Review: After only a couple of minutes of watching this DVD I realized that this is not a "live" performance as the description indicates. I was looking forward to a great live jazz concert and what I got was a studio recording dubbed over the top of live footage. I wish I'd known this and read the reviews here ahead of time because I would not have purchased this DVD.Chris is a very good artist, but this presentation is very lacking, and there is a certain coldness to the entire thing, including Chris' distant and aloof personality that he seems to have during this concert. Give me Dave Koz instead any day.

Summary: excellent concert dvd
Review: As one who has seen Chris Botti live in concert here in California, this was a great treat to have the dvd (yes I could not wait and got another copy from Tower as soon as they were relesed from their clutches!). Already viewed it - the bonus material on the dvd (interviews and the like) are wonderful.
Shows how entertaining this band can be and how skillful and talented these musicians are. The only thing I would have to say is that the lead ins to each song (humourous stories attached to some of the songs when he did the live concerts) were severely edited and if you did not previously know you might have missed the meanings behind the songs. Overall this was wonderful!

Summary: Excellent Trumpet Player
Review: Chris Botti shows why he is THE first call trumpet player for Sting, Tony Levin and Bill Bruford (in the band Bruford Levin Upper Extremities or BLUE) and a host of others. The notes are caressed from his trumpet and his playing is impeccable. He doesn't make one mistake during the entire concert. At the end of Streets Ahead he plays a double G that is so big and fat that it sounds like it's gonna explode. Despite what others say this DVD is an excellent example of some fine trumpet playing and there are some fine musicians in his band.

Summary: Not studio dubbing, live recording but glitches
Review: I agree the out of synch soundtrack has moments that are distracting but none of the tracks are studio versions. But someone obviously clipped the live performance recording and this clipped version does not synch visually with the performance at about 3 seperate noticeable moments in the concert. Still it is always a pleasure to watch a musician work his craft and after having seen Chris live and also owning this DVD I can honestly say it deserves a better rating than some give it for the few technical glitches that detract from an otherwise small and intimate concert venue

Summary: Needs Better Material
Review: I first saw segment of this concert on public television. What I had seen made me want to buy this DVD. I hadn't heard any of Botti's music before that time. I saw the entire DVD and must say I was a little disappointed. Half way into the concert I found myself even frustrated waiting for Botti to let his horn rip. It never happened so I sold the DVD on Ebay.

Summary: Fantastic Jazz CD - Soulful/Expressive Trumpet Playing
Review: I just recently discovered Chris Botti when my husband bought his greatest hits CD. We both loved his music and went on to search for more. I found this DVD - recently released - and saw that Sting and Shawn Colvin were guests on it and I had to have it. It is great music for anytime - pool, cocktails, parties.
I think this DVD, Diana Krall and Sting (All this Time)((Chris Botti is Sting's trumpet player!)) are must haves and I have rated them all 5 stars for different reasons. I can't wait to see Chris Botti in concert in a small arena if he comes to Houston before he gets too popular.

Review: I was dissapointed with the over dubbing. If I wanted a studio recording I would buy one. There is some intrisic connection you make with seeing a live performance, that doesn't always happen here. At first you might not notice the overdubbing, but after you do, you begin to question every note. I think he redoes some written solos, most of the endings etc. I'd rather hear him miss a note, than watch a disconnected video and audio. That's part of the live experience is you present yourself, warts and all, no safety net. It almost fraudulent to dub your mistakes. That's what studios are for, not stages. Beyond that, the recording is great, Obviously, he had unlimited take in the studio later. So for putting in for listening its great, but if you intend to watch intently, you will know it's not live.
