Summary: Defective Disc - There's An Alternative To Sending It Back
Review: If you do not want to go through the trouble connected with returning the defective 2nd disc, try this first. I've got a Pioneer player and the trick works always, so chances are it might work with other brands too.

Check it out: 1. Wait until the background music ends (like 10 secs) 2. Keep 'Play' pressed until the player sort of 'reloads' the dvd (like 10 secs again)and activates the screensaver 3. Press 'Play'and now your player should load track 1 of the concert. 4. To view the bonus materials, just access them via the remote control's 'Search Mode':

Title 1: The Encores
Title 2: 'The Night of the Living Boss'
Title 3: FBI Warning
Title 4: 'Drop The Needle and Play'

The only 'features' (if you can even call them that) you cannot access is the 'Setlist' and 'Other DVDS' - two totally unimportant features, anyway. You can set the Audio Options (Dolby/PCM) directely via the control's 'Audio' button.

I have found this to be a completely satisfying solution for myself which saves me the inconvenience of returning the defective disc, etc. Works for me.

I have not yet had time to watch the entire show but I treated myself to a few of the songs - I can only repeat what so many others have stated: the production quality of the concert is really a shame - it can't compete with the 'Live in NYC' dvd. The sound is much better on the NYC dvd, as is the direction, but I can easily live with that. It's a great show. And for the price? It's a good buy nonetheless.

Summary: Great concert
Review: The concert seems more natural than Live in NYC!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great setlist, disappointing sound quality
Review: I've listened to this DVD all the way through.
Cons:
The sound quality is not the best. It sounds like it was recorded off of concert-hall mikes rather than directly from the soundboard. There were a couple of songs that were mixed oddly. For example, Dancing in the Dark had too much of the drums and keyboards up front and they overshadowed Bruce's vocals. The Dolby 5.1 Surround is good, as is the PCM (?) which sounded better than the Dolby on my setup. I would have liked to have seen a few more far-away shots of the band and fewer tight shots of just Bruce's head. Lastly, there's hardly any extras on the DVD, just the "Drop the needle and pray" fluff piece about the tour. I would have liked to have seen more on the backstage goings-on, the setlist creation, and so forth.

Pros:
Bruce and the band really threw themselves into this show. The audience clearly was into it, too, which makes for a great show. The setlist choices were fantastic, a real variety. Ramrod was the best I've ever seen, and there were a few uncommon setlist choices thrown in. Spirit in the Night (he forgets the words!) and Incident were both solo Bruce at the piano. These were excellent renditions and I'd never heard them solo before. These alone make the disc worth owning.

All in all, Bruce and the band's performance will have you jumping off of your sofa while watching this.

Summary: Bruce is the BEST!
Review: I was never a big Bruce Springstein fan, although I collected a few of his c.d.s because of his importance to music, and I did like some of his songs, he is great. However, if there were a fire in my home, or I needed to make a speedy evacuation two things I would grab are my Bruce Springstein 'Rising' c.d. and Bruce Springstein and the E Street Band in Barcelona! Really I would!

I took my daughter to see Bruce and the Band when they visited our town for the 'Rising'tour.

My favorite pick on the Barcelona D.V.D. is on disc two, Ramrod, the band together having fun, Bruce is a riot!

What a showman! The love these people show one another, Bruce had all of us in the palm of his hand. I pray I get to see them again.

Summary: The Boss is back
Review: Well the DVD I have has great sound quality, the editing is excellent and the band really rock. This is the rock DVD of 2003.

Summary: LOVE IT!
Review: I caught this tour live in 2002, and I saw the Born in the USA tour back in '84. This performance captures the memories of both.

A note to buyers who have technical difficulties with either disc: Call the number on the back of the DVD case and tell Sony. I called to report a problem with the menu on disc 2, which appears to be a common problem in some batches, and my replacement disc arrived less than a week later.

Summary: Could the sound be worse?
Review: The sound on this DVD is a total disappointment. Save your money - or buy his NY Concert.

Summary: Stop Complaining
Review: I have been a Bruce Springsteen fan my entire life and when I learned of the completion of his first concert DVD I was estatic. I couldn't wait to pop it in and watch his concert in Barcelona. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to see him at the meadowlands in August while he was winding down his tour. When I first put on this DVD I cranked up my BOSE speakers and started hopping up and down to the RISING! I mean ladies and gentleman, the sound quality gives every viewer a concert like feel. The adrenaline starts pumping when you see the intense reaction of the foreign crowd. It is absolutely mind-blowing. Rather than complaining about the sound quality of the DVD go out and purchase yourself a pair of good speakers, and you will understand how incredible of an experience it actually is to watch Bruce Springsteen perform!

Summary: OK, if you know the lyrics already.
Review: This concert was a love fest between audience and performer(s), but I was disappointed in the DVD. Only after I printed out the lyrics (from the internet) was I able to understand what he was saying, even though I'd heard about half the songs before. Screaming and mumbling, often seemingly intoxicated, he gets by on charisma rather than getting a message across. It will be a long time, if ever, before I play this DVD again.

Summary: He's still the Boss
Review: Well, what can you say? I bought this DVD expecting it to be similar to the NYC one. That it isn't. If you're a Springsteen fan, you will already have this. If you are not, go and buy it!!!
This concert is just excellent, even the flaws. (yes, even the boss makes mistakes - check out Bruce forgetting the words to Spirit in the night).
This is just excellent. Pity the star system doesn't allow for 10 star rating because that's what it deserves.
The man is still the BOSS!
