Rating: Summary: The Best Review: I just received my video on Monday and have watched it twice. Was a little hesitant about ordering it because some of the reviews I read said the video and sound quality was not good. I did not see that at all. It was excellent. I loved all the close ups of Engelbert!! I have loved him since the days of dating my husband with his little red volkswagen and our 8-track tape of him. We actually wore it out listening to it. I still cry every time I hear "Release Me." He has changed some of the ways he sings his old hits, but for the better!! My last goal in life is to see him live in concert. My life will then be complete! The video Live at the London Palladium makes me want that more than ever. He is still so good looking and has so much talent.

Rating: Summary: Engelbert Live where it all started for him - The BEST! Review: Now if you want Enge at his very very best, this is it. I watch this one over and over and over again, especially on DVD and stereo. He has the audience up and dancing and singing with him and still as handsome and the voice is at it's best yet at the age of 66. What talent, can't be matched anywhere. I am a fan since he started in 1967 so I would know if he has gotten better and beleive me he has. With songs like Quando and Strangers in the Night you want to get up and dance with him and the audience. This DVD is the One. Thanks Enge! Hugs Lucy

Rating: Summary: Engelbert Magic 2001 Review: Recorded in March of 2000, Engelbert Live at the London Palladium is a true work of musical showmanship. One may ask why it would take so long for something like this to be released since it became available commercially a short while ago. For one thing, it was worth the wait and Engelbert knew exactly what he was doing. Reworking Vangelis' "Chariots of Fire" and blending it with "Release Me" for an introduction certainly gives a progressive outlook on the crooner's decade-spanning career. The concert was preceeded by a brand new CD release titled, "It's All In The Game". In the show itself, Engelbert mentions this and performs a few of the songs featured on the album as well as 20 or so timeless pieces. They range from his own hits to covers of pop songs. He truly handles covers with gentleness, being careful not to take full credit for the song's beauty. Delivering Lionel Richie's 1980 hit, "Still" as his first ballad, we're told that he loves singing love songs. And he does rather well at it. Later, he surprises the audience with an hilarious punch at rap music and then launches into some rock 'n roll tunes to delight the crowd. Old fans and new are in for a treat all the way around with this colorful and sharp sounding millennial concert. Some may be familiar with Engelbert's excursion into dance music, based on a previous album done in 1998. He does it again with a bold and new arrangement of the classic Sinatra ballad, "Strangers In The Night". Originality is at work on this surprising dance mix. While many dance mixes take the ballad and add a repetitive backbeat, that is not the case here by far. What follows is another borderline R&B ballad, "How To Win Your Love". Engelbert grabs every song, whether its one he is known for or not, and sees to the listener's heightened appreciation of it. As an added bonus to the album which is designed to be a companion to the DVD, a small batch of songs from the show are selected as "live" tracks. We might call this, "Engelbert's Millennial Magic". It's a fine example of true pop music entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Engelbert Magic 2001 Review: Time, preparation, and attention to detail play a major role in this concert filmed last year. March of 2000 may seem like a long time ago, considering this DVD was just released a short while back. Nevertheless, Engelbert knew what he was doing. Taking a good ten years to record another concert was well worth the duration. New fans as well as old will undoubtedly find themselves smiling at this spectacle and wanting to play it over and over again. Based on his new album, "It's All In The Game", the concert contains at least 22 songs with an interesting opening number, blending two great pieces. Reworking Vangelis' "Chariots of Fire" gives the show a "millenium" feeling like we're embarking on new presentations of material spanning his career. A handful of the songs are presented in concert format for the new album, including the Frank Sinatra classic, "Strangers In The Night". Engelbert launches into a dance version of the song unlike any ever heard. He takes the classic song and boldy pumps it up, and not just by attaching a repetitive backbeat to its original ballad arrangement either. And not being one to stop with surprising originality, Engelbert delivers another tune, "How To Win Your Love". With this new song and the previous dance excursion, Engelbert proves he's still got it and not stopping just yet. The color is dazzling. The sound is crystal clear. It's no question this concert is magical, original, and in keeping with past shows, unfailingly memorable. Be prepared for a musical wake-up, big time.
Rating: Summary: Engelbert Humperdinck - Live at the London Palladium Review: Well, I expected more from Engelbert. I haven't seen him perform in a while, and I was disappointed with his performance in this DVD. The sound and picture quality is good. His voice was off several times, and I think he should of avoided the songs he can't really sing properly anymore......this show was rather boring - his movements are rather dead. There were a few good songs, with help from the band, but I frankly didn't care
for this show. Sorry.
