Summary: a concert dvd you'll watch again and again and ...
Review: this amazing concert gave me goose bumps several times. the dts option is awesome and made me feel like I was watching the live concert itself..really crisp and clean sound! one thing that'll make me watch this over and over again is Billy Preston's brilliant performance and interpretation of Isn't it a Pity. Never have I heard and felt a tingle in my spine watching somebody play the organ until Mr. Preston. The Indian musicians are exceptional as well. The mixture of Eastern and Western music made this concert unique and truly proved that MUSIC IS THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE. This DVD is truly a treasure as are George's music...

Summary: I was disappointed
Review: I had been seeing the ads on TV for this DVD and it looked like it would be a really fun and exciting concert to watch. I was quite disappointed when I began watching the DVD and the first half of it was Indian music. The second half was better, and actually had some great moments. However, overall the great moments were too few.

I also purchased the Bee Gees - Just One Night concert which I would highly recommend. It is an excellent show. Also, I purchased Simon & Garfunkle - Concert in Central Park and found that to be very enjoyable.

Summary: I hope this DVD changes how future concert DVDs are done
Review: After 130+ reviews there is not much new to add about how wonderful this set is. I do want to stress how expertly well this was filmed, audio recorded, edited and mixed. A big first for a Beatles related concert film/DVD. Anybody releasing a concert DVD from this point on should be required to view this and learn.

For one thing, if you feel so compelled to make a documentary movie about a concert or tour, include the complete concert on a second disc. As nice as the documentary film part of this set is, if that had been all we got, a lot of the best moments and performances would have been missing. On the flip side, seeing the documentary too added great insights to watching the show uninterupted. Seeing the whole show in the correct running order builds a better climax.

Second, you can watch this without noticing (or being distracted and annoyed by) the camera editing. This doesn't use 2-3 second edits where you can't focus an anything. You actually get time to soak in the emotion coming from the performers. It makes the show much more real, and enjoyable. The only thing I miss, it would have been nice at the end to show a photo with each musician credit so you know who is who in a band that big. I've heard all those names for years, but still don't know who I'm seeing on stage.

This is a first-class product, for a first-class guy that still only scratches the surface of all his first-class music. Buy it, treasure it, keep spreading the word that this is how great a concert DVD can be if the right people are in charge.

Summary: In a nutshell
Review: I am not going to try and pick out the shortcomings of this film, (which aren't many.) rather, i would like to focus on the possitive.
If you love the Beatles and George's solo tunes, this IS a must have.
Clapton and crew serve up a passionate, heart-warming tribute to a true friend.
Crisp, clean sound accompanied by sharp filmwork make this a total pleasure for the senses. turn it up loud and sing along.

Summary: Tastefully Done
Review: A lot of value packed into this 2 dvd set, with the complete concert and the theatrical version edited with interviews, etc. The performances are excellent and done tastefully. It is apparent that all these musicians came together to honor Harrison, rather than to bring recognition to themselves. A must for Harrison fans.

Summary: Amazing
Review: This is perhaps the finest concert film I own. I've watched (or listened to) it at least a half-dozen times in the last week I've owned it.

Summary: Absolutely Amazing - Any Beatle Fan Will Not Be Disappointed
Review: I watched this about 10 times within the first month. As far as a concert performance goes, I have not seen anything more compelling or moving to watch. One of the most eerie (if you will) components of this concert is the picture of George in his early Beatle days as the stage backdrop and Harrison's son Dhani playing in the concert. Dhani is a dead ringer to his father's picture in the stage backdrop. It's like watching George playing in the concert. Joe Brown's closing is classic. This is a no brainer, just buy it.

Summary: One of the Great Concert Films
Review: "Concert for George" (2003) deserves an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. It's a beautiful work that should be seen by anyone who appreciates popular music. The spiritual artistry of the late George Harrison leaps from the screen in this moving tribute concert at the Royal Albert Hall -- captured for posterity by director David Leland and cinematographer Chris Menges. The highlights are plentiful: heartfelt performances by Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Billy Preston and the underrated Sam Brown; the Monty Python reunion; Anoushka Shankar's stunning orchestration of "Arpan"; and Joe Brown's touching farewell, "I'll See You in My Dreams." In all, a truly memorable evening -- and a transcendent celebration of Harrison's life and music.

Summary: Fitting Tribute for someone lost before his time
Review: I've got to conclude this is one of the best concert DVD's I have seen. It is technically and qualitatively impressive: both in sight and sound, and definitely moving. I have admired Eric Clapton's musicianship since Cream (1966)days: after this, I have come to RESPECT him as well. The extraordinary talent that was amassed for that evening hardly would ever be assembled again. I agree with other reviewers: give Macca some slack over purported ego issues. There is no point of being revisionist about George's evolution in the midst of having to work with two extremely talented giants which were the nucleus of the Beatles. George was ready, but had to have the group implode before making his talent obvious to us. I was impressed with the sonic quality of George's songs, delivered by others: Eric, Paul, et. al. even when you compare with Anthology 3, All Things Must Pass.. I mean George's voice (not his talent as a composer) began to falter in the early-mid 70's as a result of what eventually would have created his downfall: cigarette smoking. Beware of sadness: George, rest in peace and thanks for the memories. As for this DVD, don't miss out and do buy it ASAP.

Summary: Concert for George should be #1 DVD!
Review: I received Concert for George DVD/CD set as a Christmas gift and have watched it or listened every day since; it's great even to watch/listen to while exercising, cleaning ... anytime I need a lift/energy, I pop in Concert for George. Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne (sounds so much like Roy Orbison), Billy Preston, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty were all absolutely awesome (yes, Paul McCartney too) and watching George's son Dhani was eerie/almost like seeing George from the past along with the rest in the present; he seemed so much like his Dad. Other performers whom I was not familiar with (Joe Brown, Jools Holland, Sam Brown) were absolutely wonderful. My only disappointment was that Sam Brown's version of Horse to Water was not included on the CD (what's up with that?)! Sam was the absolute best (sounds like a Brit Aretha Franklin)/so not right that she was omitted from the CD version! I've since ordered Sam Brown's Stop CD and another Jools Holland CD (I had never heard of these guys before but believe me, if you like jazz and R&B, you'll absolutely love them). Joe Brown was great/interesting that the Beatles used to support/intro his band before Beatlemania hit the world. I would rate this DVD @ #1, not 65!!
