Summary: 5 stars simply does no justice...
Review: Have you ever had one of those moments that was so powerful that time slowed to almost nothing? While in that moment, could you imagine anything else but that particular corner of time in the world? This DVD manages to borrow one of those moments.I've been lucky enough to see Underworld perform live on 3 occasions, and each experience for me somehow builds on the previous one. Underworld can manipulate energy in a strong and beautiful manner, building to peaks and softening to bliss at the same time. Without a doubt, this captures the essence of not only Underworld on stage, but the very reason we seek out concerts in the first place. Not once yet have I been able to sit through even 2 minutes of any point of this DVD without literally getting choked up with a wave of emotion, and being washed back into one of those moments that time would stand still for. Summary: Visial vs Audio Art
Review: Hmmmm. This DVD is fantastic. But Actually, I have not even seen the concert portion. I bought it for the graphic art portion that is also included. I was lucky enough to see Underworld in Brussels, Belgium at the height of their last CD. It was a small venue and thus, I had a great view. The music was excellent but what really intrigued me and just plain left my mouth open was the video screens during the concert. I thought the graphics were incredible and if you ever have a chance to see Underworld, you should do what you can to see them. Anyway, when I heard that Underworld was releasing a DVD I had hoped that they included the art portion. Sure enough it is here. It is created by an agancy called TOMATO and I beleive it was founded by one of the members of Underworld. The video art is as chaotic and energetic as the music. The audio portion of the concert is played with the video art. I use the video art as a backdrop for parties. People rave about it all the time. Like I mentioned, I have never seen the concert portion probably because I saw them live and that was great enough. If you are a fanatic about graphic art, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Summary: Hate live concert footage? Try this.
Review: I am normally not that interested in live concert recordings. Even the sections of my CD collection where I have nearly all the CDs by my favorite artists will usually be missing any live CDs. And the same goes for video as well, although there, at least you get to see the artists doing their thing amidst a sea of frenzied onlookers. I love this DVD.
I just love it! Okay, admittedly you get the artists on stage doing their thing...but the camera work is just engaging enough that you don't get bored with it. And even if you do, there is the alternate choice of arty footage assembled by TOMATO, the art and design collective that Underworld happens to be a part of. You can opt for a decent stereo mix or immerse yourself in the 5.1 surround sound (secure the breakables before you start jumping around your living room). And if you're an Underworld fan, Karl Hyde will not speak to you again unless you own this DVD. Just kidding. Maybe. It's tasty. Buy it and don't feel sad that Darren Emerson left the group. Remember, he wasn't always there to begin with.

Summary: Assault on the senses.....
Review: I can attest...as anyone who has seen the band live that this just about comes as close as possible to re-creating their live experience...which is second to none. For not only fans of the band, but for anyone intereted in the state of art and music, this is truly an assault on your senses..and literally leaves you exhausted afterwards...they truly have managed to package a work which not only moves you physically with the music, which is culled from all 3 albums, but also emotionally and spiritually with their visuals, created by their Design Company Tomato, which add a truly subliminal and hypnotic feel on the entire experience. Buy the DVD and if you can, see them live...Cheers!

Summary: effing amazing
Review: I don't know about the official review near the top of the page, but this DVD is absolutely amazing. Dave McCoy, I don't think you've ever gone to a single rave, frankly I don't think you've even ever gotten up and danced. Everything, everything got me up and dancing a soon as Juanita come on. Not even the albums made me do that so immediately and so urgently. The tracks here are just like the album tracks but completely different. What I mean is that somehow these guys take the best parts of every song and made them bigger, fatter and fatter. On top of that you have Karl Hyde dancing like a puppet of satan. You can't get past this. Get it now.

Summary: Everything, everything you would expect and more.
Review: I had the privilege of seeing Underworld about a year and a half ago at House of Blues in Las Vegas. I have to say they are the best electronic live act I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot). Not only did the video bring back great memories of that show, I found the extras to be almost worth the price of admission. You can watch the live video, set up the DVD to play just the visuals (done very well by Tomato, by the way), and you can even program the DVD to play the songs in whatever order you want! If you have only a passing interest in the band, this vid will make you a fan

Summary: 5 stars is not enough
Review: I have had the pleasure of watching this DVD prior to its release and I can only say that I fully intend to own a copy... and I don't even own a DVD player. The sound is spectacular, giving you the option of regular audio or a special latest technology home theatre system mix. The tracks can be mixed at your leisure to create your own playlist. The extras (accessible only on a DVD ROM drive) look like a lot of fun. Now, lets talk about the visuals. If you know Underworld then you're probably familiar with the artistic collective that is Tomato. This is a Tomato production and it shows. Taken from footage shot at four (possibly five, can't remember) different stadium and festival gigs in Japan, England, Germany etc, the pictures flow between concert footage and the footage displayed on the huge screens behind the band. I sat down in front of the screen and didn't blink until the disk had finished. The mesmerising flood of video and audio is matched only by the vibe of excitement and energy you feel coming out of the crowd. I truly hope that Underworld decide to tour down here at some stage because if this is what they are like live then the experience is one not to be missed. Until then, I'll happily buy the DVD when it's released (and save up for the player).

Review: I love this dvd you cannot sit still and watch this hypermusic.I have a number of dvd*s,music, that I watch when I do recumbent bike and treadmill and this is one of the best.I would like to get more of these guys or something similar but still looking.

Summary: Good music squandered by cheap "rockumentary" footage
Review: I purchased this DVD in hopes that the provocative sound and progressivity of Underworld would be matched by an equally provocative and progressive video edit. And while the music onboard has not been disappointing in any way, the video has. Rather, the video is a "has-been." ADD concert video shots are slopily montaged upon empty and/or cliched symbols and signs in a manner that speaks too much of the Hollywood/AFI school of film. The banal post-heydey MTV production drags on without meaning or content for a full eighty-five minutes before its achieves its dreary and obvious end. Such pathetic videography and editing is obviously not the work of Underworld's - lest they best feel that their brand of sound is most appropriately coupled with C-grade imagery (though it might go quite well with Vertov or a Brakhage). While the "concert" footage is weak, the small redeeming portions of the DVD are found in the interesting HDD install and the "Live Tomato Video Art." The latter is interesting, but hardly revolutionary, avantgarde, experimental, etc.. Rather, it provides a more tolerable alternative to the "concert footage." The former (the install) provides more stimulation. While not allowing a HD or CD based play-back, the install does provide fascinating interactions on a web-"Flash"-type interface - with mouse drag characteristics, different sampling motifs, web-streaming, and links. The most irritating portion of the DVD was that there was no simple way of extracting the audio for use elsewhere (as in my car, which is bereft of a DVD player). While perhaps this could be expected, the indication on the DVD case stated "...Music Installation." This is a blatant-lie of the obvious kind. Sure, "music" was installed, but believe me, it isn't the music you had intended on listening to (little snippets of this or that - no continuous tracks). On the other hand, there are two "bonus tracks," which, while good, can be had without the irritations of this DVD (albeit, with legal scepticism). Frankly, i'd just listen to your friend's copy and save the moolah. I realize that a number of fans simply love this DVD by dint of the fact that it's an Underworld production. But beware, this DVD is more about Recording Industry fleecing that art-begetting-art. Buy the CD used, and watch your friend's copy of this DVD: you'll see what i mean.
