more! The movie version was entirely too disjointed. I thought John Mills was pathetic, even though I have enjoyed his past performances. This version was a complete DUD!

Summary: Cats, Feild Show by Center High School, CA
Review: My marching band in Antelope, CA did Cats for our field show. Our color gaurd was running around in little cat costumes with cat makeup on their faces, everyone at our compations would be like what school are you from, we would say "Cemter High School" then they would say, "Your doing Catsa right, man I missed that show again, next time I won't miss it" so that is how Center High School got to be known in N. CA

Summary: THIS IS BY FAR, MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: The very first I ever heard of this movie, was when my friend saw it on Broadway. She told me of how great it was and I was curious to see it. She bought it even before it came out, and invited me over to watch it once it had arrived. The moment it started I knew it would be something special, and it was. I have seen many Musicals and I am a huge theatre fanatic and as I said, this is by far my favorite movie of all times and everyone did a great job making it. The only characters I didn't feel were stunning were Old Deutoronomy (Ken Page) and Gus the Theatre Cat (Sir John Mills). Otherwise, I loved every aspect of this and since I got it two months ago I've seen it well over 100 times. I've seroiusly become obsessed with it and there isn't one mistake I haven't noticed and even thought there is the occasional editing flaw, that doesn't take anything away from the movie at all. Since I've seen the movie, I have also seen it live and I think they both are excellent. I give a HUGE applause to whom ever was in charge of casting because it was an excellent job. My all time favorite chaiacter is the incredibly sexy John Partridge as Rum Tum Tugger, then Jacob Brent as Mr. Mistoffelees and lastly Bombalurina ..(can't think of her name...) The choreography is amazing and had I been in charge, I would not have changed a thing. If you haven't seen it then I strongly suggest you do. Believe me, you don't know what your missing. (ps. If you have any info or pics of John Partridge I would GREATLY appreciate it if you'd send it to me or if your as big a Cats fan as me, please e-mail me!! thanx) -Leigh

Summary: "This astounding display of playful creativity is great"
Review: When I first saw this on video, I was breathtaken. It was one of the greatest theatrical concerts I had ever seen. This will forever stay in my mind as being the best of the best in Broadway. Crystal Thompson, 14

Summary: SUPERB! MAGICAL! GREAT! WONDERFUL!
Review: Cats is a great musical. I've never seen the broadway show, but I bet it won't beat this video! I was so dissapointed when I read some of the other reviews on this page! *#$%*#$&#$^*&$^&*$^(^@#^^*$^*#%^&!#^#%&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't belive it!!!! I'm soooo obsessed about it! I like it so much, I recorded the songs on to a cassette tape! OVERHYPED?!?! BORING?!?!?! Are You NUTS?!?!? anyway, I recommend this video to anyone all ages except for kids 5 and under because Rum Tum Tugger's song and Macavity's song has some (ahem) unappropriate close-ups. Besides that, this video (according to me) has no flaws. GET IT!!!!!!!!

Summary: One of the longest MTV style videos on the market!
Review: First of all, the music is wonderful. I loved the show and all the music from it, and the music is there, in all its splendor, wonderful to listen to. But, if I want to hear the music, I listen to the CD. I was looking forward to a video that would capture my joy in seeing the staged performance. This doesn't come near! There are changes in camera angle every 3 or 4 seconds. Very effective for a 3 minute MTV video, but extremely annoying for a full-length video. Shows are choreographed to be seen from the orchestra section - that is, the front. This video shows the musical from the front, back, above, below, both sides, angled, you name it.

Summary: Full of color, music and humor.
Review: I got this video for christmas. I watched it and i absolutely loved it! The dance is beautiful. The music is great, and the tune gets stuck in your head (not that that's a bad thing). Effects are great and give a good touch to this wonderful show. If you're thinking of seeing it, go for it! You'll love it the first time

Summary: CATS RULZ
Review: Don't listen to the other reviews. Cats is a great video and should be in every home in the world. Cats is one of my favorite musicals and the video and Elaine Paige are great.

Summary: Okay, this is the last review, I promise!
Review: I have already reviewed this twice but I have to say one thing. All those reviewers who have said that the movie doesn't match up to the live performance are probably right. No camera can capture the energy and magic of a live performance of anything, from a marching band to a professional singer. But, there are many people out there who just will never get to a theater. Movies like this give those people a chance to enjoy the theater in the best way possible. So think twice before badmouthing this movie. Some of the best films ever were made on a limited amount of money (Star Wars, for example). I hope to someday make it to London or New York to see the musical, but until then, this movie is all I've got. The same is true for many others as well. (And I have a hard time believing that I will ever see someone do a better job than Michael Gruber or Elaine Paige, whether it is a live performance or not!)
