Summary: Oh No Yoko!
Review: Let me state emphatically that I love the music of the Beatles and of course John Lennon. However, this DVD is an insult to fans because of its revisionist history. There is no reason to create new videos for songs that already have videos. The original videos that can be found on VHS (the John Lennon Collection) are the vision of the artist. This new crop of videos is the concoction of wife Yoko. Now I ask you, to whom would you lean toward for artistic integrity? So as a public service announcement I advise not to discard your John Lennon Collection tape because those treasures may never see the light of day on DVD thanks to wife Yoko. Her massive ego will not allow John's original ideas to compete with this very unflattering portrayal of his music. This DVD is not totally without merit because the 5.1 sound is amazing and the bonus material is a real treat. However, if you want Happy Xmas (War Is Over) to be forever ruined for you then you have purchased the right DVD. The depiction of 9/11 victims and children with their brains bashed in makes this a very dark present to give a friend for the Holidays. Why fans would subject themselves to having a political opinion handed to them by wife Yoko, at a financial blow to them and a gain to her, is incomprehensible. This is a totally misleading title and project, loyal Beatle fans deserve much better!

Review: The earlier review was right about this being about Yoko. Beyond her annoying presence in original footage from past videos, she obnoxiously edits herself into footage she wasn't originally in. I couldn't watch more than the first few before I had to shut it off.
John is her possession and she wants everyone to know it. Suddenly Joan Rivers and Fran Drescher ain't so bad.

Watching this DVD, you'd think John was born, and then was in suspended animation until he met Yoko; and the brief time he left her, he was a useless drunk. The only mention of the Beatles is a brief shot of an "I Still Like the Beatles" button. And why did Yoko edit in shots of John & Yoko, when we could be watching John sing "Stand By Me"? Enough, Yoko!!!! But even with the history re-write by Yoko, this is of course a must have for fans.

Summary: rehashing old material.......................again
Review: the only saving grace to this "new" issue is that it includes Imagine from the tribute to Sir Lew Grade, and the additon of Slippin and Slidin.i was hoping for the nice video from Stand By Me, but that was edited from its original content, and other materials added. Most of the other material has been seen in videos before. If you're a collector, you have to have it. If you were hoping for a infuse of new material, it's not here.

Summary: Good - but not what I expected.
Review: The sound is superb. The photos are good considering the age. The bonus features are excellent. So why couldn't they use the original videos when they exist? Sure, some of them are on here and some of the new clips are interesting. But why replace the live concert audio with the studio tracks? Like previous reviewers I also didn't need all the reminders about John's death. And worst of all is the Happy Xmas video. Yes, I know what Yoko was trying to do, but was it necesary to be that graphic? I couldn't watch it.

Summary: Horrible Yoko Promo
Review: This DVD is horrible. If it was really only about the work of John Lennon it would have been fine. But it is yet another one of Yoko Ono's attempts to convince the world of her own importance. Ono is is every piece confirming what many have always believed about her real interest in John Lennon: she saw him as a means to achieve her own imortality.

Summary: Truth Will Out
Review: This DVD settles all questions on what John Lennon was all about. Creativity, originality, love (of his wife and child) and above all, a yearning for peace for everyone. The animations (extras) are great for kids. Drawings John made for Sean begin breathing, growling, snarking and sneezing in little loops. America's history over the past 35 yrs has its "highs and lows" Woodstock, Kent State, Vietnam, Elvis, the Beatles, Sinatra, Marilyn... everyone's connected, just like John Lennon said during his interview the afternoon of the day he was assassinated. (Hear the interview on Milk And Honey, Lennono Music) Goldman, Seaman and Giuliano never knew the wonderful man and his funny little wifey... they lied. This Lennon Legend is the Truth. See for yourself! Power to the People!

Summary: Great, but...
Review: This is a great DVD with truly some of John's best work. But the thing that really bugs me about it is the video for "#9 Dream"... In the song, May Pang (a lover of John's, despised by Yoko) is included. She's the one who whispers "John", but Yoko edited the music video to make it seem as if it were her. The implication here is that Yoko WANTS people to believe it was her. All of US know it was May, but future scholars and future generations who might have the video to go by will assume it was Yoko, and I am sure that was the reason it's edited that way.
This wasn't really meant as a review, but I just had to point that out...
