Summary: Excellent Marine Corps movie
Review: I love the movie Full Metal Jacket, espically the boot camp part in the beggining, for those who havent seen it, the DI(Gunnery Sgt. Hartman) was a real DI in the Marine Corps. Although some of the war scenes didnt match up to boot camp it was still a great movie all around.

Summary: Vietnam nightmare
Review: Full metal jacket is a two part masterpiece by director stanley kubrick. It shows the dehumanizing effects war has by portraying a group of wanna-be grunts go through brutilizing boot camp, to the realities of hell in vietnam. The film features great cinematography and gets away from the jungle seen in most vietnam flics by taking the recruits throught the city of hue during the tet offensive. The film follows pacifist Private Joker(mathew modine) who dispite his cries for combat, struggles with the realities of killing. This leads to a gripping and distubing ending. THe other characters represent the brainwashed or soon to be killers the marines are trying to breed. Intriguing characters and storyline make this a cinematic hit.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: It has a ton of humor with the drill seargants. For instance:

"There will be no racism in my corp. I don't care if you are a spik, ni**er,...,you are all EQUALLY worthless here."

I laughed my a** off

Summary: Lee's review
Review: I thought this movie was excelent and I recommend it to the more mature audience. It's the hard core thruth of war, and to some a bit to gruesom. It was very well done. I would compare this movie to Platoon.

Review: I think Full Metal Jacket was very funny and had good action sequences. I liked the training part which was hilarious. I liked the way the general the general cursed and made jokes. It was a great movie.

Summary: One of the best war movies ever, easily
Review: Full Metal Jacket is my favorite war movie. It is grittily realistic, has great acting and direction, and is quite well-done overall. Everyone in it is great - R. Lee Emrey is legendary as the drill sergeant at boot camp.

The film is divided into two parts. The first takes place in boot camp where marines are trained to fight in Vietnam. The second half is actually in Vietnam. While some parts of the second half are underwhelming compared to the first half, it really is just as good. It has many themes in it, and is very realistic. Full Metal Jacket is awesome.

Summary: This is as close to boot camp as you can get, without going
Review: I absolutely love this movie. The first half of the movie is all about boot camp. Boot camp in the movie is very, very close to the way boot camp is today, though i never did go through the crucible so i can't compare it to that. And the scenes from Hue City are compelling and prove that every marine is a rifleman, just look at the way Joker takes over Cowboy's squad. Coming from an infantry unit, 5th marines to be specific, this movie is outstanding.

Summary: Thousand Yard Stare... at pan and scan.
Review: Excellent Vietnam period piece, one of Kubrick's best... though I am sure he is now rolling in his grave because of the grating Dolby Digital 2.0 (why bother?) and Pan and Scan encoding for the film.

Pray and wait for the 5.1 / letterbox release.'

Give this DVD to your friend who got a DVD player for the holidays and only has a ProLogic receiver.

Otherwise, the DVD doubles as a nice coaster or fetch toy for a dog.

Summary: Reality Check
Review: Forget "Eyes Wide Shut" - "Full Metal Jacket" is the movie I want to remember Stanley Kubrick by. It's been several years since I've watched this film - but I'll never forget it. The boot camp scenes are the best and the actor who portrays the drill sargeant is great - your worst nightmare. Kubrick lets those of us who've never been in the military - much less fighting in a war - have a small taste of what it must be like. This film is not as epic as "Apocalypse Now" or as poetic as "Platoon" - both great movies. "FMJ" just seems like the real thing.

Summary: Best Vietnam War Picture Ever!
Review: I am an ex-marine. I got a chill down my spine when I first watched this movie, and I still do. The Vietnam segments were ok in comparison to the bootcamp scenes. The bootcamp scenes are so realistic and genuine, awesome images and sounds! Whenever I want to remember my days in the corps, this is the movie I watch! The academy for the phony tough, and the crazy brave! Amen! Semper Fidelis
