Summary: great show
Review: this is a great concert dvd.the band and sound mix are terrific.how many bands can you hear piano and electric guitar playing at the same time.meatloafs voice is very very good.the musicians especially the guitar players are top notch.there are some mild disappointments.the piano player is good but not excellent like meatloafs previous piano player in earlier 90s tours.previous tours showcased the piano playing and improvisations more.also a lot of great meatloaf songs were missing-rock and roll dreams.heaven can wait, original sin, rubber meets the road and my favorite -wasted youth.i see tons of concerts and own many concert dvds.meatloaf in intensity is in a league with bono and bruce springsteen.he shows a passion and gives it his all.what i love about his music is that the songs are long and different from the albums and have tons of choruses.the guitar improvisations in this concert were clear and excellent but as mentioned before the piano impros were lacking.it is unfortunate that there are not many mealof concert dvds out there besides this one.othere of my favorite concert dvds are princes sign of the times, u2 elevation in boston, springsteen 2001 madison square garden and cyndi lauperes first newly released one.overall any meatloaf fan has to get this dvd along with his around the world cd which i wish was also a concert dvd(THAT CD IS GREAT-BETTER PIANO THEN THIS CONCERT BUT ALSO MISSING MY FAVORITE SONG WASTED YOUTH).ALSO WOULD RECCOMMEND NEW RELEASE OF OLD 1992 SPRINGSTEEN DVD FROM MTV.

Summary: Excellent
Review: A high energy performance in 2004 in Australia. Overall, this is a must see for Meat Loaf fans and recommended for those who have never heard of him. This is Meat Loaf's best dvd by far. This one is a keeper. The encore performance of "Bat Out of Hell" is spectacular.....

Summary: Great, but not perfect!
Review: After reading all the previous reviews that were all positive, I thought that I should point out a few things that were less then perfect on this video. When I first started it, I was very disapointed by the video quality. The video quality of the opening sequence was terrible! It did improve, but it lacked the clarity of some other well known concert videos. Camera angles were good, and overall camera work was pleasent...but the clarity could have been better. At least it was in widescreen. I should point out I was watching this on a 73" HDTV. But I have viewed many other concerts that had crisper images then this.

Sound - overall great, but very limited use of the multi-channel. Even between the front channels, there was little or no seperation. I walked up to my front speakers, and the exact same sound was coming from each left and right front, with hardly anything in the center. Compared to other staple concert videos, this could have been better.

With that said, those things faded the longer I watched it...I found myself turning the volume up more and more with each song. The energy and chemisty between Meat and the band was amazing.

I give it 5 stars for the performance, but the technical side of hte DVD could have been better.

Summary: A performer like no other....
Review: I think you either get Meat Loaf or you dont. But regardless of that i think every music fan should witness this DVD at least once in their lifetime -- ok, so im probably a little bias because i happen to get what it is that Meat Loaf is about and i shudder to imagine a world so dull without this great man and his songs. I've heard alot of his performances throughtout his phenomenal three-decade career -- but this one is without doubt his best.

The live versions on here of those timeless classics make the original studio recordings seem positively subdued. Meat's voice booming and soaring to newly found heights of power and emotion, with his trademark streaming notes almost tearing the arena from its foundation. Quite remarkable to consider that Meat underwent heart surgery only two months prior to this show -- and fought various boughts of illness throughout this gruelling fifteen month world tour, billed as the last. If this is the end of the road for Meat and his live shows he goes out on top.

Meat Loaf is in a league of his own -- over the top and somewhere on the other side -- theres no other performer out there to compare him with, and he makes other so-called performers today seem as exciting as a crash course on tapestry. And while other 'A-list' artist's seem to spend their careers snitching between the pages of celebrity magazines -- Meat Loaf has largely avoided the world of celebrity and just gone out there and done the job. A singer and a actor -- Meat is a true artist who seems able to work with any canvas. Dont get me wrong, im from the younger generation of music fans but i just know true showmanship and real kick-ass rock when i come across it.

