Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A superb collection of R.E.M. videos
Review: Another DVD that shows why R.E.M. is one of greatest bands in history. This DVD shows the diverse musical feats that they are capable of. The videos range from the silly Stand to more serious songs like Orange Crush. The track list is The One I Love, It's The End of the World As We Know It, Finest Worksong, Talk About the Passion, Orange Crush, Stand, Turn You Inside Out, Pop Song 89, and Get Up. My only complaint about the DVD is that it's only 32 minutes long. However, the fact that the videos on the DVD are so excellent and diverse more than makes up for that one small complaint.

Summary: AWESOME DVD, except that it didn't work on my Labtop's DVD
Review: Just a warning for all you people who want to watch this on your labtop's DVD player--- it probobly won't work! I called the company that makes my computer, and they told me it's not my DVD player, it's the DVD. It works great on a regular DVD player! I really really like this collection of videos. REM is amazing!

Summary: Fantastic videos
Review: Pop Screen displays REM's videos at their most experimental. It is a true statement of Michael Stipe's artisitc vision.

The videos run the spectrum for silly pop (Stand) to a very sinister and hauntingly gorgeous meditation on war (Orange Crush). In between we have a nudity (Pop Song 89), homelessness (Talk about the Passion), a boy and a dog (Its the End of the World as we Know It) and even Michael's sister (The One I Love).

A must.

Summary: Some cool stuff.
Review: This is a cool collection of videos from Document and Green. There is nothing really spectacular here, but it's a must if you're a hardcore fan and it's great for fans of quirky 80s videos.

The One I Love has interesting layering effects that don't come off as cheesy. It's mainly just shots of a male and female actor and a few shots of Michael here and there.

It's The End of The World... is a boy rummaging through a bunch of junk on the floor of an abandoned shack. One of the items among the junk is an R.E.M. concert flyer.

Finest Worksong is done by Michael himself and is comprised of cool super-8 footage of industrial workers banging away as they "listen to the finest worksong".

Orange Crush is full of military imagery since the song is about Vietnam and agent orange. It's shot in beautifully moody black and white.

Stand is mostly people doing a very silly dance that was created just for the video. Very quirky and a lot of fun. Quick shots of the band at the end and a great shy smile from Michael that he calls "the smile that broke a thousand hearts".

Turn You Inside-Out is the band playing the song in the 40 Watt Club (without audience) as they are filmed by longtime R.E.M. compatriot Jim Herbert. The camera gets turned sideways and upside down by Michael a few times and there is odd footage of a school of fish superimposed over Bill as the video ends.

Pop Song 89 is Michael and a group of women all dressed in jester's pants and dancing around topless. Much like the Stand video, they all have a sort of silly dance that they do just for the song.

Get Up is a juxtaposition of lots of very colorful images moving in an almost animated flipbook fashion. One of the coolest videos in this collection.

I gave it 4 stars because R.E.M.'s videos improve a great deal after this era.

Summary: Purchase a different R.E.M. product
Review: Yuk! The cover of this DVD is misleading -- the cover does not disclose that this product is merely a collection of amateurish (artistic?) video clips running in tandem with R.E.M. music. Be warned -- this is not a collection of the band's professional videos; and the band should have ethically disclosed this fact on the cover. This taught me not to buy music DVDs in some store; instead I'll check reviews on this website beforehand and purchase through Amazon.
