Summary: First-rate performance in every way
Review: I knew this girl could sing, but after watching this DVD, I'm convinced that she has the best young voice in the universe. Aside from having stellar pipes, Christina also shows us a diverse vocal style, poised stage persona, muture admiration for older genres of music and their practitioners, and a great rapport with the audience. I'm a fan of hers now. [I only wish this disc ran a lot longer than 65 minutes].

Aside from fourteen solidly performed songs, there is also some behind-the-scenes video footage, excerpts from interviews, and some well spoken on-stage commentary from Christina herself. The balance is tipped heavily in favor of the performance (my preference), but the in-between stuff is interesting without being overly indulgent. Christina shows great poise, both while singing and while addressing the viewers (this performance first aired on television as a Christmas special). I also loved her stage presence: young, but not silly; mature, but not uppity. Even her numerous outfits have a good balance of flair and simplicity, with the midriff-baring ones being [thankfully] more youthful than sleazy.

Everyone knows how well Christina can carry a tune, so there's no need to say much beyond how impressive are her clarity of voice and flourish-filled improvising. In my opinion, the most amazing display of her vocal prowess comes through in "At Last," a bluesy number she dedicated to Etta James. Impressive. Two of the songs are sung in Spanish, and Christina does a rather admirable job of phrasing the lyrics in what is actually not her native tongue. Just another facet of this talented young woman. By the way, she also dances pretty well. The duets with Lil Bow Wow, Dr. John, and Brian McKnight are a tiny bit of a distraction, but still entertaining.

The concert video direction is very good, with the cameras staying trained on the performers and alternating between close-ups and wider angle views. There are also four bonus videos, three of which are Spanish versions of mainstream hits.

Overall, you're bound to enjoy this DVD immensely.

Summary: A Must Have for the Christina fan
Review: I ordered this video two summers ago and I still love it today. Christina has definitely changed things up since then. I must say that back then, there was no denying the girl could blow, but I would find myself wishing that there was more depth to her songs, more personality. If you've listened to her latest album, Stripped, and then to this video, you will definitely notice a change in her demeanor, her style of music, appearance and her clothing!! But the thing that rings true throughout is that she sounds great and puts her all into every performance. And that's what makes this video worth it.
My favorites include I Turn To You, her version of At Last by Etta James (this one, in my humble opinion, is much better than the way she performed it at Men Strike Back), Climb Every Mountain (chills up and down my spine), Contigo En La Distancia (absolutely gorgeous Spanish ballad), and her duet with Brian McKnight- Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.

Bottom line. If you love Christina's voice, like singing along with her, if you like her pre-Stripped days better than the present, or just want to get something relatively inexpensive and totally worth it in the mail- this video is for you.

Summary: Reflection
Review: I rented this DVD a while back with my good friend, and we watched it (being the Christina fans we are). After every performance Christina gave we couldn't help but sing along to the songs we loved and knew so well. We couldn't help but stand up and dance with a smile. Christina Aguilera's "Bubblegum pop" stage with Genie in a Bottle (one of my favorite songs) and "Come on Over" (another favorite) and Christina is now a woman and showing that in her "Stripped" songs. (A great CD that you all must buy!)We look back in time of Christina's stages and hear her beautiful voice.

Overall: A must for any Christina Aguilera fan.

Summary: Christina is what this girl wants
Review: I'll be honest here, if you don't like Christina Aguilera, if you think she's shallow, brainless, without substance and/or too skinny, you'll probably hate this concert video. You can say all sorts of negative things about her, but you can never deny that she's A PHENOMENAL SINGER!!! That is the true reason why I love her so much, but I'll admit that she wears her tiny, barely-there outfits remarkably well. One shouldn't be envious, but simply be able to appreciate the really nice-looking body she has. She's cute. Who could deny that?

If you taped this concert when it originally aired on ABC, you'll notice it was missing some VERY IMPORTANT tracks, such as her renditions of "All Right Now," and "At Last." You ought to buy the video for those two songs alone. Wow! If you're not already convinced of Christina's unparalleled talent, just watch those two performances. She makes a great rocker, and she is perfect for Etta James' "At Last." Her performance of that classic is nothing short of breathtaking.

