Rating: Summary: PINK FLOYD'S PULSE IS THE GREATEST GIG IN THE SKY! Review: First of all Pink Floyd is my all-time favorite band. David Gilmour is a genius, amazing artist, singer, and musician. "Pulse" is the culmination of ALL of what makes Pink Floyd so spectacular. Their music is awesome but their live show is SIMPLY THE BEST YOU WILL EVER SEE! It has the most impressive lighting (complete with lasers), and special effects of any concert I've been to! (I've seen at least 50 popular bands.) Hats off to Marc Brickman, the lighting designer as well as the director, David Mallet and everyone involved in this great video production! Also, the giant screen which plays video footage is definitely worth mentioning; however, I'll save all the other numerous surprises for you to enjoy as you watch this! What impresses me the most about Pink Floyd is they keep getting better! I saw this concert live and it's their tour for the awesome "Division Bell" CD; which is my favorite of all their work! That says alot looking at their enormous portfolio through the years! The approximate running time is 145 minutes; and you'll be on the edge of your seat the whole time! This video is a must own if you are a Pink Floyd fan and if you can only afford one--this is it! It has all their old great ones like "Money", "Breathe", "Us and Them", "Comfortably Numb" and "Wish You Were Here" plus their newer ones from "THE DIVISION BELL": the great "High Hopes", "Coming Back to Life", "Take it Back" and "Keep Talking." I hope they "keep talking" because I'll always be listening!
Rating: Summary: Very good concert video despite flaws Review: Pink Floyd released the VHS version of Pulse on the same day as the album. Whereas the album was recorded over 20 shows in Europe and England, this video was recorded and filmed on October 20, 1994, near the end of The Division Bell tour. I first saw this show, months in advance of its official VHS release on PPV. The PPV had different camera angles than on the official release and some songs were edited with either solos dubbed in from other shows or a portion of the solo is cut from the official release. For instance, on High Hopes, David Gilmour hit different notes on the lap steel guitar solo in one section on the original PPV broadcast that was fixed on the official released video version with a solo coming from a different show(at least they didn't re-record the solos in the studio). Also, he thanked Roger slightly differently, and in a lower tone by saying "Also, thanks due to our old cohort Roger who wrote those fantastic words I get the privilege of singing every night, thank you very much indeed to you all, good night". Plus three minutes of the ending guitar solo on Comfortably Numb was chopped off from the original broadcast. Also, the PPV had a pre-show interview which was missing from the official video release but the DVD is promised to have some good bonus features.
Rating: Summary: Excellent documentation on Floyd's 1994 tour Review: Pink Floyd released the VHS version of Pulse on June 6, 1995, which was the same day as the album. Whereas the album was recorded over 20 shows in Europe and England, this video was recorded and filmed on October 20, 1994, near the end of The Division Bell tour. I first saw this show, months in advance of its official VHS release on PPV. The PPV had different camera angles than on the official release and some songs were longer and had different notes on some of the solos. For the VHS, the show was edited with either solos dubbed in from other shows or a portion of the solo cut from the official release and had different camera angles than on the PPV broadcast. For instance, on High Hopes, David Gilmour hit different notes on the lap steel guitar solo in one section on the original PPV broadcast that was fixed on the official released video/album version with a solo coming from a different show(at least they didn't re-record the solos in the studio). Also, he thanked Roger slightly differently, and in a lower tone by saying "Also, thanks due to our old cohort Roger who wrote those fantastic words I get the privilege of singing every night, thank you very much indeed to you all, good night". Also, two minutes of the ending guitar solo on Comfortably Numb was chopped off on the VHS that was on the original PPV broadcast. Of note, the song Take it Back appears on the video, which does not appear on the album. Also, the PPV had a pre-show interview which was missing from the official video release but the DVD is promised to have some good bonus features. Can't wait for the DVD!
