Review: One of the best music video I have ever seen. I had seen FM twice before in the 70's, but never up close like this.
I was saddened to learn that Christine had retired after the video. And yes, she did look better in the video than in earlier years.

Summary: This is a live performance, not a "concert"
Review: What's the difference? Well, it was recorded in a studio in front of a small audience, not in a large concert venue. Although, to be precise, any performance by a group of musicians is a concert (concerted, versus solo, effort), the performances here lack a little bit of the excitement or raw energy you expect to see in what we typically think of as a concert. But this is not completely negative, as the performances are exceptionally good, the recording quality is superb, and the (hand-picked, I'm sure) audience was well-behaved, so during beautiful quiet moments, e.g., in "Songbird," you don't get some idiot hooting or shouting "I love you, Christine." By the way, the reviewer below from Houston who mentions "obvious recorded background vocals) is wrong. There are in fact obvious background vocals, but the backing vocals were live--the singers can be seen behind Buckingham in many shots. I suspect that there was also a second guitar player at the rear of the stage somewhere but haven't checked the liner notes yet to confirm--I just got this DVD for Christmas two days ago!

Summary: This is a phenomenal live concert!
Review: This is the best live concert I've ever had the privelege to watch on DVD. Though there are noticeable recorded background vocals, Stevie and Christie sound in top form. I couldn't help thinking that they sounded so good that they must have rehearsed endlessly for this concert (I'm wondering if these songs are all from the same show because there aren't really any noticeable mistakes). Lindsey Buckingham does a solo perfomance for Go Insane and Big Love that is so emotionally charged that I was blown away. He is truly one of the best guitarists in the world. Landslide is another top song from the disc, and this performance will leave you with wet eyes (I was feeling like I invaded Stevie and Lindsey's privacy during this song). Every song is top quality and flawlessly perfomed. Lindsey's vocals are a little rough throughout, but it doesn't take away from any part of the show. The only song I didn't care much for was My Little Demon. They could have left this one off the disc. It just isn't up to the standards of every single other song here. If you are a Fleetwood Mac fan, and love both Christie's songs and Stevie's songs, then you have to buy this concert video. Besides their voices being WAY better than I thought possible for a live perfomance, they are both stunning to look at (Christie looks better than she did 20 years ago, no kidding). I borrowed the DVD from a friend, and decided after one viewing that I would have to purchase it. The cd from this tour isn't as good as the DVD you're about to purchase, because it is missing 5 very important songs. You won't regret it. I wish they would tour again because I would pay any amount of money to see a concert of this quality again.

Summary: The Mac is Back!
Review: I havn't been a Fleetwood Mac fan for very long, being that I am just a teenager, but my parents have been fans forever and they got me into Fleetwood Mac. The Dance rocks, Lindsey, Christine, and Stevie sound amazing. I love Stevies voice on Rhiannon and Silver Springs. Lindsey steals the show with his guitar preformances, and John McVie actually sings back up on Say that you love me!! This is a must have for Fleetwood Mac fans!!

Review: I've been more of a Steppenwolf rock fan for decades, but
I bought both the video and CD of this classic reunion concert
by Fleetwood Mac.
As other reviewers have noted, it is a very tight concert, well-edited, and each of the band members,and the audience really enjoy it.
The addition of the USC marching band for the big finish was a stroke of genius. I'd like to hear more of that kind of collaboration. Wish I'd been there in person to see the USC band march in and blow the roof off the place. It also seemed to give the aging Fleetwood Mac cast a final burst of energy to go out with a big bang!
During a recent cold and windy night in my home in Barrow, Alaska, I pulled out the video and played it from start to finish, delaying my bed time by over an hour.
"You just wanted to see Stevie Nicks," my wife said with a laugh.
I told her I was thoroughly enjoying the whole package. She is not a big rock fan, but she sat down and enjoyed the last couple of songs with me.Each of the Mac-Five put all they had into this concert. We hear a lot about the interaction between Stevie and Lindsey on stage, but hey, how about the spontaneous surge between Mick Fleetwood on drums and Lindsey Buckingham on guitar and vocals!
My only concern was for the backup musicians and vocalists. We'd see very brief glimpses of them in the edited video, but we can hear them working hard and adding a lot to the rich fabric of the music. I think it would have been nice to include a segment or two where the Fleetwood Mac folks finish a song with a turn-around and a tribute to the backup crew.
But overall, this is a super, super concert. Get it, enjoy it, and watch it over and over!