"Contigo en la Distancia" is a great Spanish track that was not aired on ABC that everyone should check out. The video also contains many other incredible performances such as "What a Girl Wants," "Genie in a Bottle," "Climb Every Mountain," (from The Sound of Music--Christina is a huge fan of Julie Andrews!) "Christmas Time," "Falsas Esperanzas," "Reflection," and "Come On Over Baby."

In my opinion, the video has some additions that were ill-advised. It includes footage from the MTV Diary of Christina Aguilera, and the MTV Making the Video for "Come On Over Baby." Come on! All the fans have seen those things eighty times already! I also can't understand the disturbing transformation of "So Emotional," and why Lil' Bow Wow is allowed to slaughter an otherwise great tune. Another complaint I have about the video is the revealing outfit Christina wears during her performance of "Christmas Time." I have no issues with her raunchy outfit at other moments, but she was showing her navel while singing a Christmas song for God's sake! That's just tacky. If she wishes to take the religious holiday seriously as something holy and sacred, I think it's best for her not to look like she's trying to attract a guy. My last criticism is of her lack of personality during the segments where she spoke to the audience. She had a very blank, mechanical look as she appeared to be reading off of cue cards. When she sings, she's very entertaining and seems to really relate to her audience. But when she's speaking, she looks phony, appears to be rather uncomfortable, and winds up looking like a robot as she announces her next song. I think she needs to work on that, to be frank. I saw her in concert here in Louisiana in 2000, and she had this problem even during the songs. She came off as being downright bored, actually. I see a hint of that in this concert video.

Okay, so she's not perfect, but she's young. Hopefully, she'll be around for years to come and she'll have plenty of time to work out all the kinks. What really matters is that amazing talent she has. When I hear her sing "At Last," none of the little things I can find to gripe about really matter at all.

Review: If you are already a christina fan, I know you will buy this DVD. But if you are not, just give her a chance. Watch this DVD, especially the songs "at last" and "climb every mountain", and you will surely change your opinion. This is a TV special, aired on christmas, in which christina sings singles from her debut album, as well as some songs in spanish, from her album "mi reflejo". The show is great, and christina has the opportunity to get in contact with her fans, introducing and explaining each song she sings.

I may say I'm impressed with her powerful vocals and her dance routines. She is surely a young diva, and it's great to see audience reacting to her greatest hits, such as "genie in the bottle", "Come on over" and "I turn to you". In this DVD you will also see backstage scene and short interviews with christina. There's also a making of for the video "come on over".

On the extra area of this DVD, you will also find 3 spanish videos plus the christmas song, featured in her first homevideo/DVD. This DVD really deserves 5 stars!

Summary: The Voice Of An Angel !!
Review: In Christina Aguilera's first full length televised concert special MY REFLECTION which aired on ABC in December of 2000, the young singer proves why she is the star that she is today. With a voice that rivals any of the greatest female pop singers of the past century (i.e., Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey etc.. ), Christina far outshines any competing young divas like Britney Spears, Brandy, Shakira, Ashanti or Jessica Simpson. In this concert Christina performs her #1 hits like Genie In A Bottle, What A Girl Wants and Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You) with superior vocals and a splashy array of intense choreography. Also she does other hits off her multi-platinum debut CD, "Reflection", "So Emotional" and "I Turn To You". But its the other songs featured on the concert that truly display Christina's immense talent and impressive vocal range. Her version of Julie Andrews' "Sound Of Music" classic, Climb Ev'ry Mountain is the centerpiece of the entire concert in my opinion. Sang with full bravado and a passionate delivery, Christina's soaring performance of the tune literally brings tears to my eyes every time I see it. Also included is her cover of the Etta James blues classic "At Last" which she once again brings home with the same intensity and class as the incomparable Miss James. Several of the tracks off of Christina's smash debut Latin CD are included, the ballad "Contigo En La Distancia" and the beat heavy, dance track "Falsas Esperanzas". Along with a cover of rock classic "All Right Now" and several selections from her Christmas CD including "Merry Christmas Baby" (with Dr. John), "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" featuring Brian McKnight and "Christmas Time" with Lil' Bow Wow . Christina delivers to her fans a gift that will stand the test of time as a testament to her amazing talent. Buy this DVD as soon as possible you won't regret it for a moment, Christina's voice will give you chills and leave you in amazement.
