Review: I own three other Sinatra Series from this DVD set. I must say, in terms of the stereophonic recording, the energy of the music and the video quality, this one is the best. The other items from this series may serve some historical purpose but for true musical enjoyment, this is the ONE. In this DVD, you hear strong Sinatra vocal, along with the super super Fitzgerald's performance. Adding strength to the whole show, Nelson Riddle's big band is true superb and the modern recording technology captured the music much better than anyone I have seen/heard......

Summary: Frank, Ella & Jobim....Terrific performances!
Review: I really enjoyed this video. There's nothing like the lyrics of those older love songs. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because the picture quality isn't the best, however, for it's age, I guess, it is still very good. This is a must have, and
I recommend it to anyone who loves Sinatra and Ella. Jobim was good too.

Summary: Nice historical video, poor video and sound quality.
Review: If you're a big fan I think this DVD is great, but to me it doesn't worth the price, I should have bought the VHS and would got the same quality and entertainment or just save the money for a later reissue, this is just a poor raw conversion of the video, no enhancements at all, although it's really nice to see Sinatra, Ella and Jobin I was very dissapointed about the image and sound quality.

Review: It does not and will never get better than this. Sinatra, Ella and Jobim and their best. Frank and Ella even make silk out of some silly 60's songs. Frank is sublime at the absolute top of his game. Jobim and Frank provide the ultimate in romantic cool. Franks' and Ella's second duet segment has to be one one the music industries greatest moments. You will never tire of this one!

Summary: Ella outshines Frank and Tom.
Review: Sinatra is a little hokey on this program (a TV special from the mid-60s) but Ella is fantastic. She is her usual awkward self when it comes to making TV banter with Sinatra, but they are great together on their duets. The closing duet on "Lady is a Tramp" is th highlight. Tom Jobim is given short shrift and is featured only as an accompanist for Sinatra in a rather short segment.

Summary: Frank and Antonio are Tops!
Review: This is a "must have" video primarily because of that too brief segment where Frank and Antonio Jobim combine their peerless talents on the the "Girl from Ipanema"; "Change Partners", "I Concentrate on you." I play that segment over and over and over. It is beautiful and touching. Both artists' sensitivity reach out and grab and hold. Marvelous!

Review: This is an excellent show, and probably my favorite of the Sinatra shows currently available. The main attraction for many will be the exhilarating duets between Frank and Ella Fitzgerald, and no one will be disappointed here, I assure you. They even mesmerize us while joking their way through a medley of modern pop tunes, turning in a definitive Going Out Of My Head without even trying. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, and it's a shame we never got a studio album from them, because as these performances make clear, it would have been a classic.The segment with Antonio Carlos Jobim is very brief, yet also rather enjoyable. Sinatra puffs casually an a cigarette as the lounging duo breeze gently through some material from their album Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim. For me, the real special treat from this show is Frank's stunning performance of Old Man River. Truly a master work of live performance, anyone doubting Sinatra's true singing ability would do well to witness it. Outclassing even his great performance on The Concert Sinatra album, it is a fine showcase for the man's sense of theatrics, emotional nuance, and churning melancholy. I'd try to describe the thrilling vocal feat which Frank achieves near the end of the tune, but I would fail miserably. Suffice to say that I have seen Sinatra skeptics converted on the spot. For this alone the show is worth the price of admission, but you get a hell of a lot more. Enjoy.

Summary: Sinatra's Best TV Performance
Review: This is one of the greatest hour long musical specials ever produced and it is now on DVD. Not only is Sinatra superb, but this is one of the pitiful few on-screen performances of Antonio Carlos Jobim available. Jobim was an amazing composer and performer and his segment, though brief, is worth the price of this disc alone. Ellas singing here reminds us of how truly blessed we were to have her on this planet and how completely musical she was. This is "historic" for sure, but don't be fooled.... this is also pure entertainment and a disc you will watch over and over as I have and still do. A joy.

Summary: Worth The Price Just To Hear Frank & Ella
Review: This is probably the best of the 5 or 6 Sinatra television specials that have been released on video over the past 10 years or so. And that is true for one reason; those 15 or so minutes that Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, both still in their prime, show the world what could have been if only they'd followed through on those plans to make an album together. The duets they sing togther, starting with "Goin' Out of My Head" and ending with "Lady Is a Tramp" are, quite simply, perfect. These are obviously two singers who love working together, one only wishes they did so more often. The closing rendition of "Lady Is A Tramp" ranks as one of the best moments in the history of American popular song ever captured on film; I'm just glad the camera's were there to capture it. The duets with Jobim are great as well, but honestly, if you want to hear the Frank and Tom Jobim at their best, you need to go listen to the albums they made. The real treat on this video is Frank and Ella, and if you're a fan of either singer (or just a fan of good music in general), you need to do yourself a favor and pick this one up.
