Summary: Metallica once again set the pace with this production
Review: Once again Metallica has gone above and beyond the middle ground of many other performers. This high quality production sets the standard of all other groups and calls anyone interested out to try and "one better" them. Can you expect anything less from a band that will only release something that they can be proud of? I strongly recommend this DVD to any and all people who have just purchased their DVD player to see the quality that they can expect. Thank you to Metallica for the best and a double thank you for all of the added extras!

Summary: "YOU WANT HEAVY....'TALLICA GIVES YOU HEAVY, BABY!!!"
Review: I have never been a "big fan" of this band, however, in the last year i have grown to appreciate their style of music, and the quality of their recordings. The concert dvd was not a dissapointment. The different camera angles and the digital 5.1 surround make this a must see(and hear) concert. It meet all my expectations, and then some. The sound, the video, the fireworks all make this a must own for any Mettalica fan. Even if you're not a fan go buy this concert dvd, you will instantly be won over. I know I was, and I will be at their next concert in new york.

Summary: The BEST DVD EVER!!!
Review: Metallic

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Exceptional quality but not what they used to be.
Review: Having been a huge Metallica fan for almost half of my 34 years, it was no surprise to me that I would plunk down $30 for this DVD. New video technology, excellent sound, etc. were all reasons to buy this. The quality of this video is exceptional. Great camera work, sound, lighting. It was all great. But Metallica has lost the edge they used to have. Hearing James Hetfield straining on vocals, I couldn't sit through this video. Although the musicianship is still top-notch, they sound to me like a very tired band. The newer material is also not my cup of tea and to have only a medley of the killer old stuff, it just didn't do it for me. I own almost everything Metallica ever put out, cd's and videos, but had to draw the line on Re-Load. I may pick it up at a second-hand cd store sometime. Kirk Hammett remains the best guitarist in the world as does Lars Ulrich on drums. Diehard Metallica fans-buy this DVD. Those old timers-spend your money elsewhere.

Summary: review from a 65 year old jazz musician
Review: I rented the video, and I like live concerts---I just got my home theater up and running, and if you would like to be at a Metallica concert without actually being there, this has to be it--- I do not like hard rock, but this video is a tour de force----everything from fireworks to you name it---and a lot of special features----get the two disc set---not one of the separate parts---highly recommended, well recorded sound, and lighting, and a real theatrical performance by these rockers-my hats are off to them, and I do now respect their artistry more---after watching the two video discs in the set----If you are a Metallica fan and don't have this, go out and buy a home theater just for this one set :)

Summary: Great with the exception of Hetfield's strained vocals
Review: Don't get me wrong I am a HUGE Metallica fan! The quality of this DVD is unmatched when compared with other music DVD's. The picture is phenominal. The sound is incredible. The camera work and behind the scenes footage makes this a fun DVD, but 5 stars? Too often Hetfield sounds strained when doing earlier material. He has lost that edgy sound in his voice. He can no longer pull it off live. Buy this DVD. It's awesome! Just don't expect the Hetfield of old. It becomes difficult to watch the DVD in one sitting, listening to Hetfield strain. That's why I give it 3 stars. Jason and Lars will bow your mind in this DVD. Enjoy.

Summary: Metallica makes a really cool DVD!
Review: I've never been a superbig Metallica fan, but I have to give 'em two thumbs up for this one. This DVD will set a new standard for how to do concert videos. Metallica is a band that truly cares about their fans and continues to develop its music and image. The band is also known for putting in great effort into its videos and other releases, this is a prime example...Great stuff from Metallica, again!

Summary: Shows the talents of the sound crew, but not the band.
Review: If you want to be wowed by your home theater's sound abilities, check this one out and play it LOUD! Sub-woofer required. Don't bother with it, though, if you only have a mono TV with VHS. While the sound QUALITY is great, the band's performance (read: vocals) is terrible. We've all witnessed Hetfield's voice being reduced from a great roar to a pathetic yelp in recent years. Cunning Stunts shows him at a new low: Yelping off key! Really, any drunk at a karoke bar could sing Hero of the Day better than this. They need a new singer. What a shame, too, because the rest of the band is so "on". I deducted one star for this. The second star deducted was for the boring set-list. Aside from an early version of Fuel, this is the same old stuff Metallica fans have already heard too many times. How about Phantom Lord or Escape... and SING IT RIGHT!

Summary: DVD killer app!
Review: This is what concerts on DVD should be like! Once other bands take a look at this, hopefully they'll know what to do.

Not a Metallica fan? Get it anyway, period.
