Summary: One of the best war movies of all time.
Review: One of the best movies of this decade. Outstanding performances by Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman; and a magnificent score by James Horner. The story of the 54th regiment is wonderfully unfurled with gripping action and heartfelt drama. If you leave this movie without shedding a tear, then check yourself for a pulse. The DVD version is in wonderful widescreen and also contains the theatrical trailer (which is one of the best trailers that I have ever seen). This movie should not be missed and will greatly enhance any movie collection.

Summary: Good movie for a brief look of regement 54
Review: I liked the movie. It was good and heart warming. I am a "rebel" type of guy and after I watced the movie I almost wanted the union to win the war. But the movie did not focus to much on the facts. All and all it would be a movie I would buy.

Summary: Power in the Film
Review: I was watching this movie and I realized something. Most people think that soldiers of the Civil War were stupid in the way that they fought. I beg to differ, these were what real men were, there is no way to stand out there and not realize that you are going to get shot. They were courageous, gutsy, and fearless.

Summary: One of the best Civil War films...
Review: Stunning epic of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, the first African-American troops of the Civil War. Moving, eloquent, with impassioned performances, sweeping score (this has got to be one of Horner's best), and battle scenes that will shake you to the core. And hey, everybody cries at the end of this film.

Summary: Best War movie I have seen
Review: Opening battle scene showing charge at the battle of Antietam (still the bloodiest day in American history) set the tone of this movie from the start. There is a sense of hoplessness for the soldiers throughout the movie. Excellent war movie.

Summary: Excellent Stuff
Review: Tracing the history of black soldiers in the American Civil War, Glory is a historical treat and a most entertaining watch. Empassioned performances from Matthew Broderick and Morgan Freeman are bolstered by a strong and battle scenes with the kind of realism that has you ducking behind the sofa for cover from the bullets. Definately one of the best Civil War movies of all time. END

Summary: A must see for any War Buff
Review: The soundtrack is gripping (If a fan of "titanic" soundtrack, you will get the cd as well) Mathew Broadrick protrays a young Army Officer who doubts his abilities to lead. He is thrust into command as a Regimental Commander of Negro troops. Anyone who has commanded troops, or dream of glory in battle, this is a must see END

Summary: Glory: A great movie that will make you proud to be American
Review: This is one of my favorite movies, which looks even better on DVD. An outstanding cast, including Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman.

The battle at the end was very moving. I wanted to grab a gun, jump into the movie and help them out! END

Summary: A Great American Movie!
Review: This is one of the most historically acurate films about the Civil War. Not only that, it's one of the best acted and best shot movie in many years. Denzel Washington's performance is worth the Oscar he recieved. Matthew Broderick and Morgan Freeman are also exceptional. It's an unforgetable film about an event that changed the course of history.

Summary: "Give 'em Hell fifty-fourth!"
Review: This is the kind of film that is very rare: an historically important creation where everything works. The writing is excellent, the acting is superb, the cinematography is outstanding, the scope is epic with a phenomenal score that courses through the movie lending it amazing depth of emotion. This film is flawless and filled to the brim with interesting characters and historical significance. There are many fine acting performances here, the lead actors shining on several occasions. Matthew Broderick has the performance in his career that finally shed that "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" stigma and established him as an A-list actor capable of carrying a dramatic role as well as sustaining comedy. Denzel Washington is mesmerizing to watch, owning each and every scene he is in and completely earning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Cary Elwes, fresh from his enthusiastic performance in the 1987 classic "The Princess Bride," also shows some dramatic chops as surprising as Matthew Broderick brings to the table. Then there is Morgan Freeman, who is the pride and center of the 54th Regiment of Massachusetts, and his performance sparkles accordingly. There are so many great performances in this film that I could write for pages describing them all. Of course, there are the incredible battle scenes, as well. They are brilliantly staged, from long-range battle tactics to hand-to-hand combat with muskets fixed with bayonettes. The intensity is realistic and exciting and oftentimes chilling. At the time I saw this film in the theater back in 1989 I considered it the best Civil War film ever made. In my mind, it has yet to be surpassed. "Glory" is exceptional filmmaking on every level and should find a home in every DVD collection. Highly recommended.