Rating: Summary: The Best Pink Floyd Video I Have Seen! If Only I Were There! Review: The first time I saw this video was when my dad had bought it, and I watched it. I WAS AMAZED! The light and laser show was terrific, and of chorse...so was the music! They opened up the the powerful 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' which had an AWSOME opening to it! After that, they did the cool 'Learning To Fly', which had a VERY cool laser segment in the middle of it. Afterwards, they did a few cool songs from 'The Division Bell'. Then 'Sorrow', more 'Division Bell' stuff. They closed the first half with 'Another Brick In The Wall-Pt.2', then finished with the awsome instrumental 'One Of These Days'! First half of the show...COOL! Now, the second half....COOLER! The second half was a FULL live performance of 'Dark Side Of The Moon'!!! THE WHOLE THING! Floyd then finished the show with a powerful '3' encore finale! You heard right...'3' encores! The 3 finales were, 'Wish You Were Here'(performed outstandingly!),'Comfortably Numb'(the best version i have heard and seen...especaily David Gilmour's long guitar solo at the end!), and then finally 'Run Like Hell'(AWSOME!!!)! The show ended with a "Big Bang" (you'll see what I mean) Pink Floyd DEFINATELY blew the 'Delicate Sound Of Thunder' show OUT OF THE WATER! DSOT was still good, though. BUY THIS VIDEO IF YOU DO NOT OWN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I now have MY OWN copy of this video! IT'S WORTH IT!!!
Rating: Summary: POSITIVELY (...)TO THE WALL! Review: The "Pulse" video has to be the best live video ever, the only possible contender being (of course), "Live at Pompeii." I can't watch this enough times - I've tried! The concert spans Pink Floyds entire existance, from Astronomy Domine (album only) to the complete Dark Side of the Moon (I get chills just remembering watching that part) to later material off Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell. Can't leave out the pigs - evil pigs with laser eyes are comming out of the wall at one point. And my god, my god - THE LIGHT SHOW!!! The one that accompanies the end of the world will pale in comparison. You think that Offspring concert you just went too was cool? Son, you ain't seen nothin. Until you've seen this footage you have never seen a Rock Concert. Period. BUY THIS VIDEO NOW!!! You'll probably never spend a better (price).
Rating: Summary: Live Brick Review: They are now old but they still can play very good. There's a great audience and of course great show! My favourites are "Time", "Shine on You Crazy Diamond", "Keep Talking", and "Another Brick in the Wall part 2".

Rating: Summary: Best concert video of all time Review: It's 1995, why bother making a new album and touring after 6 years when you've already been to the top of the mountain, stayed there longer than anyone else and made zillions of $ like Pink Floyd? I think it's because of the dreadful 'Delicate Sound of Thunder' tour, film and album of 1989. Just like the Beatles made Abbey Road because they didn't want to be remembered for Let it Be, the three remaining Floydians had to get together one more time to remind us that they can still stage the greatest show on earth. And boy did they. Everybody does their job here and then some. Director David Mallet avoids the concert film cliches and overblown effects that dragged down Delicate Sound of Thunder. His filming is crisp and straightforward and doesn't get in the way of the spectacular lights, lasers and projections that make PF shows a true multimedia experience. As for the music itself, it's hard to believe this is the same band that stumbled through an uninspired set in 'Thunder'. The Pulse set is seamless and inspired, highlighted by a full rendition of 'Dark Side of the Moon'. Dave Gilmour in particular shows he's still the finest rock guitarist ever and his flawless arrangements and voice make the songs shine like polished gems(or crazy diamonds maybe). When they're both released on DVD skip Delicate Sound of Thunder and buy this one. Pulse is exactly how you'll want to remember the unforgettable live experience that was Pink Floyd.
Rating: Summary: The greatest DVD not in existence... Review: I've owned, and worn out, 3 copies of the Pulse VHS. This show is, without a doubt, the single greatest stage performance I have EVER seen. I don't know the reason behind this not being on DVD, but whatever the reason, the powers that be need to get off their butts and make this happen. I can only imagine how much better this concert would be in 5.1. Sure, the VHS recording rules, but I would love to have this thing on DVD. Don't let the fact that it's only available on VHS disuade you from purchasing, though. I highly recommend it!! If you're a Floyd fan, just like concerts, or even just like pretty colors, buy this concert!!!
