Rating: Summary: Pink Floyd bring down the house. Review: What great rock band do people accosiate with great Rock Shows. PINK FLOYD!!!!! i have been a fan for about 4 years now and i have 14 of their albums, (much to my mums dissapointment) ;) I watched the DSOT concert and thought it was awesome. The crowd atmosphere was brilliant, the light show, the singing, the band etc, were all top class. However, i only have one complaint about the video. It was tooo short. There were not enough songs on it. My favorite song, COMFORTABLY NUMB was cut short and there was no SHINE ON song. Plus, there were heaps of cool songs on the album that were not on the concert video and songs at the other concerts not on the album or video, like welcome to the machine etc. That is my only complaint on an otherwise brilliant video and a great preformance by a great band. I was wondering if the band could redo it and re-release it for its anniversary or something like that as i am sure they have plenty of fotage. There is no such thing as too much Floyd. I am only 17 and i hope to hear much more from this great band and look forward to their next world tour where i will be in the front seat of the venue.Shine on everyone. Scotty
Rating: Summary: MASTERPIECE. The best live in concert effort in rock today Review: It was such a pleasure to see that there are still some artists that put quality, effort, and passion into producing and editing a "live in concert" tape. It is obvious that they intended to have a full length movie (literally) on that stage at Nassau Collisium. I studied short film and television at Syracuse U and worked at the Emmys in NYC- I dare any record company or band to invest as much dedication and effort as Pink Floyd did in this piece of work. I have enjoyed watching this tape 100s of times over the years. ya ya I know all the avid PF fans and the Roger Waters issues but come on, as a video rental, there is no comparision. Virtually flawless editing. BRAVO!!!
Rating: Summary: Cool Video, But A Few More Songs Could Have Been Added. Review: I though this video was great! I liked the lasers, lights, the close-ups of the band, and more. They had a cool mix of songs, but i think a few more songs could have been added, such as,'Another Brick In The Wall-pt.2','Yet Another Movie',and 1 or 2 more others. Other than that, this video is awsome, and I recomend it to any Pink Floyd fan!
Rating: Summary: 'Delicate Sound' ..a masterpiece! Review: There could not have been a more suitable title for this live concert spectacle! This concert is so good, I wore out my first copy in under a year and my second copy is not doing so well these days. (This is why I came to this web-site, to find DSOT on DVD!) Experience the sound quality on a HiFi Surround sytem and you are virtually there! If you have ever heard Alan Jackson's lyrics to 'Don't Rock the Jukebox', where he says "..there aint nothin' like a steel guitar.." he wasn't joking! SPECIFICALLY, when David Gilmour busts out "One of these Days.." on this video. You will FEEL a steel guitar solo that will riddle your senses in an all out carnival ride of the mind. I kid you not! This will blow you away! If you like the studio versions of 'Comfortably Numb' & 'Run Like Hell', you owe it to yourself to get this tape. My rating? There isn't enough stars in the sky to rate this concert!!
Rating: Summary: Very satisfying video Review: I was fortunate to stumble upon this video in a used goods store. I have a very good Hifi SVHS VCR, and recently have bought a 32" Wega Sony. I was floored by the quality of the audio visual experience that watching this video provided me. I've always liked Pink Floyd music though never got to see them live. Everything about this show is very well done, and the capture of it on film is also quite good (with a few minor flaws as have already been discussed by others). I can't believe the range of opinions on this video, at opposite ends of the spectrum. I myself found it exceptionally good. The musicians are all extremely good, the backup singers are superb, and David Gilmour very ably pulls it all together, in a quiet but charismatic and warm way (I love the way he's always sending little smiles to the audience). I have read somewhere that Gilmour was always a more open and congenial person, than Roger Waters (who has a reputation for being more introspective and gloomy at times - a bit like the character in The Wall perhaps?). It shows on this video, the way he interacts with the audience and with the other musicians. His guitar playing is absolutely wonderful: not flashy or showoffish, but crisp, eloquent and very confident. He is one of the underrated rock guitarists of all time, in my opinion; many of his solos are absolute classics in my opinion. I wonder if he's still playing, 12 years later. I heard he accompanied Paul McCartney at a Millenium concert at the old bar where the Beatles used to play in Liverpool - that must have been quite an event. I recall watching Water's The Wall concert video (from the Berlin Wall) which was very impressive, and that there were a couple of very able guitarists playing with him there. David Gilmour shows in this video that no one can interpret Pink Floyd songs on guitar as well as he does. Bravo, David!
Rating: Summary: This Is The Best Video Ever ! Review: This is the best Pink Floyd video ever. The music is great! The effects are great! My favorite songs were one slip and comfortably numb.
Rating: Summary: A+ Review: I first bought this on laser disc and was never let down. I watched a few hundred times and could never get over the quality on laser disc. Obviolusly if this was released on DVD, the band could double their wealth. The VHS will have to do and that is fine until released on DVD. This is a fantastic concert and shows that David Gilmour can carry on just fine.
Rating: Summary: Delicate Review: This is a MUST HAVE for any PF fan. Saw the concert and it was absolutely, without a doubt the BEST concert ever. Even beat out the Division Bell tour, by far. They did a wonderful job and this is still my favorite video to put in the vcr when I'm at home just relaxing. You'll never see a better rendition of Great Gig, or Dogs. I'm ready to buy a DVD version.
Rating: Summary: The best in performance. Not so good in video production Review: I bought this video as soon as he was available, and from the begining I loved it. For me was (and probably it still is) the best live show I ever seen. Even after seeing them at a show in Lisbon, from the Pulse Tour (that was 6 stars...), I must confess that from the music performance point of view, the Delicate Sounf of Thunder video has the best performances from Pink Floyd, specially on songs like, "Dogs of Wars", "Money", "Great Gig in the Sky" (that was a piece! ), "On the turning away", "Sorrow", etc, etc. Is the best! However, from the production point of view, I think that the video is great in images, but has too many confusion in the mixtures, some images are paste even if they don't make part of the music that the band are playing, and so on. Was a try to fill de eyes, but... too much, forgetting what was important : the band performance, wich was quite amazing. The back vocals are quite impressive, Gilmourd is at his best, Gary Wallis and the percussion is a show within the show, Nick Mason very effective, despite his calm... Well, 5 stars. And what about PULSE? 5 Stars too, but more on production than for the acting....
