Rating: Summary: Pulse is better overall Review: Yes, this concert was probably awesome but this video doesn't really show it that well because of all the bad effects and slow-motion shots which run through almost the entire video. Not much of what goes on in this concert is shown as it actually happens. It jumps around too much. For instance, while you're watching the song "Sorrow", they'll keep showing shots from different songs. Almost all of it is in slow motion. That just kind of ruins it. If this was just filmed normally, without a lot of jumping around and without a lot of slow-motion, this video would have been perfect. The sound quality is great and the song selection is also great (although they left off great songs like Yet Another Movie, Terminal Frost, and Welcome To The Machine, all of which were played on this tour) WHEN this is released on dvd, my only hope is that there's some special feature that allows us to watch it normally without all the camera tricks if we choose to do so. Maybe even choose certain camera angles to watch for an entire song like the Genesis-The Way We Walk dvd.
Rating: Summary: Come on David, when are you going to put out the dvd?? Review: I fulfilled a teenage dream when I attended this concert in the late 80s. I wanted to see Pink Floyd during the Wall tour in 1980, but of course, the band only held concerts in California and New York. Upon my arrival at the venue (The Palace at Auburn Hills, MI.), I passed semi after semi trailer, and my girlfriend asked what they were for. I said, dumbstruck, "Ohmigod, they must have contained the band's equipment and stage setup". I am in my late forties, and I have seen many concerts, but I have never have been literally hypnotized as I was by the music, theatrics, and light show performed by Pink Floyd. During the concert, I looked around at the audience, and was amazed by the expressions on people's faces. Slack-jawed wonder, and unblinking eyes!! No need for mind altering chemicals with this concert!! This video is well worth the price you pay for it, and I refuse to sell mine. But NOTHING compares to seeing them LIVE!!!
Rating: Summary: Simply the best Review: Without a question this is Pink Floyd's best concert video. The song line up is great and the dreamy camera work compliments the music perfectly. Some of the stage effect visuals on Pulse are perhaps more stunning, but the band plays flawlessly on this one. "Comfortable Numb" will never sound better. The VHS sound quality is as good as the c.d. also.
Rating: Summary: Floyd at it's finest Review: This is the greatest video in my collection. I have had this tape since 1990, and it is one that I play for all of my friends. The lighting effects, the background visuals, and of course the AWESOME band performances keep you involved in the video. The instrumental and vocals are very crisp. If you have surround sound, this video sounds even better than in stereo, even though it was recorded before surround sound was available for the home. I have played this one so much, that it is beginning to degrade, but still sounds GREAT.
Rating: Summary: DVDuh? Review: Of all the concert DVDs that are now available and among many I have purchased it is incomprehensible that this particular masterpiece is still unavailable! What kind of no-brainer is this to the producers given the phenomenal popularity of DVD formats along with surround sound capabilities of so many systems? Who is sitting on it and why? I owned the VHS version until my ex-wife ran off with it and that version is no longer available either. David Gilmour's production is flawless both in video artistry as well as audio......just try to spot a single camera throughout the footage in spite of the myriad angles and viewpoints necessary to capture the whole ambience of the concert experience and you know this was a work of love and labor. And great editing! Undoubtedly one of the best of the best and to keep it off the market is simply criminal. How long do we wait? I'm getting too old for this.
Rating: Summary: The Best Floyd Review: What is Sony or the Band thinking? Delicate Sound is the great stuff. I am lucky enough to own it on laser disk, I also have live at Pompei and Pulse, but Delicate rules! If you get a chance to buy this in any format do so you wont be disappointed. I check monthly but..... request that you be notified when available so they can tell the music label to remaster this great performance and put it out!
Rating: Summary: Best Music Video Ever Review: I've been looking for the DVD release of this video for some time. It is absolutely fabulous. Ihave a VHS version and it is the ONLY music video I own. People freak out when I play "One of these days" and "Great gig in the sky" on the 57" HDTV. Get it released NOW !
Rating: Summary: Can't go wrong with Floyd! Review: Not only do I own the VHS tape, but also the CD version--both are awesome. I can't wait until The Wall Live comes out on DVD!
Rating: Summary: Pink Floyd - Delicate Sound of Thunder Review: I was so impressed with the video and audio quality of the VHS tape, that I deeply regret playing it so frequently. I can't wait to obtain a glass copy. I foolishly decided to skip this concert tour after Walters left. I saw the next tour and realized how great this group is. The artistry in the video and audio is unsurpassed. I grew up with this music and now I realize its significance. I can relate to the Europeans that attend the same operas year after year. The Floyd's show and music has my favorite arias that I can sing over and over!
Rating: Summary: Can you believe this isn't on DVD yet? Review: Pink Floyd's Delicate Sounds Of Thunder was and still to this day one of, if not the best produced concert films ever. From it's stunning visual effects to it's extreamly high quality fidelity. Director Wayne Isham was definitly at the top of his game when he was commisioned to work this project. The entire film flows with grandure and the post Waters Floyd never looked any better.
