Summary: Paying the cost to still be the boss
Review: The sound is great the video is fantastic. Yeah Bruce is getting up their in age but man he still puts on a great show. He also sits at the piano for a few old tunes which he rarely does. I too wish someday Bruce would release some of the old 70's footage but for now track down the bootlegs or enjoy this great show.

Summary: JUst something missing....
Review: An ok set-list - not bad video - but boy, the sound on this thing is horrendous - you can't hear bruce's vocals for anything. and the performance is not a great one - stick with LIVE IN MADISON SQUARE GARDEN unless you HAVE to have a RISING TOUR dvd - but the sound is as worse as when they aired this on CBS and you couldn't hear him - terrible, terrible, mix - and i suspect from what i did hear - that his voice was not great that nite either.

Summary: Bruce is great but not on this DVD
Review: I have been reading the other reviews and there are some really accurate ones out there, yes Bruce looks like hes tired, he looks old, hey, if you jumped around the stage for 30 years straight, put on 4 hour concert for 25 years you would look old too. Give the guy a break, I was dissapointed in the sound on this one, Bruce should do indoor shows, he sounds so much better. I went to the Hartford show on this tour and it was in a football stadium, I couldnt believe how far away he sounded. I thought he was in another county, thought the setlist was much better for this tour, I was glad to hear more material off Born in the USA this time around, Dancing in the Dark was nice to hear, I could see Bruce was just so thrilled about doing that song again live(NOT) just for the fans. "Born in the USA" the album version was great to hear, he did a great job with this tune. The rest of the songs are standards from the last tour. Hope hes in better shape for the "Vote For Change Tour" I think "Born in the USA" should be dedicated to John Kerry....sorry for the political view. (yikes)
Anyways, decent show from Spain but not his best.

Summary: Didn't Quite Deliver For Me
Review: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have achieved so much in their careers. I am a great fan of their work. At their age this is a magnificent feat....BUT...let's face it - the guys are finding it harder to deliver the wildly energetic performances of previous years. I found the energy just not there in many tracks especially Born To Run. Bruce does look tired throughout much of the concert and looks as if he is just going through the motions. He still has that great charisma and connection with the crowd but this does not compare with previous efforts. As a fan I would much rather see Bruce a la the live tracks from the Video Anthology DVD. I also found the audio quite poor on this DVD compared to other releases by Bruce. Having said that I found "Badlands" and "My City of Ruins" brilliant. I also found the bonus documentary disappointing. Their must be a better title for this doco - "Pocket Documentary", "Teaser Documentary"?? Come on guys, if you are going to promote bonus features on a DVD let's make them worthwhile!

Summary: This is what it's like to be at a Bruce stadium show
Review: . . . or as close as you can get on dvd. If you want to show somebody who's never been to one what a Bruce stadium show is like -- what it's actually like to be there -- you cannot ask for better than this. I was at two of the Giants Stadium shows in the summer of 2003, and apart from the occasional references to Barcelona and some passing Spanish, it would be hard to tell this show from one in New Jersey. Except, perhaps, that the overall quality of the performance does not flag for one moment from start to finish. Play "Badlands", the big sing-along number, for the initiate, which is followed immediately by "She's The One" with the ferocious backbeat. Then play BTR, with the awesome reverse pan over the crowd. The Boss will have a new fan for sure.

As for the sound: who are the critics kidding? The sound at stadium shows is univerally atrocious. The sound here is pretty good by comparison, imo. No mushy booming bass. Voices that can actually be heard and, for the most part, understood. The only Bruce show I ever saw with decent sound was at the Meadowlands in 1980, when he opened the arena (literally), during the River tour. You can get a sense of it on the Live! 3-disc album, especially the River and Independence Day. At Giants stadium, by contrast, if you sat far enough back, there was an appreciable delay between the time you saw a motion on stage or the big screen and the time you heard it (that old bugaboo physics, light moves faster than sound); and if you didn't already know the words, you'd have been lost. The sound on this dvd is far superior to any outdoor Bruce stadium show I've ever seen.

This Barcelona show was so good, it's making me almost like most of the Rising songs. I wish it had Sandy or Jungleland or Rosie like the Giants Stadium show I saw last July, but it's pretty good anyhow.
