Review: Basically, this DVD contains several of Hype Williams favorite music video works. The videos are taken from his own master collection and are high quality with the original aspect ratio intact (some full screen, some widescreen). It is nice to see such complete music videos. There are commentary and about options for each video as well as dolby digital 5.1 sound. There are a lot of memorable videos including Craig Mack's "Flava In Ya Ear (Remix)" and Busta Rhymes' "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See". Hype Williams is a great director and this DVD showcases his talent. Hopefully he will release another volume.

Review: Hype Williams is the greatest! I have been waiting VERY long for a DVD like this to come out and I have to say it was worth the wait! All the tracks are "Hype" and you can't go wrong for the all true hip-hop fans out there! Worth the purchase in every way!

Review: Hype Williams,one of the most proflific video directors of the last ten years,finally releases a collection of his favorites clips that he's directed.

Hype's directing style has always been vibrant,colorful,
imagantive,inventive,and hip.He singlehandly altered the face of hip hop video.Forever.And paved the way for such directors
as Paul Hunter,Little X(a Hype understudy),Billie Woodruff,
McG,amongst others.

This DVD features 10 of Hype's videos.Among the best are the classic Craig Mack "Flava In Ya Ear" remix video(CLASSIC!),LL Cool J's seductive "Doin' It",Jay-Z's memorable bling-bling clip "Big Pimpin'",TLC's "No Scrubs",and Wu Tang Clan's "Could It All Be So Simple",and Busta Rhymes' unforgettable "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See".

Also included on this DVD is a biography of Hype and a videography along with spoken commentary courtesy of Hype himself as well as a video interview with him.

I'm hoping that Hype releases another volume to this one because
I really would like to see Missy Elliot's "The Rain(Supa Dupa Fly) and/or "She's A B",Busta's "What's It Gonna Be?!",B.I.G.'s
"Mo Money Mo Problems" amongst many other next time.

Big fans of music videos in general or Hype's work or of hip hop videos should definitely look into this DVD.Great buy.

Review: I enjoyed watching (and re-living) Hype's videos and I took special interest in hearing his commentary on each video. On a few videos you could tell in his voice that he wanted to share more with the viewers but held himself back in order to "protect the innocent". I only hope that he dishes out some of the juicy details on his next volume.

I was dissappointed in the quality of Hype's interview for the DVD. For a man who has put out some spectacular looking video productions, it looked like his intreview was shot with an old 8mm home movie camera.

Review: Im very disappointed with this company service. I have yet to recieve my product. I ordered it about 3 weeks ago and counting.

Summary: good videos, poor extras
Review: The videos themselves are great, although I found the choice of Mase's "Feel So Good" a bit questionable. Wu-Tang's "Can It all Be So Simple" was a great pick because it is lesser known and from early in Hype's career. I would have liked a couple more videos included, especially from earlier on, in addition to Missy's "Rain" video. The extras, I thought, were poor. Hype's commentary is sometimes interesting but becomes redundant. The (quite short) interview was worse, seemingly taken in one shot, with not even enough care to keep background noises (such as laughter) from interfering. Hype really had little to say, and no questions were really posed to him. This interview could have been much better. If you like the videos themselves, get the DVD but don't expect too much from the extras.

Review: These are good videos, no doubt. Hype Williams was a big influence for people like Paul Hunter and Little X. But this whole set is disappointing and predictable. Why must he give us the videos that we've all seen a million times before and can still see today on BET or MTV? How many times have we seen TLC's "No Scrubs" and Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin'"? Where's all of the lesser-known works like Jay-Z's "Can't Knock the Hustle?" Where's R. Kelly's "I Can't Sleep Baby (remix)"? Lin'Que's "Let It Fall"? Any Missy videos? I was geeked to see Wu-Tang Clan's "Can It Be All So Simple" but was upset because they cut the preview of the "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuttin..." video with "coming soon" shown at the bottom. And the interview with Hype was pretty dull. You're better off taping these videos off the TV; at least then you'll get the uncensored version of "No Scrubs" (they block out the "a" and "h" words on here).

Summary: This is what video directing is all about
Review: This DVD was great. Hype williams has done so much hip hop videos and it is great to see some of his best work on one DVD. I especially enjoyed the commentaries on each video. It really gave insight to the video and directing process. The DVD also allowed me to see Hype's career, he done everything from commericals to video and doesn't show any signs of stoping. The whole DVD is awesom and I can wait for Volume 2. This is a must have for any hip hop video or Hype Williams Fan and a great buy.
