Review: I have never seen a movie take you on such a wonderful, touching, and beautiful journey before. I DEFINATELY reccomend that everyone should do themselves a favor and watch this movie!!!!

Review: This film is a superb story (fiction) Of a movement based apon true happenings of 1750's to 1978. It starts out with native tribes of the plains/rockies, through trapper/mountain men, the pioneers, the settlers, the army, the war with the indians. The great cattle drives, the great deppresion(s)/droughts, and finally the world of the 1970's with all its problems due to the past and its present problems--bot enviromental and social. The cast makes this picture a pure pleasure to watch. I don't want to give the story, plot, etc. away. Rent or buy this film... You will develop a passion for its players. 5 stars***** Note: sorry for bad grammer spelling and etc.

Summary: One of my all-time favorites!
Review: Centennial tells the story of Colorado's development, starting with beaver trappers fighting Indians in the early 19th century and ending with ranchers fighting developers in the 20th century. What makes the video so outstanding is that each succeeding generation is stocked with fascinating characters portrayed by outstanding actors involved in interesting events. Robert Conrad (Pasquinal) and Richard Chamberlain begin the movie as beaver trappers. They both love the same beautiful Indian woman, an excellent actress whose name I don't recall. They are succeeded by English ranchers, Texas cowboys (Chester from Gunsmoke), farmers (former Detriot Lion player, but I can't remember his name), soldiers (Chad Everett), sheriffs (Brian Keith), and finally a rich rancher (David Jannsen) and rich developer (Robert Vaughn). The story line also includes racial problems (blacks, Mexicans, and Indians), which are viewed sympathetically mostly from the minority perspective.. The video ranks up with "Lonesome Dove" as one of the best-ever Westerns.

Review: Centennial is a journey into the American past like no other. The story begins before the first white man came to the prairies and ends in the present time. With its basis in actual history, Centennial is a very moving account of the lives of fictional characters across a span of 200 years. With an all star cast this movie is not to be missed. Centennial is at once an enthralling movie, a history lesson, and a gentle reminder to cherish the earth. It is Michner at his very best!

Review: This movie would definitely be in my Top 10 list!! This is a moving account of the settlement of a fictitious town in Colorado. It moves from the beginning to present time, and story lines are interwoven for a feeling of real continuity. It has all the aspects of a great novel, adventure, mystery, and love. Both men and women should like this movie!!! The acting is SUPERB! END

WORK ON THE HISTORY OF THE THE WEST EVER MADE. NOT ONLY DOES IT SHOW THE MOVEMENTS OF THE DIFFERENT MEN AND WOMEN WHO HELPED MAKE THE AMERICAN WEST, BUT IS SHOWS IT IN A WAY THAT IT IS HARD FOR ANYONE NOT TO GET WRAPPED UP IN IT. IT IS REMARKABLY CLOSE
TO JAMES MICHENER'S WONDERFUL BOOK. IT WOULD BE A GRAVE MISTAKE
NOT TO PUT THIS MOVIE/MINI-SERIES ON DVD. TO ME THIS RATES WITH
"THE LORD OF THE RINGS" AND "HARRY POTTER" FOR INTERTAINMENT.

Review: I have not generally been a fan of mini-series. It takes an exceptional story to hold my interest over a number of episodes. Centennial was exceptional, I consider it to be the best mini-series ever on TV. More than that, I think it is one of the best programs of any genre broadcast on TV. The series is like a long book that grabs you and you just can't put it down. As with most of Michner's work, the story begins far back in time and weaves it's way through generations of families. I felt as though it was my family and I had the priviledge of watching my ancestors live, love and die, passing a piece of them on to the next generations.
How can it be that this has not been released on DVD? Please do so.

Summary: Centennial simply MUST be released on DVD
Review: So how much longer do we all have to wait for this to be released on DVD? I just recently finished watching "The Longhorns" (my personal favorite episode) from the VHS collection with my Mother while she visited for Thanksgiving. This prompted me again to wonder why this isn't on DVD some 25+ years later. While I agree that the cast for this was magnificent, I have one exception. Perhaps I am the only one but I never cared for Peter Jansen as Paul Garrett.

Come on DVD!

Review: Michener knows how to write wonderful novels. His descriptions are so vivid that you lose yourself in their beauty. This Mini-Series is one of the best I've ever seen. Robert Conrad was phenomenal as Pasquenal. What a strong character- he could accomplish anything he set his mind on. The series made me ashamed of how the "White Men" obliterated the Indians of this country. It's too bad we couldn't continue the relationship that Pasquenal started. Bravo for a wonderful book and a fabulous film adaptation. I can't wait for this to be released on DVD. I destroyed my VHS version watching it so many times.
