Summary: Great Concert, A Few Sound Problems Early On
Review: I originally gave this three stars but after listening to the entire concert I raised it to four. There are definitely some sound problems early on but they were pretty much resolved by about 25 minutes into this 2 hour and 50 minute concert. It was apparant there was no sound check and the sound engineers had to make adjustments as the band played on. They were successful however and for the most part the sound is fairly good. Rush puts on a tremendous show playing songs from throughout their career. I would recommend this for all Rush fans as well as anyone wanting to see a great band.

Here is the track listing:

Tom Sawyer
Distant Early Warning
New World Man
Roll The Bones
Earthshine
YYZ
The Pass
Bravado
The Big Money
The Trees
Free Will
Closer To The Heart
Natural Science
One Little Victory
Driven
Ghost Rider
Secret Touch
Dreamline
Red Sector A
Leave That Thing Alone
O Baterista
Resist

Summary: An new low in sound quality
Review: These recordings CD and DVD sound terrible. Save your money. The positive reviews must be written by record company relatives because these is simply sub par merchandise. It's too bad I can't get my money back for an opened item. I'd take it back if I could but they would only take it back if it's defective, which it is, but apparently everyone elses is too.

I've been a rush fan for over 25 years and I feel cheated by this puchase that I made based on the RUSH's reputation.

The music companies wonder why sales are down. They blame piracy and the Internet. Maybe if they put out some decent quality product people would buy more. If you don't believe the negative reviewers here, "preview" it FIRST so you don't waste any of your hard earned cash on this lousy recording of a truly GREAT band.

Maybe if we all team together we can get a class action lawsuit against the music company, and get our money back.

Summary: Bit of a letdown...
Review: I'd been waiting for months for the DVD and CD to arrive, and now that I've seen / listened to both, I'm a bit disappointed. The sound, especially vocals, are really sub-par. Vocals are very weak and the bass seems to overshadow just about everything that the crowd doesn't. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to add it to my collection, but it's just not what I was hoping for, especially having seen them on this tour in person. If you really want a great live recording of Rush, check out "Different Stages."

Summary: Never leaves my player!!!!!
Review: I love it, excellent, i am so sick of crappy bootlegs, so this is a real treat. The best looking video ever. and the sound isnt as bad as people say. maybe i am just happy to have it.. The only thing i will complain about is, why is it so hard to get dvds and cds out of these diffcult trays they come in, almost like they will break. Some one who has the cd help me out? Does it come with a mini vapor trails tourbook?? Now for finding the 75 anthem easter egg. go to o bastrio and use your FF button hit it 5 times and you should get it.. hope this helps...

Summary: Rush in the Third World - can't hear Peart's drums!!!
Review: Rush in Rio was a nice concept, but the fans are so loud and fanatical, they upstaged the act. They should have featured a concert in North America. I don't mean it racially, it's just culturally, the Brazilians seem to be very loud.

The first half of the CD's sound is awful. The instrumental is mushy, Lee's vocals are unintelligible. If I didn't know the words to the songs, I wouldn't have known what he was singing. Some songs took me more than a few seconds to know what song they were playing. Normally, I can name a song in two seconds or less if someone plays me the studio versions.

The worst part of the whole thing was that I could barely hear Neil Peart's drumming, which is half the reason I love Rush. The second half of the concert seems better as the crowd calms down. I have to admit, the drum solo was so good that it alone justifies purchasing the DVD.

This DVD will be a nice addition to my collection, but I am very disappointed in the sound. It's like paying retail for a bootleg. (By the way, I've never bought a bootleg, but I can only imagine). I'm sure Rush's days are numbered as they are aging. I don't know how they can endure the length of their concerts. My arms ached from fatigue just watching Peart drum. It's just ashame that the most talented instrumental trio in rock history is ruined by lousy sound mixing. They may not have many more attempts.

Summary: Improves with age like a fine wine
Review: WOW, to say the least. RUSH has come along way since it's early days. I had no problem(s) with sound, mixing, or anything else for that matter. Great CD and DVD a good addition to any die hard RUSH fans coveted collection.

Summary: Next time hire a sound engineer
Review: I'm sorry. I love Rush, but the sound quality on this DVD is bad. The video is fine, but the audio could have been so much better. Play this on a killer system and you will be very disappointed. The vocals are the worst. Not much louder than the excessive crowd noise which is mixed in. If you want to hear how good a live music DVD can be, check out Led Zeppelin. Totally awesome. But I wish I hadn't wasted my money on this. What a shame.

Summary: Good but Geddy's vocal mix is not out in fron
Review: Anybody else agree that Geddy's voice is even with the music...it needs to be out in front more...everything else is great!!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: rush in rio
Review: I just got the DVD today and watched the first hour. The sound quality sucks, even on my killer system! Geddy sounds like he's singing with a pillow over his face. The picture quality is good though. I've seen these guys in concert 6 times and have always been dissapointed with the sound. They need to fire there sound engineer. Because I'm a die-hard fan I still give it 3 stars.

Summary: Good, but...
Review: I agree that the mixing on the vocals is awful. The music is otherwise, great, as I'm a rabid Rush fan.

The Boys in Brazil documentary is okay, but it has too much of Alex clowning around for my tastes. Also, the Spinal Tap-esque "soup" joke was dumb and overdone. Just show me what it's like to be on tour, don't try to do Spinal Tap.
