Summary: Very True to the Experience
Review: I was lucky enough to see this tour, and so had understandably high expectations for this. I am not disappointed.

Strengths:
A) This DVD has shockingly good video and audio. Really, it is quite shocking that it could be filmed and recorded this well.
B) The song selection is consistent with the tour (i.e., great)
C) They managed to get the camera placements beautifully integrated with the heart stage. This greatly enlarges the feeling (the illusion) of being "right there".
D) The spoken intro to "Kite", knowing as do now that Bono knew
that his Father was dying, is incredibly moving.
E) "Stuck In A Moment" conveys the near-sacred quality on video that it possessed live (anyone who saw this tour will probably know what I mean...it could nearly bring you to tears)

Weaknesses:
F) Bono's voice is strained (by his own admission...and check out
how often he asks golden circle personnel for water). On most
songs, however, he is able to rally and deliver what is needed.
G) The song "New York" is inexplicably filmed in B&W. Although
this works nicely for the "swagger up the runway" sequence which
opens the show, it is a minus here.
H) On the whole, the "extras" do not impress. The "Set Up and Tear Down" fast-motion sequence is effective at showing how mammoth the roadies' job was, and the interview with the video producer is intriguing. But the rest of it is a bit of an empty tease, and I am left thinking that there should have been more.
The Toronto "play on the roof just like the Beatles did in Let It Be" is great, just to see the spontaneous buildup of surprised onlookers. Somehow more of this sort of thing might have been nice. The inclusion of short snippets from the Zooropa and Pop
tours is puzzling.

Summary: In attendance at shows in Boston
Review: Folks, I gotta tell ya.. Ive seen U2 a dozen times in my life but this series of shows (including the 6th) were unreal. My opinion is that this may be the best "entrance" they've made for any tour, and what they did on the 6th (should it make the DVD) was classic U2. Hopefully you and I will relive that night and its events, barring any "cuts". Either way however, a great series of shows.. A must buy for even casual U2 fans.

Summary: This mega-super-ultra kicks [...]
Review: Boy oh boy does this dual DVD set fix the little issue of there not being enough U2 video footage, especially on DVD. Superb video and audio quality, wonderful extra features. I saw them both in Albany, NY and Los Angeles, CA, and I'm sorta wishing I saw them in Boston too, after watching this :)

Summary: U2's Brilliance
Review: I've seen U2 live a handfull of times- Joshua Tree, Zoo TV, PopMart, and Elevation. The Elevation concerts were absolutely fantastic. No DVD can ever truly replicate the experience and sheer catharsis of seeing U2 perform on stage. This DVD captures and conveys a bit of that brilliance- the power and emotion that U2 shares with fans both young and old. Additionally, U2 continues to amaze me with their use and acceptance of today's technology. This DVD is an absolute must for any music fan...and <all> U2 fans!

Summary: Anamorphic Widesrceen?
Review: Great performance !

Unfortunately, the DVD is not in 16x9 format which is odd because it was shot in widescreen 1.85:1. Very dissappointing.
Moreover, the supplement material(with the excepetion of additional tracks) is in widescreen (1.85:1) but it's not anamorphic. U2 are great performers. This tour really captured the essence of the band displaying their passion, talent and ability to to deliever. This band just keeps getting better and better. Hopefully the same can be said for their DVD productions. Will see next time.

Summary: A review from a music fan, not a U2 fan...
Review: I watched this DVD last night (...)
First off, I am not a huge U2 fan. I have all the discs, and I know all the songs, but I've never listened to U2 for as much consecutive time as I did by viewing the DVD. I've never seen a live show, but I think these things give me a good non-biased opinion of the disc...
I thought the DVD had many great attributes. The playlist is solid, and the sound and picture are perfect. They do a good job of capturing the feel and excitement of a live show. There are many times I felt like I was at the concert instead of watching it on television. There are also several intense moments, like when The Edge and Bono duke it out in a both physical and musical battle of guitar vs. vocals, and when Bono brings the young girl up and cuddles on the stage with her while he sings an entire song. I also liked how they seemed to portray the musical aspect of the band instead of producing a huge rediculous rock spectacle like they have in past tours...
The one thing that keeps me from giving this show 5 stars is Bono. There's not enough of the rest of the band, and way too much of Bono, and a lot of the time he is just doing his typical, rediculous, "Look at me, I'm a rock star" antics. Many times, it takes away from the music. I think there has to be a balance between the "intense" moments I talked about above, and the incessant annoying freaking out...
So overall, I think this DVD is worth buying for any music fan, and if you're a huge U2 fan, you'll probably love every second of it...

Summary: Great - but not complete
Review: After seeing 9 U2 shows on the Elevation tour (including the shows filmed for this DVD) I can tell you that if you are a U2 fan you don't want to miss this one. The one complaint I have is that this is NOT the complete show - not even close. They performed "One", "Mysterious Ways", and "People Get Ready" on 6/6/1. It is a shame that they couldn't include footage from "One" or "New York" since 9/11 as they have become the emotional highlight of the show since then... All in all - a great DVD set...

Summary: Great package, ok concert
Review: I went to show #1 at FleetCenter (this is show #2) and as they even mention in the DVD, they admit the first 2 shows in Boston weren't their finest hour--check out the 'making of' on the DVD and see Edge kick his guitar off stage because things didn't go so well.

The actual set list on the 6th had more songs than the DVD. For whatever reason, "Mysterious Ways," "Pride," and "One" were done at the concert but left off the DVD. Of course, if you're a U2 fan, you've heard it all before, but it's not really an entire concert.

The 2nd DVD is great, the making of snippets are very interesting, and all in all it's a very entertaining package. U2 weren't at their best at this part of the tour, but it's still a must-own DVD for any casual U2 fan.

Summary: A great performance and DVD
Review: I just finished watching the DVD and it totally rocks. Most of the reviews I've read so far are simply complaining about the setlist. Forget about that - the performance is solid and the video is high quality. This isn't meant to be a greatest hits package. Pop in the disc, ignore the setlist on the box and watch it from the intro to the final song - you won't be disappointed.

You get two CD's with some cool bonus material (something like 6 hrs of material total), even the menu screens are cool. It's all wrapped up in a nice box with a booklet - not your typical plastic DVD box. Now that's what I call treating your fans right. The single concert disc alone would be worth the money. Unlike many movie DVD's, I know I'll be watching this again and again. A keepsake from a great tour and a great band.

Enjoy the show, leave the setlist worries behind...........
