Rating: Summary: THREE "B's" Barbra/Best/Breathtaking. Review: Well, this DVD offers us all 2 hours of pure entertainment. Barbra's struggle for excellence is present in every segment of the MEGA show. The table cloths matching the tea cups...matching her gowns...the lights, the songs, the story and her performances...She truly deserves all the accolades. Barbra has once for all proved that she is UNIQUE...Listen to her rendition of ALFIE....It is a journey to HEAVEN accompanied by angels...PEOPLE sounds better than ever with the choir...Watching TIMELESS (like her other shows and films) is truly a life-altering experience .It is love at first sight and the certainty that this very LOVE is everlasting.Congratulations BARBRA! You have enhanced my life for over three decades now and I am very thankful. I am looking forward to the day when all her TV specials will be released in DVD format.PEACE to you Barbra and to the World!!!
Rating: Summary: Bravo Barbra Review: What a thrilling concert! It's amazing that she's been singing this well for 40 years. This is a great DVD.
Rating: Summary: Frustrating, could have been so much better Review: What's frustrating about this DVD is how much absolutely more fabulous it could have been. Why Barbra chose to release her millenium concerts where the theme of the dialogue and songs reflects the impending new year is a mystery. Because of it's timing the bits and some of the songs will lose relevance with time. Barbra could have released any of her non-millenium based Timeless concerts, one of which I saw in LA, and viewers would have seen a better song selection and MUCH better vocal performances. The show in LA featured Barbra sounding about ten years younger than she sounds on this DVD and doing songs like "Come Rain Come Shine" "My Man" "Music That Makes Me Dance" and a complete version of As Time Goes By. Barbra also manages to choose the worst vocal cuts from her millenium concerts. The Timeless disc has her sounding in much better voice than she does on this DVD. If she was going to use the millenium concerts why not use the BEST footage from the millenium concerts. Her dont rain on my parade and Being Alive are really weak. Her voice has warmed up by the Act two and she sings beautifully during most of that Act. However again the millenium celebration and countdown are boring to watch over and over again. I guess part of the problem with this DVD is it has to compare to Barbra the Concert, which is an unsurpassable piece of work. But she could have done much better by choosing better performances. It's not like they werent there it just seems she was lazy about choosing cuts, and thats why this DVD is so frustrating.
