Summary: A MUST-OWN, SUPERB, EXCELLENT!
Review: A great concert DVD, i went to see the concert and this brings me vivid memories of a once in a lifetime experience. Madonna is spectacular, amazing, a true icon of the music business. An artist and a mother. This is a definite collectible item, a truly Madonna must-have. The concert is really out of the extraordinary, 6 costume changes, 4 set changes, every song is a masterpiece. A combination of a concert with a Broadway show. I totally recommend. A+ *****

Summary: Madonna at her finest
Review: This DVD has a lot to offer the true Madonna fan as well as someone who wants to witness an amazing spectacle. As always, Madonna used the then top of the line staging equipment and techniques which made this a very sleak production. The set list was really invaluable and just goes without saying. A cool note to the big Madonna fans is that during La Isla Bonita, you can see Rosie O'Donnell in the front row taking pictures during the concert, which were used for the cover of the DVD. She is credited with photography on the back of the box.

Summary: Excellent concert as well as the production!
Review: Madonna's last tour three years before the 2004 one was another solid show all throughout. Most of the songs performed come from her last two albums, Ray of Light and Music, but they all come off as entertaining. I liked that she included Human Nature. Nothing Really Matters, Drowned World, Music, Holiday, Ray of Light, and a lot of others are superb. I like how she does Gone with one spotlight in front of her. She is still tops with her dancers and choreography. The costume changes are fabulous. One song that's funny is The Funny Song, as she shifts to a country mode. As always, she's still wild, but she does what she wants and she's good at it. Excellent concert that she did for her hometown Detroit area crowd in Auburn Hills, Michigan!

Summary: Excellent musical stage show
Review: Madonna put on a terrific show during 2001's Drowned World tour, and this DVD captures the best parts of the show for everyone to enjoy over and over. This was the first music DVD I bought after I got my first DVD player early in 2002, so I've watched this video lots of times. I particularly like Madonna's performance in the opening song Drowned World/Substitute For Love. Also really good is this version of Beautiful Stranger (her 1999 hit from the Austin Powers movie), the costume she wears in Frozen with ultra-long black drapes stretched out to either side, the leaping martial arts simulated combat in Sky Fits Heaven (this is brilliantly done), her great vocal performance on the song Gone (from the Music album), and her hugely-enjoyable old favourites from the 80's La Isla Bonita (done with acoustic guitars), and of course Holiday (performed here with cool rap intro and terrific backbeats courtesy of the Stardust hit Music Sounds Better) . And on the finale, Music really does sound better, as her 2000 title track rocks out as a delirious home crowd parties on (this show was filmed in her home city of Detroit). Madonna even plays some acoustic guitar and shows off her cowgirl persona from the Don't Tell Me video on a couple of tracks mid-show.

This concert is great entertainment value, and is full of colour, movement and strong songs. If you only buy one Madonna video, then this is the one to own.

5 stars.

Summary: There is only 1 Madonna and she rocks!
Review: People really have to stop comparing Madonna to Britney Spears or anyone. She is the true Pop Queen and only one! No one will ever compare to her. I was so lucky to have gone to the show in NY!! It was my first Madonna concert and I've been a fan for almost 20 years ! She is amazing, and she sings live and sounds better then ever. She will always surprise you with something new and exciting and will never repeat a performance in the same way. Britney only wishes she can be like that but she is so unoriginal and untalented that it will never happen. Madonna RockS!!!! Buy this DVD cause you'll never be bored watching a Madonna show!

Summary: Beautifully art-directed, thrilling and spectacular
Review: I was lucky enough to be at the very concert in Detroit where this DVD was filmed, and although watching this DVD doesn't really compare to actually being there, it does serve as a wonderful memento of this beautifully art-directed, creative, provocative and thrilling show. Madonna was criticized for not putting more of her older hits in this show, but any Madonna fan knows that Madonna is not the type to rest on her laurels. And because I think her "Music" and "Ray of Light" albums were two of her best, I had absolutely no problem with the show containing mostly songs from those records. Madonna is also often criticized for her singing, but as far as I can tell she sang every single song live (with the exception of "Sky Fits Heaven", and only because she was flying through the air at the time) and her voice sounded better than ever.

Some highlights of the show: "Candy Perfume Girl" (featuring Madonna playing electric guitar and a punk contortionist), "Sky Fits Heaven" (featuring Madonna flying through the air and kicking ass "Crouching Tiger" style), a spanish version of "What it Feels Like For a Girl" (featuring Madonna tango dancing with a female dancer) and a gorgeous acoustic version of "La Isla Bonita" featuring a variety of live percussion.

No other pop superstar blends theater, fine art, fashion, cutting-edge dance music and just plain fun the way Madonna does. Rock on, Madge.

Summary: Like No Other
Review: To see a Madonna concert is not like going to any other concert. True, other divas like Britney and Janet puts up big spectacles and dance numbers, but no other pop female performer is as inventive and as artistic when it comes to putting on a show.

And a 'show' Drowned World sure is. Some have complained that there is a lack of hits throughout the show, but that is what makes this tour unique. I am sure Madonna has plenty of chances to do her old hits in the future (just see the current re-INVENTION tour) but that is clearly not the point she is trying to make in this tour. Even though some of the songs are not hits, they are great songs and each one is made into a piece of performance art when paired up with the visuals and choreography of a Madonna show.

And if you really hate the songs, you must still give credit to Madonna for her fearlessness. Not only does she fly in the sky and perform intricate kung-fu like dance moves, she also dresses up as a cow girl, play guitars, ride a mechanical bull, and managed to sing and dance while doing all these. And for the people who really miss her big 80s hits. She throws in rousing performances of Holiday and La Isla Bonita towards the end of the show to lighten up the mood. All in all, there is no one else that can put on a show like Madonna's

Summary: Madonna at her finest
Review: I must say, this performance is a very well done and artistic one. However, one may not enjoy it...it has very few hits. The tour is basically filled with album fillers, no pun intended.

Madonna's singing voice is extremely weak in this DVD, and is almost never on key. Although I am a major Madonna fan, I am not blind and believe that in this particular performance (Detroit), her voice is practically unlistenable, unlike many of her other tours, where her voice is stronger (less professionally sung, but stronger).

Her voice in her new re-INVENTION tour, however, is far stronger and much more on key, which leads me to suspect that perhaps the voice problems on this DVD are reflective of Madonna's exhaustion near the end of her tour.

I must say, Madonna did NOT disappoint. Her dancing is superb, and one can understand that Madonna's voice is slightly overtrained, but her voice was just awful. However, despite all that, the show makes up for it in other areas, making it completely worth your money.

And if you can, catch her re-INVENTION tour. From most of the clips I've heard, her voice is amazingly strong and fresh.
