Summary: big letdown........
Review: although this movie was filmed quite well, the sound quality is very poor. completely unacceptable. only dolby 2 channel is available, but even that is recorded so poorly, the dvd is unwatchable. vocals are muffled, and bassy, while instruments are barley audible. the sound quality makes this dvd useless.

save your money, please

Summary: Honest Review
Review: First of all I have been a SPIRIT fan since the late sixties and was thrilled to get Any music of theirs on DVD. First off if the people doing this video took the time to do it right this DVD would have been pretty good. The performance was good as was the picture quality but the crowd noise at times did get in the way of the music. The sound quality was at times poor because the sound would fade in and out along with the crowd noise. The concert was way too short and John Locke is not on this video (keyboards) and he never played bass. If you are truly a SPIRIT fan like I am then get the DVD because thats the only way your gonna see Randy California and Ed Cassidy which still plays a pretty good drum for his age. If your not a true fan you might want to pass this DVD up.

Summary: Great band-awful DVD
Review: First off, let me state that I really like Spirit. However, this DVD is just terrible. The sound quality is among the worst that I have ever heard, you can hardly even hear the music. The crowd noise is dubbed in,making the crowd of roughly 250 sound like thousands. Overall, this DVD is a very poor representation of a good band.

Summary: Fake crowd noises-NOT a good start, fellas...
Review: First off...this was a gift, and YES, I did have it on my Wish List. MAJOR PET PEEVE DEPT. The crowd cheering has DEFINITELY been sonically enhanced, to beef up the enthusiasm for this poorly-attended outdoor concert. Sometimes the fake crowd cheering gets in the way of the performance. It's so funny -- they tried to make it sound like a hugE, wild cheering audience, when instead, when the camera pans the small crowd, what you see are a few folks singing along, looking lit, while others look like they're thinking, "Who ARE these guys?" What can ya do? Almost EVERY DVD/Video you get these days has been doctored -- trust me on this...

I do give these guys credit for still making music... why deny your passions? Nature's Way is one of my all-time fave tunes, for sure.

Document and sell your goods, just give us the real thing next time...

Summary: Good Spirits
Review: Notwithstanding the 2 other poor reviews I bought the DVD anyway.
Don't let the other reviews scare you. It's an honest performance typical of the band's 80's concerts. Sure we'd all love to see unedited 1968 shows but I haven't too many of those around on video or DVD, have you?
This DVD is very enjoyable, I didn't really notice the sound enhancements described by the other reviewers. Perhaps there are some but I'm only in it for the music.
At this price it's a bargain and I hope it warms your heart too to see this now deceased band.

Summary: Not so great......
Review: Well, first off let me say that the video footage is not half bad on this DVD...but the sound is terrible...not only are the vocals often choppy and drowned out...but the instruments go in and out and sounds very uneven. In addition, somebody had the bright idea to add or amp up the crowd noise...what looks to be a crowd of maybe 200 people...often sounds like a crowd of 10 thousand people. Also - the crowd is constantly yelling and screaming over the music...and at some points louder than the music. With all these problems...I still give it two stars..and that is because #1 - Spirit was a great live band when they were around and this is the only live DVD from these guys and #2 - it's cheap...I'd be upset if I paid 20 bucks for this..but hey for 8 dollars...it's kinda cool to see them playing music and having fun. So - depsite all of the flaws - if your a hardcore fan of Spirit...this DVD may be worth a few bucks just to own. If your looking for a great concert DVD with good sound...stay away from it.
