Summary: Don't have to be a fan of Springsteen to enjoy this
Review: A director on another concert DVD I own said that it was impossible to fully capture the essence and nuance of a show on film. Here is the exception-you will feel as though you are in the Garden with Bruce and the band. It is impossible to not get caught up in the performances, all of which are outstanding and full of incredible energy. While I am not a huge fan, I was lucky enough to catch two shows with some friends when they came through NYC and witness firsthand how great his shows are. This DVD serves as a great souvenir from those two nights.

The sound is fantastic and comes through clear as a bell. Not the most impressive Dolby 5.1 I have heard, but this will not disappoint any home theater owners. The video itself is also top notch-they did a great job capturing the performance. My favorite moment was when he was doing Out In the Street. Great crowd reaction shot (can't tell you what happened-that would be cheating!). My only minor quibble is with the Costas interview, but that has more to do with how much I don't like him as an interviewer. Not terribly enlightenening.

This DVD is a must have for fans or anybody who enjoys great rock and roll. You will not be disappointed.

Have it on DVD... powerful stuff.
Any music fan will appreciate what Bruce has done and his contributions to music throughout all these years.

Summary: DVD Music Videos Will Be Measured by This Recording
Review: The exuberance Bruce and his band show for their craft (what they are doing and why), the joy of living, the blood under the fingernails as we go through life are all brought to this emotion we all call music and through technology, to this DVD. Combine this emotion with video that is dead-on perfect and a 6.1 HTS and you have what will be the benchmark for all future Concert Vids for a very long time. I own several, and none measures up to the emotional intensity that Springsteen is able to transmit to the audience (live or the viewer of this DVD). This particular DVD is a remarkable achievement.

If this were solely visual art, Springsteen's concert would be Picasso. Together as video and audio, it is sheer joy to too many sensory perceptors. This DVD is meant to be played over and over again and will in time become a classic, if it already isn't.

Summary: A tour to remember....
Review: I attended the Houston concert, and was impressed by how well the band sounded (I was suspicious they might have been going through the motions for another large payday). This DVD captures the concert sound very well, it sounds better than the CD version. Some songs seem to jump out "Lost in the Flood" (hardly in most people's top 10) is outstanding. The Darkness songs such as "Badlands and "Darkness on the edge of town" are impressive; dark and majestic.
Just think, this may be the last tour the E Street band ever do together. This DVD will help us remember.

THIS VIDEO CONCERT HAS MOST OF THE GREAT SONGS. THE BAND HAS NEVER PLAYED BETTER. AN ESSENTIAL FOR YOUR DVD COLLECTION. IT WILL FILL THE TIME IN NICELY BETWEEN CONCERT TOURS TO YOUR TOWN.

Summary: five crowns, of course, this is the boss, the BOSS
Review: DISCLAIMER: although the title makes it sound a little like i am one of those braindead bravo-crying fans who applaud even when their greatest idol takes a dump, I am not. This dvd just earns to be called the Boss, because it is a superior work of technology concerning sound, performance, editing, mixing, and bona-fide filming.

The songs contained on this disc are all great - a lot of hits, but, unfortunately not many classics (except maybe jungleland). of course i bought this dvd, because i wanted to have a visual recording of the msg concerts and of these songs, because i like them. the problem just is that there are too many songs missing ...still. in that aspect, the cd too was a disappointment, the dvd - let me tell you - is much much better. but still, i'd like to hear the full version of back in your arms and not just a sampler during the 10 min featurette. where are the new songs? and i defintely don't mean american skin or land of hope and dreams.

these studios releasing the boss stuff don't want to give us much. why can't the release a film version of an entire concert and not just songs from two different ones where they leave out some of the essentials. this hurts me, ...because i have not attended one of springsteen's concerts of the world tour. for real fans this might just be a tiny piece of beef you throw in front of the nose of a hungry dog.

believe me, what you get on this dvd is great...

Summary: Energetic! Powerful Stage of Boss!
Review: This is his first TV concert from NYC Medison Square Garden.
His performance makes me crazy. But I disappointed cannot hear 'St. of Philadelphia'.
Picture quality is very good. This is Anamorphic Widescreen Format. 5.1 sound is nice. But Bonus menu is only just shot interview.

Summary: The Michael Jordan of Live Rock
Review: This DVD performance proves why Bruce Springsteen, even at 50+ years old, is still the Michael Jordan of live rock performance. There is no face make-up or pyrotechnics in this show. There is no guitar smashing or stage diving. There is no elaborate or outrageous clothing (okay, guitarist Steve Van Zandt is an exception). What you will see on this DVD is an incredible live document of pure, stripped down to the essence, guitar (and drum) driven, authentic, truly-felt rock and roll music performance.

Even non-Bruce fans or casual fans should scoop this document up for posterity and watch it at least annually for a purely amazing show. Pay special attention to the wonderful new song Land of Hope and Dreams, that in my opinion, should have been saved for a new studio album, its that good. Its an instant classic. Other incredible performances include Prove it All Night, Mansion on the Hill, Ramrod, Light of Day, Jungleland, and Youngstown (with special solo treat from the great journeyman guitarist Nils Lofgren.

Also, the 15 minute so-called "featurette" is terrific! Mind blowing snippet within it of the hard-driving rock song Adam Raised a Cain from 1978's classic Darkness on the Edge of Town. One cannot watch Bruce choking his Fender Telecaster throughout this DVD and not be convinced he is absolutely possessed by the Gods and Spirit of Rock and Roll.

Finally, but very important. The sound on the DVD is amazing. You can hear every instrument. Obviously, I highly recommend it.

Summary: A Pre-Born in the USA- Bruce fanatic's dream come true!
Review: I can't say enough about this DVD! I had previously owned the CD and watched the HBO telecast. I wondered why they had declined to show such treasures as Bruce singing Jungleland and Ramrod, live. Imagine the thrill of being able to watch a non-bootleg performance of Thunder Road, If I should Fall Behind, and his newest classic, Land of Hope and Dreams.

I've read some reviews complaining that he dragged out the classics too long. I have to respectfully disagree! This version of Tenth Avenue Freeze Out was the greatest! Watching Bruce pay homage to both Rock and Roll and the individual accomplishments of the beloved E Street Band, was a highlight of the show. Who would want to miss the look on "Little Steven" Van Zandt's face when Bruce included in his intro, "Star of the Sopranos television show", and wife Patti Scalfia's look of should I kiss him or hit him as Bruce falls to his knees in front of her and calls her "the first lady of love on guitar and vocals."

I've read reviews saying this production was too slick. I didn't see that. Instead, I reveled in hearing Bruce and the E Street Band play the songs that touch your heart and soul; Promised Land and the reworked Mansion on the Hill, just two examples that immediately spring to mind. The latter changed the theme of wanting what you can never hope to achieve, into a song where the protagonist shares his dreams for "moving up" in the world with his one true love, wife Patti. Her vocals carry the once, in my opinion, nondescript song, into a entirely new stratosphere.

This is simply Bruce at his best. His strong social consciousness is ever present, for example, Forty One Shots, a controversial song that has already been debated ad naseaum. But the majority of the show is full of the Joie de Vrie that is unique to the E Street Band and the Jersey Shore, think, Out in the Street, Prove it all Night, and Don't Look Back!

Bottom line, must have for any Bruce fan, and for the casual observer, has the potential to make a lifelong fan out of them!