The orchestra works magically -- infact, the songs sound like they were written with a grand orchestration in mind. The orchestra doesnt drown out Meat's band (a band that he so rightly declares as the greatest rock band in the world) and he aint wrong -- they are all performing legends in their own rights - even Kasim Sulon's in there. Patti Russo is as mind blowing as ever -- and why does she not have a recording deal?

The show doesnt rely on special effects -- Meat is his own special effects, although the lighting is awesome, the fire canons are really kewel and the choir boys are a fantastic addition. The sound is real good -- although more attention could have been paid to the mixing of the DVD as someone on occasion has forgot to level out the audience noise when they cut between songs and it sounds quite crude. Dont get too excited about the extra features -- i rate them two stars from five. The behind the scenes footage is acted out like a sketch that repeats for each band member, its entertaining enough i guess. The commentary track gives new insights into the songs, the Meat and the band -- but to be honest, i just wanted to hear Meat sing.

All in all, this is one of the best DVDs that you could own -- Meat works his ass off and earns the cover price you pay one hundred times over with a performance delivered like the lives of his children depended upon it. Yes, he is without doubt the king of rock. Big respect and much gratitude to Meat Loaf for this baby.

Summary: I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS DVD
Review: I thought I would never spend time writing a review, but for this DVD I must. This DVD makes me so happy to view, it is hypnotic. I can watch many songs, especially CHSIABM, over and over and over. It is an incredible performance, even if you never heard of "MEAT LOAF" you will agree. Please check it out.

Everything is just perfect, Meat Loaf himself, Patti Russo (please check her out on TranSiberian Orchestra's Beethoven's Last album too, her voice is just so nice and powerful), this CC that I never heard of before, and all the musicians. And to Meat Loaf fans--an orchestra adds so much, trust me, it is like seeing the songs redone as I think they were intended.

i could continue on and on, but just trust me, this is hypnotic. You will view some songs so many times and never get tired of them.

Summary: Meat Knocks Another One 'Out of the Park!'
Review: In a word.....amazing! Everything you could ever hope for from a Meat Loaf concert is in here....the conviction and performance that I have admired in Meat for so many years is flawlessly captured in this DVD. This DVD is a showcase for the amazing talent of Meat and those he chooses to surround himself with: Patti, Kasim, Paul, John, Mark & CC and the MSO is the added ingredient that sends this DVD up and over the top! If Meat really has hung up his touring shoes....then I can think of no better souvenir from the most quintessential performer that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing! Way to go Meat!

Summary: How a Rock show should be done.
Review: Meatloaf and band put together on heck of a show here. The only downside here (a shame really) is second disc is not that good at all- hence the 4 star rating. Instead of getting a true behind the scenes glimpse /and interviews of putting this wonderful show together-you get a gag reel type of featurette which lasts about 15 min. This continues into the Q&A with the man himself which you cant take as a serious session with the artist and that lasts about 10 min. So disc 2 which lasts under 30 min not only lacks good bonus features-it wears thin from lack of substance and thats rather dissappointing. BUT While you can toss the second disc-The First one the show is a keeper for sure...a Kick-arse tour deforce of intensity and passion. Meatloaf and company at the top of their game. Disc one gets 5 stars while disc 2 gets only 1. A must have for any rock fans collection.

Summary: WOW!!!!!!!!
Review: This DVD is a "must have" for any Meat Loaf fan. I just can't say enough good things about it. From start to finish, it's just totally awesome!!! The DVD has excellent sound and picture quality and Meat Loaf gives the performance of a life time...
Meat Loaf, performing with the MSO, is the way Bat Out Of Hell, was always ment to sound. Plus you can watch it 2 ways-- 1) as you would watch any other dvd and 2) with Meat Loaf giving a fun and interesting commentary throughout the concert. Plus the bonus DVD, that includes a humourous featurette, a Q&A segement with Meat, about the dvd and a picture gallery. I felt this DVD was more... than worth the price. Imho, it is the best "Live Performance Video", he's ever done, and if I could give this DVD 10 stars I would.
