Summary: A Slice Of Lennon Life!
Review: The Beatles, the bed-in's,the recording sessions and life with
Yoko Ono all as seen through the eye's of John Lennon. No distracting quips from guest Beatles-his sons Sean and Julian
and wifes Cynthia and Yoko provide some potent insights into a
legendary artist. What's most impressing is rare personal footage
of Lennon having his way with a silly reporter during the
bed-in and MORE then holding his own with a angry ex-Beatle fan
reporter who accuses him of being a sellout. You also get to see,
very sudtly, how young MALE Beatle fans early on were just as frusterated by their inability to get close to their favorite
foursome as their heart-throbbing female counterparts! It's often
fun and sometimes compelling to see how John casually snubbed his
nose at authority, told people he found offensive wittily where
to get off and how charitable he seemed to be among his friends,
even how lost and crazy a person he was without Yoko at his side.
So you get EVERY side-the good, the erratic, the witty and the angry side of Lennon in this well rounded documentary. This is
a must for fans everywhere!

Summary: Excellent
Review: This film is one of the best video-biographies of famous people I have seen. Narrated by John Lennon and others this video is very revealing, interesting, highly entertaining and provides a great tribute to the man, the music and his legacy. Highly recommended to anyone.

Summary: Devine! *****
Review: This film shows the many sides of John Lennon, from the creative genius to the every-day man. Lennon's personal account's are as inspiring as his music. Bits of his humor are peppered throughout, and the artistic journey from Beatlemania until his assasination are represented very well. This is a definite collector's item for the Lennon-devotee.

Summary: Spare us the love scene!
Review: This is an excellent account of Lennon's career both with The Beatles and solo. Keep in mind that this is largely Yoko's version of events as she commissioned the film. Her heavy hand is evident and much relevant material has been omitted including the truth about the breakup of The Beatles. One thing we didn't need to see is the home movie of Lennon and Yoko having sex. Bleaughh! It almost ruins the whole thing. If you buy this video make another copy omitting this scene and watch that one instead. One star has been deducted for that unfortunate indescretion.

Summary: Across the Universe
Review: This is one of the most articulate documentaries ever produced. There are some who suggest the archives are slanted simply because Yoko Ono was a primary source of those archives, yet it stands to reason that the woman who shared his bed, raised his child, recorded music with him, and in many respects fought the world with John would be in a better position than most to portray Lennon accurately - and as he would have wished. The Imagine video rings with authenticity, affection, rebellion, resolution, bitterness, and biting humor - qualities Lennon was famous (and controversial) for. I have always been impressed with the movie for a personal reason... I marvel that the famous and controversial woman, the wife of a pop-icon and trend-setter, somehow had the strength to persevere against great social resistance in order to collaborate with her husband's former wife, and son by a previous marriage. In an age of "equal time" for multi-marriage families, Yoko's generosity was extraordinary. Cynthia Lennon, too, is to be commended for her candidness and perception. The movie is ultimately fair. Bitterness is mitigated by humility, and forgiveness is engendered by the ability to "let go." John & Yoko made mistakes, together and separately, but both, I think, would plead for tolerance, as they expressed for others. Yoko's final comment in the movie is the she and John had fought in a war together, for peace, and for acceptance, for themselves and for others. This is the driving influence behind "Imagine"... not exploitation, but about a re-release of private revelations regarding a public entity who sacrificed his own privacy to be a voice for the people. Lennon spent the latter half of his lifetime fighting his own fears, and the rabid paranoia of the cultures around him. He won. We still remember, and we imagine.

Summary: VERY GOOD movie!
Review: This movie was an excellent documentary of John Lennon. I loved the music and John narrating. I wish it had more footage and less of people talking that i don't know. May Pang should have talked more though. I seriously loved all the footage of john rehearsing, acting goofy, (I laughed so hard when he made this face when he spun in a chair! He has the best facial expressions!!)being sincere and the kind man he is (like taking in this very weird homeless man). i honestly loved this documentary. I laughed (when John made jokes and stuff! he's so funny!), got angry (when people started getting upset abou John's jesus comment! and when this lady gets mad at john for returning his MBE and this comic guy at the bed'in's makibg fun of john and Yoko nude.) and cried (when they talked about John dying and stuff. I seriously cried, (like Yoko). it was so sad i don't think i could watch about his death a lot. but it was good to see the people who cared after he died!!
The "Sex" scene. One person talked about this scene though all it is, is John and Yoko taking their clothes off (you can't see ANYTHING! they cover up so jeez people!) and kissing each other. i kinda think its romantic. i mean its not hard-core so whats the deal?? their just kissing!! Also, they could have added a lot worse because that footage of them was for "Every man has a woman who loves him" video and they showed them entirly naked, and probably more then kissing!!
improvements on video: More John talking, more footage, more John in later life as opposed to lots on the beatles (no offense but there are millions of stuff on the beatles (i love the beatles, don't get me wrong!!) and i just kinda wanted more "just johnny"...Also there is over 800 HOURS of John Lennon on footage (alone WITHOUT THE BEATLES- like what you saw in the documentary, just him and stuff) i mean this more was like 2 hours (thats WITH people talking, etc) i mean what about the other 798 hours??!! i seriously think (even though obviously i'm sure Yoko, wouldn't approve since she did do the John Lennon Anthology by the way!!) they should publish John lennon's diaries (instead of people writing "based on it") and more footage of John. He is just so wonderful! I want to see more of him!

Summary: I love John Lennon
Review: Upon John Lennon's death in 1980, thousands and thousands of mourners gathered in new york city and wept together. As I watched grown men break down and young girls bawl their eyes out, I could only do the same. The loss of John from this world is too great a loss to bear and the only thing I can do when thinking of it is weep. All we can do now is cherish his legacy, his message of peace and love and his beautiful beautiful music and pass them on to others.

I am a huge, huge, huge Beatles fan. I own every Beatles record and I have a wall in my room dedicated to them. But John...John went past the Beatles. He was a philosopher, a poet, and a brilliant man. He invented the concept of Bagism, one that I completely understand and live by. He was also one of the most if not the most active peace activists and anti-war human beings this world has ever seen. Few have been more passionately against world wide conflict and worked harder for it to cease. And he did play a part in ending one of the most unnecessary wars this country has ever seen.

This documentary successfully captures the essence of John and gives those who did not know him a small glimpse into who he was. I strongly recommend watching this to any Beatles fan or fan of John Lennon. It is a wonderful, poignant film that will provoke tears from you.

LENNON LIVES ON.

Diva.

Summary: this is NOT the documentary
Review: Yes, it's confusing. There are TWO John Lennon videos called "Imagine." If you're looking at the 1972 copywrite, this is a collection of videos from the Imagine album (there are a couple of Yoko videos as well, from Feeling the Space). This is notable, not so much for the videos, which are fairly self-indulgent, but for the outstanding sound. I believe this has every song that was on the Imagine album, and the sound here blows the CD away. So, if you love the Imagine album and want really superior sound, this is a "sound" investment.
