Summary: Long Time Coming....
Review: ...being a huge Pat fan I have longed for the day when a proper concert featuring she and Neil would come along. Finally it has.

Both are in top form and the new songs from the upcoming album that they choose to hightlight are in par with this past classics. Always above almost everyone, the songwriting on the new tracks adds depth and brilliance...two things missing from today's music.

The interviews featured are great to give you a in-depth look at how they work together and create their magic together.

The only drawback of this disc, and the only reason that it didn't get a perfect '5' score is that I wish it had been done in 5.1. The music is great though in it's two channel mix and sounds crisp and the visuals are crisp as well.

Pat and Neil prove that they can stand along side and show the newcomers of music what it is all about...and do a better job of it. Live-Summer Vaction Tour shows this Rock Diva at her best!

Summary: She still rocks your sock off!!!
Review: Ahhhhhh Pat, how many hours did I spend looking at your "Live In Concert" poster, with that tiny black mini skirt and matching tiny black singlet, hanging off my bedroom wall all those years ago. Hang on, I'll just get it out again.
Well, things all came back to me when I saw this brilliant DVD. Great concert, and she still looks beautiful. But not only that!!! She sounds brilliant!!!! Really brilliant!!! Still has that rough edge and then melts into the smooth sultry voice just before hitting you with her best shot, right between your eyes.
I always totally loved the guitar playing with all of her songs, so to see Neil as a balanced part of her show was new to me and a great surprise. Sorry I missed you Neil during the '80's, but I'm with you now.
So the obvious question now is, when are you guys coming to New Zealand to rock us in person??!!!

Summary: A great getaway "vacation"...
Review: I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Pat Benatar perform last summer, singing her heart out on such popular hits like, "Invincible", "Hell is for Children" and countless others. This DVD displays the vocal range and amazing stage presence that Pat clearly has not lost since her reign as the "Queen of Rock" in the 80's. She looks and sounds incredible. The DVD has some great new takes on some old favorites such as "We Belong" and "Love is a Battlefield", which were sung accoustically. 4 new songs are performed as well. The best new song is "Girl" from her forthcoming CD due out in early summer. If you have the opportunity to see Ms. Benatar live, don't miss out. She will ROCK your world!!

Summary: Middle-aged version of '70s/'80s rock
Review: I was a big Neil Giraldo fan back in the day. Pat Benatar was the only woman rocker I ever paid to see, while I went to all the big early '80s shows (Stones, Who, Scorpions, Van Halen (twice), REO, Kiss (twice), ZZ Top, David Crosby, Foreigner, Molly Hatchet, et al.). In fact, I was at the 1981 (or was it 1982?) Austin, TX, Pat Benatar show in the Erwin Center that was recorded and released as "The King Biscuit Flower Hour Live." What a difference!

On this new DVD, Benatar never attempts to sing the upper register notes that once featured so prominently in famous songs such as "We Live For Love," "Promises in the Dark," etc. One can only guess that her vocal range is not what it used to be. Pity.

In addition, the ensemble here is guitar, bass, drums, keys, and Pat. For my money, Benatar's music was far better in the early, 2-guitars days; at least there aren't any hyper-keyboard arrangements on this DVD, but you should be forewarned that this is a one-guitar recording. Giraldo is still great, but take that for what it's worth.

In summary, then, I would recommend getting this to see if you already like Pat Benatar. If not, you should start with her early recordings to get a feel for what all the hype was about. The songs are still fun, but it's not the same as it once was.

Summary: Superb!
Review: I was flipping through my directv in early April and tuned in to this concert that was being offered free every weekend and was floored.I knew Pat could sing and Neil could play but man was I impressed by what I was seeing and hearing.I'm not the biggest fan ever but like their music.I have one cd of theirs. This covers so many styles. Not enough is said about Neil and his guitar prowess so I'm saying it,he is very talented!I'll also say Pat is THE BEST female rock vocalist ever!Yes, based on this performance. Both Neil and Pat have gotten better with experience where others have not.Casual fans as well as hard core fans will be thrilled with this dvd.I can't think of one negative thing to say about this performance and really can't understand how anyone else could while being objective.

Summary: Great show!
Review: I'm a big Pat Benatar fan, & I had the great pleasure of seeing her live myself at her only Sydney concert a few years back. I also had the 'Live in Newhaven' video, which, although very old, showcased her talent. So I was really looking forward to the arrival of this DVD (& thankful I had thought to purchase a multi-regional DVD player!).
I was not disappointed!
Pat's voice is better than ever, & she remains one of the best live performers I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. The show is terrific, & includes a lot of her old classics as well as some new material.
There are also extras, by way of interviews with Pat & her husband/guitarist Neil Geraldo, where they explain where many of the songs came from.
Buy this, & see a performer who can really sing live, without all the hype!

Summary: It's Just Sad
Review: It's just SAD when ex-rockers fail to recognize that their day has come and gone... and gone... and gone.

My take is that this is a last-ditch effort to ca$h in on fame-gone-by.

But it's just sad!

Summary: Pat Is Better Than Ever!
Review: Pat Benatar in concert is a great DVD for Pat Benatar fans. For Rock'N'Roll fans it will be a real treat to see her new arrangements and presentation of her classic songs couple with the new rhythms that she and her husband, Neil Geraldo, have created.

The concert and production value of this taping is great. The sound mixing is wonderful and enhances the concert experience. The DVD has a few extras too. A behind the scenes interview with Pat and Neil discussing the new songs, the old songs, the family, traveling, touring, the fans and more.

High energy and a lot of passion is what this concert has and I am a big fan of hers so I was a little partial but I actually have seen her twice in concert. Recently and when she was hot 20 years ago. And let me tell you, she looks and sounds better today then she did way back when. You'll really enjoy this concert. 7-30-02