Review: Fleetwood Mac is a legendary band, the creator of the single best selling album of the 1970s and three of that decade's most influential recordings. But the band was always as famous for its interpersonal explosions as for the music it produced, and throughout the 1980s repeated conflicts effectively destroyed the band's creative balance. By 1997 the golden line up of Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, John McVie and Stevie Nicks had not toured or recorded together in a decade, so there were naysayers aplenty when a reunion was announced. But shortly before the reunion concert, a reporter asked Stevie Nicks why she--a great star and headliner in her own right--would bother with it, once more reduce herself to the level of just one in a group. Nicks's response was surprising: when I perform solo, it's just me. When I perform with Fleetwood Mac, THAT is big time rock and roll. And when Fleetwood Mac reunited and strode out onto the stage for this concert film, Nick's words were phrophetic. It was, and it is, big time rock and roll. All the members of the band are older now, and it shows--but that is not necessarily a bad thing, for although they have lost some of the brilliant spark that fueled their early recordings and concerts they have gained a tremendous amount of control. And it shows in the music. From the concert's opening with "The Chain" all the way to the traditional close with Christine McVie's solo on "Songbird," everything is slick and flawless. And the highlights are many. Perhaps the most memorable moments of the concert come from Nicks with her performances of "Landslide" and "Sliver Springs"--the latter's inclusion a personal victory, for she had long battled with Buckingham in an effort to place it on a Fleetwood Mac album and release it as a single. But although Nicks' star quality tends to dominate the proceedings, both Buckingham and Christine McVie equal her every inch of the way. Buckingham offers incredible guitar solos, particularly on "So Afraid," "Go Insane," and "Big Love;" watching his hands pluck the guitar is simply poetry in motion. And Christine McVie, famous for the cool detachment of her full-throated vocals, offers stunning performances of her best Fleetwood Mac numbers, including "Over My Head," "Say That You Love Me," and "You Make Loving Fun." John McVie, as usual, fades quitely into the background to perform his miracles on bass guitar, but Mick Fleetwood is flashy and showy and devilishly fun on the drums--and together they create the backbone that gives the soloists support. Buckingham, Chistine McVie, and Nicks all introduce new material with the concert, some of it more successful than others. Regretably, Nicks' "Sweet Girl," although extremely well done, is not greatly memorable--but Christine McVie scores with "Temporary One" and Buckingham's "Bleed to Love Her" really should have been released as single. Some viewers may complain that the band's current control puts a damper on their energy level. The ever cool and calm Christine McVie performs so effortless and with such self-confidence that she never seems to break a sweat, and although her opening numbers are extremely well performed Nicks doesn't completely unleash her talents until the second half of the program. Time has also taken a toll on Nick's voice: her upper notes are gone, a few of her songs have been re-worked in order to accomodate her increasingly limited range, and discreetly placed back up singers (Sharon Celani and Mindy Stein) are worked in to spare her extremely delicate instrument as much of the back-up work as possible; a handful of other expert musicians also support Buckingham, Fleetwood, and John McVie. And on a technical note, the audio mix could have been better than it is. No, this is not Fleetwood Mac at its creative apex--but it is hard to argue to with such a class act, particularly when this is the closest most of the world will ever get to seeing the band in the flesh. Very welcome, and highly recommended.

Review: A most excellent dvd. You should enjoy this dvd even if you are not a Fleetwood Mac fan. Great vocals from all which gives a variety of different talents. Lindsey Buckingham's " I'm So Afraid ," I believe shows how much his guitar playing may be very underrated.I rate it 5 stars.

Summary: Feel the Magic between Stevie and Lindsey...
Review: Even after all these years, there is still a spark between them. You can see it and even feel it when they sing with each other. When Stevie sings Silver Springs, which she wrote about their breakup, you can almost touch the electricity. The songs are fresh, many with a new twist, including John McVie on vocals for one song. Lindsey Buckingham is incredible on guitar, Christine McVie really lights up the piano, Stevie Nicks keeps the rhythm with her tamborine and Mick Fleetwood is at his best on percussion. Mick even clowns around a bit, just to keep the mood upbeat. This is one of their best. There is no down side, no slow sections. It moves from beginning to end and is a must have for any Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks or Lindsey Buckingham fan. Be prepared to watch this concert over and over again.
