Summary: damn good
Review: As read below the original name for this video was "Heartland Reggae", the publisher shamelessly put Bob Marleys name in (even though he only sings 2 songs) to make money. In fact they didnt need to do this because the real star of thi show is jacob Milla, he absolutely stole the show with his performances. This is the only show Ive seen on DVD that accurately shows the jamaican reggae scene in its entirety. Even though Bob was the greatest, he was by no means the only top class reggae singer out there as this film attests. I watched this a couple years ago on vhs and when i saw it out on dvd i had to get it, the sound and picture is dated and i dont think there was any remastering at all. The vhs was in mono, im glad they upgraded that to stereo, I just feel fortunate to own this so I can witness what the reggae scene was like back in the day. They film from the biggest concerts in the capital to the out of the way ones in the countryside, i truly enjoyed this and if you into reggae I cannot recommend this strongly enough

Summary: Waist of Money
Review: First of all, this DVD is very very misleading with a picture of Bob Marley on the cover. I waatched the first 35 mins of it and it was horribe, it looks like some stoned rasta got a couple of home videos and put them together, there was not even any editing done, it just goes from one video to another. There are actually black-outs in the film.

This is by far the worst DVD I have seen. There is no commentary or anything. The only consolation is that I did not pay a lot for it.

This DVD is very very misleading for BOB fans, because it gives the impression that he the main star of the movie. Thank GOD for people like Jeremy, and other producers who take their time and produce quality documentaries for reggae lovers.

This DVD is a hoax

Review: Great reggae education program containing scenes from the One Love Peace concert that occured in mid 70's down in Jamaica featured everyone from Jacob Miller and his Inner Circle to The Might Almighty Bob Marley! This DVD feature the historic footage of Mr. Music bringing together two opposing leaders of Jamaica for the first time, ever! Wow! You get to watch Bob freaking out to what ever he consumed before the show very clearly with the DVD traetments! My wish list is to get a reggae historian to tell us all about the artist involved in this woodstock of Jamaica festival through audio commentery! Peter Toshe gives an awsome performance here and we can jump right to it!!! Haile' Sallise'! Ja! Rastafarai! ... remeber it was made in the 1970's ! Be thankful they released this at all!!!:) The Country Man, Bob Marley live from california, bob Marley live from Germany are on my wish list next for anyone reading this!!! Mahalo plenty! S:)

Summary: This may be the puffinist video ever made!!!
Review: Includes amazing concert clips of Peter Tosh, U-Roy, Jacob Miller, and of course Bob. If you enjoy all sorts of reggae you should get this video. Special appearences by the largest dreadlocks you have ever seen, and a rasta Jackson 5.

Summary: Reggae History lesson
Review: It amazes me how clueless people are about Jamaican culture, Rasta culture and what Bob Marley truly stood for. This video should be required viewing for all students of roots & culture.

It's kind of old & funky. Great coverage of some early concerts including Dennis Brown & Bob Marley.

Summary: Great content but low budget
Review: Love this dvd. Lots of live footage of reggae in the 70s in JA. The sound and picture quality is OK, could be better but this is [an inexpensive] DVD and way worth the price.

Summary: Bob Marley: Heartland Raggae DVD
Review: MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. THIS EXPOSE POSSESSES ALL THE ATTRIBUTES OF AN AMATEUR PRODUCTION. THE SOUND QUALITY IS HORRIBLE. THE VISUAL IMAGES LACK THE ARTISTRY SO DESERVING OF THIS ROCK/REGGAE ICON. IN FACT, YOU SEE VERY LITTLE OF BOB MARLEY. I THINK THIS IS A TYPICAL EXAMPLE OF A PRODUCTION COMPANY'S ATTEMPT TO CASH IN ON THE MARLEY PHENOMENOM. MARLEY, AND HIS FANS, DESERVE BETTER. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE DVD COVER. IT HARDLY CONVEYS THE MAGIC OF THE MUSICAL GIFT THAT IS BOB MARLEY.

Summary: outstanding documentary
Review: OK It's a little cheesy that the dvd has been retitled 'Bob Marley' rather than the original flick's name, just plain old 'Heartland Reggae'. Nonetheless, it's a more valuable document than merely any old live Marley footage could possibly be. It is a mind-boggling picture of one country coming together under apparently a national music. Can you imagine GW Bush and Al Gore getting motivated by I don't know Linkin Park to come on stage at a huge concert and shake hands? The equivalent happens at the end of this movie. Further, placing Marley in the context of fellow stars who never quite made it off the island like Jacob Miller and U-Roy just gives you that much more insight into what the heck he was doing and where he came from.

OK, the sound does not surround and the footage is occasionally blurry, but the document is invaluable. What blues fans wouldn't give for a comparable view of Chicago in the 50s, never mind Mississippi in the 30s.

Review: This dvd is great! I would recommend this dvd to all bob marley fans. But not just bob marley. With performances by Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Jacob Miller, Marcia Griffiths, And others. This dvd also includes the 1978 "One Love Peace Concert",featuring Bob Marley. With songs like, "Natty Dread", "War","Jah live", and "Jammin'". This dvd is simply great. Even though the sound quality and picture isn,t that great but brings my rating down to four stars. This is still a great dvd though.

Summary: Buy this for the live footage
Review: This DVD is worth picking up for the live footage of Jacob Miller, Peter Tosh, URoy, Dennis Brown, which is available nowhere else. The picture quality is OK, the sound is passable, but the performances are great, and most songs are complete.
Worth owning.
