Summary: the last reviewer busted a nut...
Review: and he's a bit off base. i payed 25 bucks for this dvd at a local record shop. it's well worth it to me. i work in broadcast and the mastering wasn't incompotent by any stretch of the imagination. i do agree that the packaging was poorly concieved, but similar techniques were used on the beatle's white album.....and i've rarely heard complaints about that execution.

one thing i can say is that duran duran was and remain pioneers of music video, regardless of the abundance, or lack, of airplay. the earlier videos contain the typical eighties cheese effects....outlandish sets and green screened elements, but it is what it is....a relic of the production limitations of the day. ordinary world and come undone are amazing videos in both production and conceit. they present a more modern interpretation of an aging pop machine, but do so with grace and subtlety. they literally show the song as it was intended to be shown....a polished, top notch interpretation of two of duran duran's best.

sure....i wouldn't pay 30 bucks; if you can get it for less...it's a comfortable and worthwhile purchase.

Summary: Some Good Some bad - same hilarious
Review: I wish there was a 3.5 star rating because that's where this would have fallen. There was some good stuff and some bad stuff on this video.

The navigation is a little strange - but then again, I don't understand a lot of dvd navigations (must be getting old). As for the Easter eggs - I'm not an easter egg fan so I just looked them up online. I did find most of them cumbersome to work.

I know a lot of people complain about the "remastering". I found the quality just fine. As far as I'm concerned the quality is much better than the over used video tapes that I aquired 20 some odd years ago!!

Probably my biggest complaint was the choice of videos. While they had some of what you'd expect "Rio", "Hungry", "The Reflex". They left a lot of great ones out, like "Lonely" and "Nightboat". They also included the "The Chauffeur" for some unknown reason. I found that video to be an embarrassment to the Duran videology. Enough said there. I would have been happy if they had just included videos from the days of the original five. But since they did include some of the newer stuff I would have liked to have seen "Do you Believe in Shame" and "Breath after Breath"

Now for the good stuff - it's a good collection. However, I think the stars go towards these Easter eggs - despite how akward it is to get them they are worth it. I had always thought that I had seen every Duran footage clip there was, but I was wrong. I had actually not seen most if not all of the "hidden" footage in there. I think the best clip is the hidden "Planet Earth" video. The audio is not a true live recording, but the footage is a video clip from a very very early day club performance. It's the 80's at its wacked out best - great for a good laugh. By the way - does anybody know who those babies are playing on stage? I don't think I've ever seen Simon wear pigtails either...

So all in all, unless you already have dvd quality recordings of the videos it's worth the price. I do hope though that they do come out with a true collection of all their videos. I would put my money (within reason) on that.

Summary: WHY DOESN'T THIS HAVE ALL OF THEIR VIDEOS???
Review: Come on, 2 DVDs and they couldn't include all the videos? What's up with that? I'm sorry, but that's a slap in the face to the fans. I won't be forking over my money for this, thank you very much!

Summary: This is CRAP!
Review: I totally agree with Erik John Dolnack's review below.

Just got a copy of the DVD myself and I am very disappointed with the way the whole thing was done.

Lousy packaging, terrible navigation system and amateurish video quality.

DD's masterpieces deserves much better treatment.

Summary: Duran Duran is truly The Greatest
Review: I'm very happy that this DVD finally came to exist! This set brings back many memories, and shows that Duran Duran are one of the best groups ever. I do feel that there were other videos that could have been included, but perhaps they will surface in another DVD set.
This collection is a must for any Duran Duran fan, or anyone out there who still has good taste in music.

