Summary: He's still "our" man!
Review: This film portrays what it was meant to, the "Green Berets" or as we really like to be called;Special Forces. Although I was not in Vietnam I can attest to the realism of the films content in portraying the life of a Green Beret. The language capabilities, the training of indigenous forces, the composition of the team and etc. Although it may lack the special effects quality of todays movies that make it believable, it's purpose of portraying the unit has yet to be outdone! John Wayne will always be honored in the Special Operations community. This film is real, Rambo is not. Yes, it has its flaws, but speaking from an "A-Team perspective" it's an overall success. By the way, everyone seems to emphasize the "sunset scene", but nobody mentions the fact of the Duke jumping out of the airplane with a static line rig that is not hooked up.

Summary: The "Duke" at his best!
Review: This is a good film about a very brave and elite group of American soldiers, the Green Berets. This film has it all, including a great battle scene at the end when the North Vietnamese attack the Green Berets firebase. John Wayne, as always, is great. A lot of people don't like this film because it portrays America and American soldiers in a positive light--but don't let them discourage you from enjoying this All American film

Summary: This movie is a GREAT "guilty pleasure"!
Review: Oh man, what a flick! A gung-ho Duke, a morose David Janssen who grumbles his lines, a hyper George Takei on leave from "Star Trek"... Toss in a wandering plotline and Vietnamese jungles that look like Georgia scrub pine... (oops! That *is* Georgia scrub pine!) and you have one helluva fun flick! Good for an evening of laughs, at least until they put "Megaforce" back on home vid!

Summary: A John Wayne classic
Review: Leave it to John Wayne to stick his neck out over the line about an unpopular war, mainly just to let the soldiers, sailors and airmen know that at least somebody did care.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Outstanding 'Duker' Film
Review: As a military man I can say that they operations conducted from patrolling to military parachuting in this film were completely and totally inaccurate. However, the film is an awesome salute to the unjustifiably scathed veterans of Viet Nam starring none other than 'The Duke'. When the film came out its sole purpose was propoganda....but we get liberal forms of that on the news every night at six. A must see. Illustrates well in part the role of the American guerrilla in Viet Nam.

Summary: I STILL love The Green Berets
Review: Having never been to Vietnam nor in a war I cannot attest to the authenticity of the contents of this film. However, for me and those like me The Green Berets was a "don't take your eyes off the screen for too long" flick. The acting was good and the story has humor, drama, a passion for fellow human beings and a sadness that can bring all viewers to tears. I always wonder why the opening scene, where John Wayne delivers a speech to the theater audience, is not included in the video.

Summary: NOT TOO BAD. BAD ENOUGH THOUGH.
Review: You found it! Yes. This is "that movie" that shows the sun setting in the East! There is a Disney-like quality to this film that makes it watchable. The John Wayne - David Janson chemistry is surprisingly agreeable. It's too bad Wayne's pet project will be remembered as propaganda. Nothing more. Nothing less. Just propaganda.

Summary: This movie shows how the ave. American should be.
Review: I personally enjoy John Wayne, and I think this movie is awesome! It shows bravery, suspence, and humor. Perfect 10!

Summary: Could Be Better
Review: I felt that this movie was boring and corney! I ended up turning it off half way through.

Summary: John Wayne's personal salute to the troops
Review: "The Green Berets" is certainly not the best war film ever made, or the best John Wayne film ever made, but no one can doubt the personal courage it took to make this film at the heigth of the Vietnam war when anti-war sentiment was running high. The film has a lot of wrinkles, in plot, dialoug and special effects, but its got a big heart and displays a deep appreciation for American's soldiers, a genuine concern for the people of South Vietnam, and an unflappable love for freedom. Call it corny, right-wing, old fashioned, cliche or any other liberal bromide you can conjure up, the simple fact remains that people will be watching and enjoying this film for a long time because... (a) it stars John Wayne and (b) its a reminder that not everyone in the U.S. was a flag-burning war protester during Vietnam; a false image that today's liberal baby-boomers have been screeching for far too long.
