Summary: "3 1/2 Years of Metallica summed Up in 90 Minutes"
Review: This 90 minute DVD (or VHS) is a great look at the "old Metallica", before they began to slide in 1996, with the release of the mediocre "Load" album. I actually purchased this tape during the "ReLoad" era, and was blown away by the raw energy of their early live shows, and Cliff Burton's "Hendrix-style" bass pyro-technics. The tracks "Creeping Death", "Fade to Black", "Sanitarium", and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" are worth the $20 alone you will pay for this collection. The other tunes are recorded a bit less professionally, but the sound quality is decent. "Dave Mustaine (former-Megadeth)" is featured on lead guitar on one song, and Cliff Burton's 2nd gig ever is captured on film as well. If you love the recordings "Kill 'Em All", "Ride the Lightning", "Master of Puppets", and "Garage Days 1984", then this rare glimpse of early Metallica is a great purchase. Hey, also check out
"Live Sh*t (DVD version)(2002)", "Cunning Stunts (1998)", and "The Making of the Black Album (2001 documentary)."
"Live Sh*t" is by far Metallica's best live release. Every hit single, cover song, and fan favorite is featured.

Summary: Awesome
Review: Cliff Em' All is an awesome video. It really shows how cool of a live band Metallica was back in the day. This album shows the brilliance of Cliff Burton, it is filled with all sorts of brilliant bass solos by the bass master. The picture quality is poor but it is cool to see Metallica play in some underground clubs. Also one of the songs has Dave Mustaine playing on guitar which is always awesome to see. Cliff Em' All showcases Metallica at the peak of there career. It is a must have for all Metallica fans. Buy It.

Summary: long live cliff
Review: I couldnt give this 5 stars because the quality was pretty bad at times, even for a vhs, but by golly, its the only chance you will ever get to see cliff again. Bass playing the has influenced and stunned musicians for generations to come...for that it could almost get a 5

Summary: Best of his time
Review: The quality of this video is not that happening the vibe is thier so that is what is important. Even Lars tells this on the box of the vid!! This was back when Metallicas music was just great. Cliff definately had an influence on the band and brought out the best of the band. You get to see songs the band havent played in years and years. He was just a amazing bass player, even above Steve Harris(Iron Maiden). Its too bad he isnt around today; Metallica may have been a different story than what we hear present. If you are a newbie to Metallica get this DVD and see what the band once was.....

Summary: Cliff Burton, R.I.P.
Review: I bought this DVD for my fiance, and he LOVES it! He says it is one of the best musical masterpeices he has heard/seen (in so many words). I watched it with him the other night, and it is definetly a GREAT dvd! So I definetly recommend this. Surely all hardcore Cliff fans already own this one :)

Summary: Cliff forever
Review: I saw Cliff Burton live twice. What an amazing talent. Such a shame he died so young. Unlike most rockers who die before they reach the age of thirty, it wasn't Cliff's fault. He was asleep on his tour bus when it crashed in Europe. That said, this DVD shows the REAL Metallica. Not that watered down, Poplica that we have been putting up with since the god-awful Black album.

I remember the old days. Those of us who wore our Metal up your ... T-shirts to high school were a special group indeed. No one knew who Metallica were except for a select few. They were underground, dangerous, and played the most kick butt rock n roll ever heard.

This DVD captures Metallica in all their glory with Cliff Burton, "The major rager on the four string mother ...." as introduced by Jaymz. Bass solos that will blister your ears, the greatest versions of 'Seek and Destroy' and 'For Whom the Bell Tolls" you'll ever hear, and Cliff footage showing Cliff at his humorous best. Did you know ZZ Top was a big influence of his?

A lot of people complain that this DVD is no good because it's mostly bootleg footage shot from the crowd. I disagree, the poor quality footage and 'not so happening' sound only enhances the Cliff legend. Back in the days when you didn't know who Metallica was unless you bought an album or went to a show. They were against the establishment, against polished up MTV videos, and against everything that metal was that made itself a joke. Metallica was real and this was real, unmixed, raw footage. It's the Metallica we remember and love, and will never see again.

This is the only Metallica DVD worth buying in my opinion. It brings me back to high school parties when we were the bad dudes who dug Metallica.

I was a junior in high school when Cliff died and we were all shocked and in disbelief. When reality hit, it was a sad time for us. Gone was metal's most original bass player. Metallica wanted him so bad in the begining that they packed up and moved from LA to San Fran just to have him.

Metallica was at it's greatest when they had a bass player that wore bluejean bell-bottoms and a Misfits T-shirt. There are some who still remember Cliff and will never forget his impact on music. Like Randy Rhodes, we can only wonder and wish what might have happened if he was still here. For all the new fans who started listening to Metallica when "Enter Sandman' was on MTV every 15 minutes, buy this DVD and get a true introduction to 'old school'.

R.I.P. Cliff, the true fans will never forget.

Summary: A good DVD, if you can give it a chance
Review:

Metallica, as you know, ain't too cool these days. Old school Metallica, on the other hand, was easily the dominating force in thrash-oriented heavy metal. As many of you know, their finest bassist Cliff Burton was killed in a bus accident on September 27, 1986. Wanting to pay homage to their departed comrade, the band released its first home video: Cliff 'em All. It contains several live performances the band did with Cliff from 1983-1986, including his first gig with the band! There's even one performance back when Dave Mustaine was on lead guitar (best known for his role in Megadeth.) Between several of the concerts there are scenes of the band doing various things, including being interviewed by a local news station and being asked about their influences, buying beer, and various other things. BE WARNED: THE VISUAL QUALITY OF THIS DVD IS, IN MOST PLACES, NOT GOOD. The original source tapes were bootlegs by fans, and old videos the band took. We're talkin' 80's video cassette tapes here, and because fans recorded many of them, the picture can be blurry, shaky, and even blacked out at moments. Also the sound/music is in mono, not stereo (though you probably don't care about that unless you have a big-time sound system.) Lastly, the DVD is lacking extras. If you like old-school Metallica with Cliff in the line up, you should check out this DVD, but due to the quality you may want to rent before buying. This is a cool item, if you can give it a chance.
