Summary: What kind of fool am I to buy this???
Review: A big one. This is very old. It is representative of what was so pathetic and tacky about the 80s. I was not sure what he was doing writhing on the ground like that. He may have been possessed by an unseen evil(he did date Linda Blair for a short while) or was feeling the effects of some type of social disease that was so prevalent in the pre aids 80s... But who knows, who cares?? This was the eighties at it's worst. This is for die hard fans only or for someone wanting an 80s flash back. Just keep the remote handy as this is something that can only be enjoyed in small (very small)doses. Did I love it? NO! But Rick loves himself enough for the both of us. So who cares??

Summary: Rick Rocks!
Review: A great concert video that is now FINALLY available on DVD.

This is worth having for several reasons, but I would have bought it just to have the video for DANCE THIS WORLD AWAY. What a classic. It's a shame this was never in heavy rotation on MTV. This song should have been a big, big hit.

Summary: Excellent 80s Show!
Review: Having only recently become a Rick Springfield fan, I wasn't too sure what to expect from this DVD. Having just watched it, I can confirm that I'm now a bigger fan than before! Rick had an incredible amount of energy to be able to jump around, dance, play guitar & piano, and give a very strong vocal performance for the entire show.

Several tracks from TAO (Dance This World Away, State Of The Heart, Celebrate Youth) are music videos rather than live performances, and they add a sense of variety to the show. Personally, I would have liked to have had a few more videos added as bonus features, but that's besides the point.

Rick manages to shift the mood between his very personal and touching song about his father's death (My Father's Chair), and an excellent performance of Jessie's Girl in seconds!

I would highly recommend this DVD to all fans of 80s power pop, and anyone who wonders why Rick Springfield was such a success!

Summary: Has it REALLY been 17 years???-Nah cause I'm only 20....
Review: I consider myself one, along with many others, as one of Rick's biggest fans, following his career from about the time I was 10 and up through the present day.

And for us teens in the 80's who were Rick fans this gave us a chance to see him in concert, I have seen him a total of four times live- in my life time-- twice as a teen, twice as an adult
and each time you see Rick, even today the shows have the same energy and vibe as "Beat of the Live Drum" captures in 1985.

And as any money challenged teen from 1985- (no money for actual concert tix) will tell you,
having Rick, in concert, even via the TV, got adolescent girls
what I have called ( and possibly many others)Through a "Rick Fix".

And also I believe that for those of you that have not seen this
concert on video either because you just hadn't had the opportunity to see it
it, or you weren't a fan of Rick's in the 80's,

Give it a shot because, Rick is the consummate show- man with
consummate skill... of never leaving an audience disppointed.

As far as previous comments (by other posters) being written
that Rick uses a vulgar gesture I have watched this on tape many times and I have not seen it, perhaps the poster was looking for things, to be able to post negative comments about Rick.

My opinion is that Rick has ALWAYS been respectful to his audience
and that is why he is so great to see live, he really connects with his audience and seems to be grateful to everyone who comes out to see his shows.

Thanks to all whom read post.

PS- BTW I'll actually be 34 in October
but this concert takes me back to being 17 again
AH nostalgia...

Summary: IT IS ABOUT TIME!
Review: I remember first buying this video, when it first came out in 1985, on VHS tape! I loved it! I am so glad it finally came out in DVD format!!

Simply put--Rick Springfield at his ultimate best!!

Recorded in 1985, Rick is promoting his Tao album. Includes music videos for "Celebrate Youth", "Dance This Worls Away", and "State Of The Heart"

Summary: Like a fine wine...Rick Springfield gets better with age!
Review: I remember when this video came out on VHS in 1985 I rented it numerous times back then I couldn't afford to buy it. I never thought I would give this concert less than 5 stars but seeing him again in concert in 2002 has truly been an eye opening experience. I updated all my old tapes with CD's and have been looking for this particular DVD. I am glad that I do have this to add to my collection but I was dissapointed in the fact that he never even talked to all the screaming fans..he was more into putting on an excellent concert and it was too choregraphed Rick seems to be somewhere else. I know I am being bold in making these statements but he didnt seem to be enjoying the stage like he does now I just see such a HUGE difference in his performances now. He is so personable and he acts happy to be on stage smiling, cracking jokes, bringing fans up on stage, going out in the crowd with his guitar and singing with such passion. I hope he puts out another concert DVD soon that expresses his recent concert success. Don't get me wrong it was very enjoyable to see this concert again it brought back a lot of memories from the 80's I just feel that he is getting better with age and you can't always say that about past teen idols!!!

Summary: Good Show but a bit too wild at times..
Review: I thought that this was a good concert but at times he gets a bit too wild on stage... His shining moment was the April 24th 1981 tribute to his father... All in all a good show.. the video "Dance this world away" was a laugh riot..

The thing that I did not like about it was he was crawling around onstage and at another point he is pointing at his head with his middle finger...

I think that you should prescreen this for the younger set of Springfield fans...

Summary: My opinion
Review: Rick Springfield was on such a high in the 1980s. I thought that this was a good concert but he could get a little too wild at times...
April 24 1981 is a wonderful tribute to his father who died before Working Class Dog was released. He even has personal photos of his parents flash on the big screen as he plays the piano..
Dance this world away is a funny video to watch... He looks like Wayne Newton one minute, Mr. Rogers, the next and a skinny looking Chris Reeve the next... Dispite the serious message that the video has, you can't help but laugh at how funny Rick looked.

Aside the videos, there is not much that I could say about the concert fotage... At times he is seen crawling around on stage.. At another point he uses his middle finger to point at his mike headset...

This is good for those that want to remember the 1980's teen idol. I will buy it for some of the videos, but this is for serous fans only.

Summary: Go figure
Review: This is a great concert! This was made in '85 to help promote his album TAO which included the songs Celebrate Youth and State of the Heart. Was he too wild? No! The wildest thing he did was a somersault during Don't Talk to Strangers. Be sure and cover the kid's eyes during that. No foul language or lewd acts of any kind (middle finger?? what?). Even if he did, which he didn't, he's a ROCK SINGER! Wow. As far as looking funny - I guess she makes it up as she goes. Besides, I don't think anybody cares to remember what they were wearing 17 years ago. Why write a review on the same item twice and say practically the same thing? Someone needs to grow up and move on. I've noticed that after reading her "see more about me". I didn't know the Monkees were such music icons.
