Summary: Queen of Video
Review: Madonna sets the standard for all other artist. Although not many admit it every other female artist is influenced by her. Take A Bow and Secret from the album Bedtime Stories standout. The album was overlooked. But 5 years later the songs and videos prove to be classics. The part where Madonna is trapped in the tv in Take A Bow is the greatest and she looks so hot in that video. Secret is not very flashy or hyped up but it is a very classy video to accompany the classic midtempo song. Frozen, I believe is more artsy than Ray Of Light. I love the part when she drops on the dried up desert floor and breaks into black crows. Also when she is transformed into the dog. She's beautiful in all except for Nothing Really Matters, What the hell was she thinking? Fever's best part is when she is covered in silver, great remake of that song by the way. However, I wish she would release a greatest live performances video. Her performance of Fever in the Girlie Show tour is Mesmerizing. And La Isla Bonita on that same tour is very well choreographed. She is a great dancer, I wish she would do the same type of choreoghraphy she does on her tours in her videos.

Review: No one knows how to make a music video like Madonna. And no one knows how to package a video collection like Madonna. So, why did she omit such stand-out productions like "Erotica," "You'll See," "Deeper and Deeper," "You Must Love Me" and-- reaching back-- "This Used to Be My Playground?" I expected a full playlist, but will have to live with my grainy VHS copies for these titles (if the draining "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" video made it through the cutting process, why didn't "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina"?). Of course, the body of work is stellar, but why stop short of a collective home run? I am dissappointed. But, knowing Madonna, she will probably issue a limited re-release with all these titles included. And I'll probably buy it.

Summary: A seamless picture of the evolution of a Material Girl.
Review: While countless people may whine about the inclusion (or lack thereof) of certain videos, The Video Collection is a comprehensive and cohesive collection, showing Madonna's evolution from fame-grabbing, bedhopping executive sexpot (Bad Girl) to caring, centered earth mother (Frozen, Drowned World). Mark Romanek exhibits his obvious talent in eye candy videos like Rain and Bedtime Story, and Director David Fincher magnifies Bad Girl to a lonely ballad to a compassionate tale. The video is aided by the inclusion of the bland but entertaining "Love Don't Live Anymore"; it serves as an excellent link from the fiery, angry individualism in "Human Nature," and the aching compassion in "Frozen." From Harlem (Secret) to Madrid (Take A Bow), the collection doesn't disappoint.

Summary: Just like a muse to me....
Review: When I heard that some videos like I Want You, You'll See, and Deeper & Deeper were being left out, I was upset and all set to slam this video on Amazon.

But I gave in and bought it. And loved it.

It starts off with the beautiful, moving video, Bad Girl...Madonna plays a lost career girl. Christopher Walken is her playful guardian angel. It seems to end tragically but there's redemption and a happy ending. It'll leave you smiling.

Everything on here is a sumptuous feast for the eyes, heart, and mind.

I love Rain. So crisp and clear like a bright sun after the storm.

And Drowned World is alot of fun for those of you who've ever dreamed about being a star. This woe is me celebrity tale moves with beautiful fluidity.

It ends with the sexy psychedelic Beautiful Stranger. A sure sonic sign of where Madonna is headed next...the future is sure to be an exciting trip for all.

Madonna is an infinite source of love, art, light, and fun...

Like I said before, always a happy ending...

Summary: deserves all my stars
Review: sure we have to question the motive to leave out certain videos; and of coarse we have to wonder who's ultimate decision it was (maddy's or time warner's); but as much as that aspect sucks, the videos assembeled here are some of the very finest ever created. damn! she started the decade as an unprecedented video artist and now she finishes the century on an even higher level. my faves are bad girl (oh my god, could it get any better than this?), fever (go gurl), rain (just fantastic), drowned world, and nothing really matters (hatsumomo got it goin on). the only other problem (irritation, really) is that we never get to see those remixed videos that we all know exist.

Summary: A great video history of her reign in the 1990's.
Review: Though it's lacking great music videos of "Justify my love" and "You'll See" it's still a keeper.

Summary: This is so typical
Review: I wrote a review on this video last week and was upset to see that it was not posted, but I refuse to let amazon make me quiet, reguardless of my anger. We Madonna fans have waited almost ten damn years for this compilation. And it was almost not surprising to hear that the Erotica video wouldnt be on it because I have never seen it and have always said I would do anything TO see it, therfore I have come to terms with being condemned to never see it. If it actually WERE on the compilation I probably would have dropped from shock. However I must ask the obvious... Warner Brothers is so full of it and I cant beleive that we are going to allow them to do this to us. This is so STUPID! The tape itself is like 68 minutes or something and I heard they were trying to figure out which video to switch so it could "fit"..... Im sorry but the last time I checked, video tapes ran an average of 2 hours....perhaps Warner Brothers doesnt know this.

Now do we think that maybe Madonna does not want certain videos to represent her in the long run? This is funny. I have to take a moment to laugh on that thought. Madonna ashamed of something SHE has done. Or do we want to beleive that Warner Brothers had the higher say over her, and that she had to go along with their orders, ok now Im laughing to hard, it hurts, but brace yourself people, because one of those options are correct, but the question is which one?

Maybe 'Deeper and Deeper' didnt match the color of the box, Maybe 'You'll See' would have made the compilation a little TOO great, maybe 'I want You' was a little too... um ... fantastic.

Warner Brothers has given us a damn edited version of Madonna's career, and for that, we Madonna fans should march over there and burn the place to the ground. But we must leave a few pieces standing, that way they could understand what we have done because to work at Warner Brothers you are not allowed to know what a "COMPLETE" piece of work is.

What was that Madonna? Express yourself don't repress yourself?

Oh nevermind, I thought you said that.

Summary: Breathtaking
Review: I can understand the uproar over the omission of Erotica, Deeper & Deeper, I Want You and You'll See but after watching this video compilation I never even missed those videos. The flurry of images in this collection is intoxicating. Madonna has virtually no competition in this genre. Nowhere else can you find such high-quality music videos in one package. The video for Drowned World/ Substitute for Love alone is more than worth the price of admission. It's the first time I ever shed a tear watching a music video. When Madonna as a child tugged at your heart in the video for Oh Father (from the Immaculate Collection), Madonna as an adult will break your heart in Drowned World. It's a brutally honest video. STOCKING STUFFER OF THE YEAR!

Review: Finally no more numbers in the corner saying the rank of the week. This dvd version is the way the videos were ment to be seen. And now all of us in the U.S. can finally see Substitute for love. A MUST FOR ALL MADONNA FANS. She is brillant!

Summary: Bravo!
Review: This compilation is a testament to the fact that in the realm of music video, Madonna is simply unparalleled. Her innovation and trailblazing attitude, her dancer's imagination, her contagious drive to expand both herself and her audience's artistic horizons all find their tangible centerstage in this artform. Her video performances are nuanced and eloquent...elements as subtle as a gaze (be it by herself or the camera), a tilt of the head, a sweep of the arm, the interplay of color and beat, are married with blatant and more obvious themes. Each video is a carefully choreographed dance; yet it is Madonna's performance that unifies the finished product into one passionate and spontaneous package. She takes the viewer on a journey, from the subdued watercolor brilliance of The Power of Goodbye, the techno dreamscape of Bedtime Story, the textured eroticism of Rain, the raptured desert Goddess in Frozen, to a happy-go-lucky dance floor romp in Beautiful Stranger. Here Madonna once again gives us the trademark wink-and-smile, the clown from The Girlie Show who tells the audience, "Don't take this too seriously!", as she bows and disappears behind the curtain.
