Rating: Summary: Best Live Show I've Seen Review: For those of you wanting to know whether or not to purchase this DVD, here's something that might be of some help. Ingnore the negative reviews that claim the sound is awful, I took the chance on that and purchased the DVD and it sounded great. I do have high end amps and speakers, but the DVD should sound good on any system that's setup properly. Picture quality is just as good as any professionally recorded video these days. The refereces to things being a bit fuzzy is due to the type of lighting used during the show and video compression on the DVD player. My player had no problems, but my friend's player had the fuzzy stuff. To truely experience the DVD you have to listen to it in DTS. Stereo is ok, but the DTS sounded so much better. Now, as for the show. The show was great! Of course you have to be expecting an Alice Cooper show, not the typical run-of-the-mill rock concerts they have these days. This show wasn't as theatrical as Alice's Welcome to my Nightmare, but there was still a common theme/story being told throughout the entire show. Think of it as a play, or some reasonable facimalty thereof; it's not just four fat guys on stage making a lot of noise and swearing at the croud. I've compared this to my Metallica Cunning Stunts Live show DVD, and there really is no comparison. Alice puts on a performance while other bands are just there, they really don't do anything accept walk around the stage. Alice has props, blood, costumes, babies, a couple of actors, swords, and that damn guillotine. The songs range the full 30 plus years of Alice's career. It's great to hear all the different styles of rock he went through. Several of his songs were chopped and tied together in some manner in order to tell a particular part of the story. I feel this is more interesting than just playing one song right after another like you may hear on the album. Well, I don't want to give anymore of the show away. It's a great show, if you're in to Alice Cooper; it sounds great, the best live mix I've heard, it looks great, it's entertaining. Take my word for it, I am a professional musician, have been a part of the music business since I was born, I know what music is supposed to sound like, and I can tell when there's something great about a show. Regular concerts these days are fun, but they just can't compare to a show like that put on by Alice Cooper. I will even go as far to say that the musicians playing for him on this tour are better than any of the big name bands that are on the top of the business today. That's just my opinion.
Rating: Summary: One of the most interesting things I've ever seen Review: I always considered myself a "goth", I never got into any of the rock stuff... I decided to buy this dvd due to the fact I always had this weird respect for Alice I didnt have for other rockers like Ozzy. So I finally caved in and bought this DVD at a mall on my vacation to new hampshire. WOW! When I got home, it was brilliant! My dvd player on my pc couldnt contain the magic* excuse my corniness. You could tell this guy knows what hes doing. He is not afraid to act wacky and crazy on stage, you can tell a lot of the people iN the audience are old fans who brought their kids, but alice didnt hold back a bit on "Dead Babies". THE QUALITY OF THE PICTURE AND SOUND IS EXCELLENT. Alice's intro the "The Little Things" was hilarious, props to dissing Manson and Ozzy! You should get it if you ask little old me.
Rating: Summary: Good sound! Review: I cant say I agree that this is the ultimate Alice DVD like some have said. It was the first time i'd seen an Alice show live in full. And the sound quality is pretty darn good! I will say that this is more a musicly live show, then any previous Alice show where theatrics where involved! Provided you liked the album Brutal Planet, then you will probably like most of the transformations into live versions! Most of them sound pretty good! The classics of Alice are preformed well. Its the songs from "Trash" and "Hey stoopid" like "poison" and "feed my frankinstein" that dont sound good. Its just because on those albums they where edited and mixed so strongly that the live versions dont have that great impact the terrific recorded versions do! The overall show is pretty good. But it seems to have a few things that just dont go anywhere? I'm not sure what the mechanical beast at the begiing was meant to be about? but it wouldve made more sense if it actualy had somthing to do with the show! And during feed my frankinstein it wouldve been great to see Alice actualy contruct one with his magic tricks like he did years ago with "Teenage Frankinstein". Overall the show is great music wise. But not so great theatrical wise! The bonus feature is just the video clip to "gimmie" which isnt all that worthwhile, but it would have been if theyd added a few more from the BP album! The alternate camera angles arnt worth looking at, unless your a fan of Alice and are obsessed enough to wanna watch his every move on stage, then the camera angles might be worth it for you? I dont recomend you pay too much for this DVD. It is a good show music wise, like i said, but not theatricale wise. I hope Alice brings back his great stage perfromances he has been known to do over the years back on the next tour!
Rating: Summary: Brutally Live Captures the Concert Experience Review: I have a few Alice concerts and none compare to Brutally Live. The sound quality is great. The performance is great! The set list is great! I was really impressed by the use of so many cameras to capture the entire show. If you own "Alice Cooper Trashes The World", for instance, you only see the concert from a couple of different perspectives. Brutally Live must have been captured by 8 or so different cameras. Alice's voice is in top notch shape on this concert. "...Trashes the World" was taped later in the tour with Alice's voice a little tired. They were smart to capture this one early on in his Brutally Live Tour. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DVD!! It's jam packed with power ballads, rock anthems, shock theatrics, and top notch showmanship. You'll be hard pressed to find a better rock and roll show out there.
Rating: Summary: An Old AC Fan Review: I have been a AC fan since 1972. I was at the Alice Cooper BRUTAL PLANET show on Oct. 6, 2000 in Portland, ME, USA. When I saw this DVD for the first time I thought it was filmed at the same show, until they showed the audience from the stage. If you missed the BRUTAL PLANET tour this DVD is EXACTLY what was done during the show. I haven't seen Alice live since 1977 and was thrilled to see that Alice is as great as ever! If you've never seen Alice live, it's all here. The only thing not here from the old days was the snake and the song KILLER. If you like Alice you'll love it. Alice shows that he can still out rock most of todays best! BUY IT! You will NOT be disappointed! WHAT HAVE WE BECOME HERE ON BRUTAL PLANET?
Rating: Summary: A Must See Review: I saw the PPV broadcast of this DVD and the sound kicks some serious tail. Of course, the visuals are great and highlights include Alice's daughter Calico, Ryan "Glamnation" Roxie, Pete Frezein, and Gregg Smith. Alice throws in a couple of oldies which haven't seen the light of day since 1974 such as Caught In a Dream and Nervous (my favorite of the show).
Rating: Summary: Its a killer Review: I unfortunatly have not seen the vid yet but I was there when it was being filmed, front row and it was one of the most amazing gigs of my life.I have seen Alice 3 times and he keeps getting better and better, this vid offers the entire alice expirience something know one should miss
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I was lucky enough to be on the front row when he came to Mississippi. This concert just blew me away! Awesome theatrics (on the scale with WTMN), great choreography, excellent show. I had to buy the DVD, and have watched it at least five times. Recommended to all who enjoy an AC show.
Rating: Summary: More Brutal Planet! Review: I'm not a huge Alice Cooper fan, but this is a great DVD. I would have enjoyed watching *all* of the songs from the BRUTAL PLANET CD, but it is very entertaining and the classic and new song selection is quite good. The bonus video 'Gimme' was a nice treat.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Concert - Alice At His Best Review: I've been out of the Alice circle for over 15 years - plugged this DVD in and just about got blown away ! If you're an old fan, you won't be disappointed at all - it includes not only new tracks, but the old classics as well! Alice is the strongest I've ever seen him. I'm ready to go out and purchase the Brutal Planet cd after watching this concert! Go Alice Go!