Summary: Excelent Videos Can Help Popstars!
Review: Duran Duran have made great videos! There are many funny, s***, interesting, cool and beautiful videos. You can find Duran Duran's early years videos in the first dvd. Welcome to travel from Planet Earth(1981) to View To A Kill(1985)! Especially, I have to mention Girls on Film, Rio, New Moon on Monday, Wild Boys and View To A Kill, which are my favourites on this first dvd. Girls On Film (uncensored version) is probably the only reason why this dvd has rated NR( only for persons, who are over 18 years old). This video is full of almost naked women, erotic sessions and so on. These days you can see similar videos even on middle of the night on MTV. You can find hidden alternate version on this video if you watch this same video twice. There are little bit of differences but I won't tell you those now. Rio is relaxing and funny video that has good to watch on the winter time. New Moon On Monday is a interesting video in which you can see beautiful landscapes, New Year's rakets and a theatre performance
There is a hidden over 17 minutes movie version on this video, which you can find watching this video two-three times. Wild Boys shows strange creatures, fire and dance performances and Duran Duran golden era's luxury. You will find hidden alternate version on this video by using same tactic than New Moon On Monday. In my Opinion, View To A Kill is better video than James Bond movie. This video rocks! On the second dvd has videos from Notorious(1986) to Electric Barbarella(1997) There are three videos that are probably the Duran Duran's worst videos. Notorious, Skin Trade and I Don't Want Your Love have nothing interesting, cool or funny than most of Duran Duran's 1980s videos. These videos are booring and songs are even worse than videos. Luckily, All She Wants Is, Come Undone and Ordinary World save this second dvd. All She Wants Is has made so well that is makes even song sounds better. My friend Reijo has chosen this song even on his torturing collection but he also liked a lot this video and song started to sound good on his ears. Come Undone is a excelent video in which you can see a beatiful woman on the chains in the water pool and many fishes. Come Undone is Duran Duran's best song and terrific wedding makes good for it. If you have a computer, you can heard question and answer sessions by Simo LeBon and Nick Rhodes. This dvd-pack is must for every Duran Duran fan and also them who likes 80s synth-pop music but also those people who love to watch good videos.

Summary: Excellent !!!
Review: Had to say ..... own and LOVE my copy !!! Easter egg hunt advice excellent info, i had no clue.

Let's see ... my take on the DVD cover - sleek, I Like. But the REAL talent comes to life when play any one of the video's from my DVD disc. Duran Duran is the ultimate chemistry of artistic band members. Each time any one of their vids appears or re-appears on screen whether on television, VHS, or DVD, is like seeing an excellent video for the first time again. From one of my early favorites, "is there something i should know," to further down their journey to "come undone," or "ordinary world," all excellent songs, with real-life story-telling lyrics ...... EVERY artistic lyric, motion, and breath of DURAN DURAN, whether you're blind with hearing, deaf with eyesight, or lucky enough to have both, DURAN DURAN is TIMELESS, ICON, TALENT!!!

HOWEVER ..... WHERE, or WHEN, is the footage from the ARENA concert, uninterupted, i believe filmed in Oakland, CA, 14,000 fans, going to be available on DVD? I recorded it onto VHS sometime in 80's from MTV "FM stereo simulcast in many cities," when it aired there live. I'm not talking about the "Blue Silver" documentary i recorded onto VHS from cinemax, that i'd also like on DVD, which by the way has no complete concert video, just snippets of songs from various concerts on the Arena tour (kinda cheesy compared to what MTV aired "FM stereo simulcast in many cities," with uninterupted complete songs in concert from Oakland CA 14,000 fans?). The bands entertaining ENERGY, stage set-ups, dancing, color, EXCELLENT COMMAND OF SONG LYRICS, costumes and wardrobes, cam pans and angles, lighting/laser effects (planet earth/rio/girls on film) ..... AUDIENCE participation ..... THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. You are TRULY one of the lucky few of the masses if you've been to a DURAN DURAN concert in the 80's.

Some of the complete songs aired (in concert program "As The Lights Go Down?"): Is There Something I Should Know, Union Of The Snake, New Religion, Save A Prayer, Rio, Seventh Stranger, The Chauffeur, Planet Earth, Careless Memories, Girls On Film, roller derby style .... end of concert.

Whatever, or whoever it takes, my cash is ready to leap from my wallet for a DVD of that live uninterupted concert of "Arena" DURAN DURAN songs performed live in concert, and aired on MTV in the 80's. So COME ON, Tritec? Duran Duran band members and staff? Who will it take to butt heads and produce this masterpiece on DVD to nicely complement my collection? I'm patient but I can't buy it after i'm dead!!! So get off your bottom and get this EXCELLENT ARTISTIC stuff on DVD NOW!!!! =)
