Summary: The wait is finally over!!
Review: Peter Gabriel is the type of performer that takes his time and does things right. This DVD is no exception. The sound is second to none, especially if you have a good surround sound system and listen to the dvd in dolby digital 5.1. This is more than just a live concert, it is a piece of art more along the lines of a broadway show. There is a cast of characters on stage and each one of them is able to showcase their talent. A perfect example of a supporting player on the dvd who at times steals the performance away from Peter Gabriel is that of Paula Cole. She has tremendous range and is a pleasure to listen to. Anyone who enjoys the music of Peter Gabriel will surely enjoy this dvd.

Review: Fantastic sound quality and great to view it in wide screen, but did anybody think to try and improve the video quality?

Summary: Finally in DVD
Review: Well, I'm a Peter Gabriel Fan since the Genesis era and I own POV and SWL in VHS, so the release of this extraordinary concert in DVD is a great new. Peter has always taken care of the production and details of CDs and Videos so we can expect an outstanding DVD production in audio, video and extra material.

About the concert: The band is brilliant. The rhythm section conformed by Tony Levin and Manu Katche is just astonishing. Tony is the best Bass/stick/upright bass player period !. Manu Katche is precise as always, David Rodes brings his pictorial guitar style that perfectly matches Gabriel music, Jean Claude Naimro is a very talented keyboard player, Paula Cole vocals are superb and Shankar, Levon Minassian, Papa Wemba and Molokai provides additional (and wonderful) colors and flavors to some songs. To write something about Mr Gabriel would be redundant. He's just the best.

I specially like the San Jacinto version (not included in the CD ), the stage concept that was developed by R. Lepage and Gabriel is brilliant. Pay attention to Tony Levin's chapman stick performance in this song and in Secret World.

The only thing I would have added to the DVD edition is the Biko version and possibly the games without frontiers version of the tour (very good) instead of "kiss that frog". That would have make it a 7 stars DVD.

I can't wait to receive the DVD.

Summary: Finally on DVD!
Review: I have this on LaserDisc and watch it frequently. It is an awsome concert film and I have about 40 on DVD and laser disc. Looking forward to this coming out on DVD

Summary: Awful DVD version of best concert video I've seen
Review: I was so excited to see this performance coming to DVD. It is one of only a few titles left in my Laserdisc collection -- titles I have kept on LD (along with the player!) awaiting their release on DVD because they are absolute must-have discs.

Peter Gabriel and Robert LePage collaborated to stage this show, and everything from the elaborate dual-ended stage-in-the-round with lifts and moving sections to the mobile video projection screens to the gorgeous lighting design is first-rate.

The show is a visual tour de force, and yet this serves to augment rather than distract from the wonderful music. As a bassist myself, I always love to see and hear Tony Levin play, and this video is no disappointment in that regard. The same can be said for drummer/percussionist Manu Katche, whose rock-solid time anchors the band while his fills and ornamentation will leave you speechless.

I could go on and on, but the crux is simple: this had potential to be a must-have DVD. Sadly, this DVD is a huge disappointment. I wrote the glowing stuff above based upon the Laserdisc version, which I own, anticipating that the DVD would only improve upon it. Then, I came back to edit this review after actually receiving the DVD. I have another review here specifically about the DVD in the feedback area, so I won't repeat that material here.

Summary: Find the VHS or Laserdisc if you can. The DVD doesn't live up to them.

Summary: At Last!!!
Review: Secret World LIVE is by far one the best concert videos I have ever seen (and I have seen many.) To finally have it on DVD makes me very happy. The performance is incredible. All Peter Gabriel fans should own this, and any casual listeners will become fans after seeing this video. I don't know what kind of special features this DVD will have, but it really doesn't matter. The concert itself is definitely worth the price of the DVD. It is elaborately conceived and staged, from Peter singing "Come Talk To Me" from a phone box to packing the entire band in a suitcase during "Secret World" to the all out party that is "In Your Eyes". Simply put, it is Awesome. I have almost worn out my VHS copy and the CD of the show is my default CD. I own so many CD's that it is hard to decide what I will want to listen to while I'm out of the house so "Secret World" always goes with me, and it never fails to work nicely. I guess now I can go out and get a portable DVD player and keep the DVD with me, just in case.

Summary: SO, What's the Secret?
Review: There is none. This is a fantastic show and every PG fan that has seen this knows it. I went into it leary of hearing someone try and duplicate the Kate Bush part of Don't Give Up. Paula Cole did not duplicate, she made it her own, and you feel it with her, wonderful. PG mixes some his most wonderful tracks with some great theatrics and stage props, and he can never lose with such an unusual and professional band. The camera allows you right in the middle of the action, and then makes you feel like your right in the crowd.
You'll laugh where you should, and cry where you should. I'd be more specific about all of these points, but I really would like you to see this for yourself. If you've seen Peter live, you gotta see this. If you haven't, it's time you did.

Summary: Stunning
Review: I saw this show back in '94, and was blown away. This is PG in at the top of his game, offering a supremely entertaining show for all to hear and see. His voice is bold and full of character. The band is absolutely top notch. The song selection, while focused on Us and So, is very strong and diverse, with a great mix of introverted, contemplative songs and extroverted get-up-and dance songs. I would have preferred some stronger songs over Steam and the superficial Kiss That Frog, but these are still watchable. PG has always communicated so much emotion in his songs, and the live versions accomplish the same through their visual as well as musical presentation, whether it comes as joyous and playful dancing, acting, or dramatic props and staging. In all cases, it works. The audience is engaged throughout. This is one to watch and enjoy again and again.

Review: The best live concert film ever. The sound is unmatched. And the artist is untouchable. Another great job by Peter Gabriel.
