Summary: Why not in DTS 5.1
Review: I still don't understand why Madonna did not release this in DTS 5.1 sound. And from it's not in widescreen either and wasn't shown wide in HBO's high def channel. The whole point of getting DVDs is to get the best sound and pic. What a waste. But better that nothing. We still haven't seen Blonde Ambition tour released in DVD. It's only on laser disc.

Summary: Get with the Times Madonna, HBO
Review:

I swear I will throw the next DVD out the window that enters my home without widescreen and DTS capabilities! Why, oh why would anyone press a new CONCERT DVD without DTS sound? Why, oh why would anyone put out a full screen version of such a wonderful visual show as Madonna's? But then when I watched it on HBO's HDTV channel 509 I couldn't understand why it was broadcast in full screen then. Do any of the suits running these entertainment companies UNDERSTAND technology?

As far as the show goes, I too saw it in Vegas AND on HBO. The music is great, her voice is at its best. However, the non-stop dance we've come to expect from Madonna pretty much stops mid-show as Material Mom has to pause to rest her 40+ year old bod for much of the second half.

Nevertheless, the show was great and having a weakly produced DVD to remember it by is better than nuthin'.

Summary: The Next Best Thing
Review: Seeing Madonna live is an experience unto itself. Nothing compares to witnessing the star perform live. I was lucky enough to catch three of Madonna's shows on her most recent tour. Each show was well worth the price...and with tickets in the $350 range that's quite a statement. I missed the performance aired on HBO so I was excited to see a recording after attending the concert live. While it was nice to see the show again it didn't come close to matching the excitement of the real thing. They felt like two very different experiences. When I heard the DVD was going to be released I wasn't all that thrilled. What a surprise then to see what a different experience the DVD was from the HBO show. While both featured a show from Madonna's hometown of Michigan, the DVD was a completely different take. It is beautifully shot and directed. It's difficult to explain why, but the DVD is a completely different and much more satisfying experience than the HBO broadcast. There aren't many extras included (lyrics can be turned on like subtitles and a rather flat gallery of images) but this DVD is by far the best capture of a Madonna concert to date.

Summary: Decent, but not great
Review: (T)his is in DTS. (...) Good visuals and music. M's voice is a little weak throughout. I guess the quality of digital recording is catching up with the limitations of the artist.

Summary: Amazing
Review: What can I say that you already don't know. This woman is amazong and my jaw dropped when I saw this concert. I was one of the lucky ones to see Madonna on her FIRST concert of this tour in Barcelona. Breath-taking!

Summary: Incredible Concert!
Review: I saw this concert on HBO and I was really impressed. Madonna shows her amazing creativity on every song in the show. Impressive Instant was really cool with all the smoke and gas masks. I also loved the performance of Don't Tell me. Her dance moves are fantastic! I loved Human Nature when she rode on the bull. Other highlights included Beautiful Stranger, Secret, and Music.

This video is the next best thing to being there. The picture and audio quality is excellent. I would certainly recommend this show to everyone.

Summary: It was so so
Review: I actually went to see her in NYC. Production wise, I applaude her, but musically - call me old school - I wished she played more of her older stuff. Her music in the last 10 years hasn't excited me like it did when I was a kid in the 80's.

Summary: Madonna never ceases to amaze
Review: Madonna may be one of the few stars left from the 80's who continues to tantalize and push the envelope on modern culture. Unlike many others who have become lost within their own design, Madonna continues to inspire and redefine the music and videoworld, only seeming to get better with time.

This concert is no exception. It is a beautiful visual protrayal of music. She has progressed from boytoy to sexual provacateur to a solid artist in the music world without being contrived.

This concert is one of the most visually stimulating and inspiring shows ever attempted by an artist. It is theatre blended with the raw intensity of a live musical venue. No stone of Madonna's imagination is left unturned as she performs songs spanning the last ten years of her career as well as classics like "Holiday" and "La Isla Bonita".

For those expecting a replay of the Blonde Ambition or Girlie Show , they may feel cheated as they see that with the Drowned World Tour, Madonna has learned the fine art of balancing sexuality with romance and maturity. She has redefined the concert going experience as she has successfully redefined so many other aspects in her 20 year career.

A must see show!
