Summary: It Portrays a real image of Vietnam and what I thought of it
Review: I felt that this film was one of the greatest films of all time and I feel that Its music that went along with the film was also one of the best soundtracks ever put on a film, ecspecially when the end of the movie was beggining to come around and the song that was written by "The Doors" called "The End" was played, I thought that that was one of the key moments throughout the whole movie. Also when Sheen went into the temple to terminate Brando it was as if Brando had given him a chance to kill him fo I feel that he wanted to die like a soldier instead of being stabbed in the Back. Brando somewhat made an effort to get out of the way when Sheen came to Kill him and then he let him Kill him like it was somesort of a sacrificial ritual of somesort. Maybe it was that Brando was already dying of something or he felt that he was immortal and he could not be killed, But when Brando was talking to Sheen in the temple and said "Drop the Bomb And Kill Them All", I did not understand if he ment all of the Vietnamese or all of the people in the village, or even everyone in the World. One of my favorite quotes from the movie was when Brando told Sheen that "He may kill him but he has no right to judge him by calling him a murderer, he simply solved a problem." I thought that the first time I saw this film that Lance was going to stay there with the villagers and Martin Sheen was going to stay as the leader of the village. I thopught that Sheen was going to stay as the leader of the village because when he was going to kill Brando he said" They where going to make me a major for this and Im not even in there Fucking Army anymore", And then he went and killed Brando and all of the villagers bowed to Sheen, thats why I thought that Sheen was going to stay as thier leader. I really enjoyed the ending of the film because it kind of leaves you hanging and lets you create your own ending for the film instead of putting any kind of ending.

Summary: A psycological thriller set in an insane environment
Review: I have watched this film many times. I especially enjoy seeing it with someone who is seeing it for the first time. "Apocolypse Now" truly describes this films attitude. To call this a war movie is to completely miss the point. Martin Sheen has made his character so believable that the viewer accepts that war can alter a persons character to one who is totally unacceptable in a peaceful society. This story allows us to believe that such a person can also be somewhat cured by means of extreme therapy. There was obviously no way back for Marlon Brando's character, but his was not the focus of the film. I do have a major complaint about the video versions, of which I have two. The village set in the movie version was destroyed during the ending credits. I see this as a closure to the story more than a neat effect for the credits. Without the destruction of the village, we do not have the sense of total annilation of Kurtz's ideals. We may believe that the natives will simply follow the next leader that passes through, rather than understand that there is no longer a place to pass through. Since apocalypse means "the end", we should see "the end" of the village, villagers and movie.

Review: There is nothing like The Doors song "The End" to set the mode for one of the most captivating and certanly the best directed movie on the face of the planet!!!! It features a great cast, wonderful story line and a heck of a mood. Let Coppala take you into a world not like any thing you have ever experinced before. This will always be one of my favorite movies of all time!!!! It doesnt matter what type of movie fan you are, it will delight you in a wonderful way!!!!!

Summary: This movie brings out "the horror..." of Vietnam.
Review: Nothing like The End by the legendary Doors could be so prophetic in the case of this movie. If Coppola did not make this movie, some people would never know what could happen to a man, psychologically, while this kind of fighting was going on around him. Marlon Brando gives a shocking performance of the insane Colnel Kurtz, who uses native Cambodian villagers to do what he says, and to die for him

Summary: Vietnam was the 60's at war, this film captures the moment
Review: Apocalypse Now is a visually stunning time capsule that captures the moment, space, and culture of the Vietnam war like no other film. I saw this movie in the theater 20 years ago, and it still leaves an impression on me today. It's as if I left something behind in the jungle, following Captain Willard on his quest for Kurtz. Each of the characters are bigger than life size, yet all too real. Martin Sheen is perfect as Willard, with Hopper's cameo appearance as host to Kurtz's camp offering just the right touch. This film will never grow old. My only disappointment, why isn't this on film available on DVD. It's a must see. Coppola's best work. Enjoy..

Summary: overrated in my opinion
Review: I couldn't really get into the movie. But then again, I saw it when I was young. Everyone says the movie is adapted from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, but that is only partially true. In college George Lucas(yes, the George Lucas) and John Milius wrote the story, but when Coppola wanted to proceed with it Lucas was busy with Star Wars. Coppola, who owned the rights to the movie through Zoethrope, rewrote the story with Milius and went ahead and directed it anyway despite Lucas. Lucas had wanted to direct the movie which he felt was at least half his and it put a strain in his and Coppola's friendship. Lucas felt that Coppola had wrecked his and Milius' original story. I would have liked to see what Lucas would have done with it and compared the two. Lucas retaliated with Purple Haze(never seen it, heard mixed reviews) which Universal renamed More American Grafitti.

Summary: Boom!
Review: Managing to avoid the all too familiar "Vietnam Rock 'n' Roll" movie style, this is without a doubt one of the greatest films ever made. Suberbly shot and with a brilliant soundtrack (I defy anyone to listen to "The Doors" song "The End" wothout thinking of napalm, surfing and the swish of helicopter blades). Brilliant battles, humour and a truly dark journey. Sit under the shower after watching it. You'll feel clean again eventually.

Summary: Greatest American film ever made !!!
Review: I saw this movie when I was eighteen, and "it really put the hook in me ". The film (which all good films should do) opens so many ideas of disscussion, it tests your own ideals of the meaning of life. The symbolism, and metaphors throughtout film are so well done, you truly appreciate the wizardry of Coppola. Never underestimate the power of myth.

Summary: One of the Best Films That I Have Ever Seen!
Review: This is one of the most epic masterpieces that has ever graced the silver screen. Douglas and Brando come through with the most powerful performances in their great careers. Robert Duvall isn't too bad, either. If you do not own this movie or if you have not seen this movie, you have missed a truly great life experience.
