Rating: Summary: This is why they're the best band ever Review: This film is for critics and fans alike. sit down for just over an hour and let the boys blow you away. nothing bad can be said about this film. it's just pink floyd, plain and simple, right in your face. David Gilmour pushes the stratocaster to new limits while Rick Wright's organ and piano arrangments will have your head spinning. All this laid to the rhythm of Roger Waters and Nicky Mason, which is sure to light a fire under your feet. Whenever someone asks me why i think pink floyd is so special, i just throw on live at pompeii for them and let the music speak for itself. "These guys are good!"
Rating: Summary: Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii review Review: If you're a pre 1972 Floyd fan, this is the best that they have produced, from the trace like Echos to the eary Set the controls for the heart of the Sun. The setting is in Ancient Rome's Pompeii ampitheater which complements the music perfectly. They could have only bettered this if they had played in front of Khufu's Pyramid on the Rosja (Giza) plateau. 80 minutes of pure genius - floyd at their best!
Rating: Summary: Powerful ! Review: Strong, intense, magical, mystical, classical, memorable, magnificent, grand, and yet, simple. No public, no flashes, no opus, but still catching. I was just mesmerized when I watched for the first time, though I think they could have played some cuts from other great albums (Piper, Ummagumma, Atom) instead of just Saucerful and Meddle (besides their immortal anthem: Eugene...)
Rating: Summary: Mindblowing Review: This film is the best in depth piece of Floydian history I have ever seen. If you like Floyd as much as I do you must see this. The band performs some of its best songs to the ghosts of Pompeii. Rather than play footage of a regular Floyd gig, they play in some old ruins to basically the film crew. One of These Days and Saucerful are awesome. What am I saying? Every song on this film is awesome. They even show the recording sessions for Dark Side of the Moon. I didnt realise a concert video could be so cool and dead on. Buy this video if you know whats good for you!
Rating: Summary: amazing Review: If you're a Pink Floyd fan, then this is a video you need to see. It gives you a small glimpse of the genious of the greatest experimental band of all time. Nick Mason is an amazing drummer, and he seems to be highlighted in this video. Roger Waters, Dave Gilmour and Richard Wright also shine in their amazing performances of great Floyd classics. The setting is also eerie and somber, adding a great mood to the music. The film really blew my mind when I saw David Gilmour jam on the blues harp when playing Seamus from Meddle. It rocks! Must see!
Rating: Summary: Pompeii is the Definitive Floyd VHS Review: The Floyd playing ECHOES part I in the sun-splashed arena by day as the camera tracks in slowly(awesome).Waters pounding the heck out of the gong on Saucerful of Secrets, slow motion sequences during One of These Days, strangely lit scene during Set the Controls & Wright's keyboarding, and the making of Dark Side with interviews.Need I say more, this is the definitive Floyd VHS.Non-Floyd fans don't even knock this one because if you don't appreciate the Floyd then you won't like this anymore than you would The Wall.
Rating: Summary: Best of the Best Review: This was the first Pink Floyd video I ever saw.. and I think the best.. the scenes of them walking around on the volcano were awesome! And the concept of the movie was great.. just the band alone in this ancient amphitheatre playing their music... I think my favorite scene was Echoes.. Parts one and two! And the added bonus of seeing them actually recording Dark Side of The Moon is enough to make you want this movie. Long live The Floyd!
Rating: Summary: late night flick Review: this video is awsome. i almost liked it more than pulse. its the perfect tape to unwind to at four in the morning after a long night of parting hardy.i would recommend it to any floyd fan...young or old.
Rating: Summary: A Definate MUST HAVE! Review: I rate this video 100 STARS! You've got to have this one! This is the best of CLASSIC PINK FLOYD! Echoes was the best! You have to see it!
Rating: Summary: A very different concert Review: Interesting concept, playing in an empty ancient arena. I like it. The volcanoe eruption footage is cool, as is the comentary by the band members between songs. I believe that anyone who likes early Pink Floyd music will enjoy this video. My favorite segment was "Echoes"
