Summary: Great movie, just a little lengthy
Review: The Patriot is one of the best films I saw during the summer of 2000. It is a step above most brainless action movies.

The plot, while based on actual events and people, has been greatly twisted and warped for a Hollywood story. I personally think the true stories of the Revolutionary war are much more interesting. There was a big media frenzy in England over the character of Mel Gibson's main adversary. Saying the cruel behaviour did not take place. Towards the end some of the plot twists seem more than a bit hokey. Example, the love interest between Mel and the character of his departed wife's sister.

The movie presents first-rate production values. The action is easy to follow even during the confusing and muddles battles of the Revolutionary War.

The acting is what you would expect in a big budget movie. The supporting cast provided the best in terms of it.

Weighing in at close to 3 hours, the movie does not slow down at all. There are almost no pauses to give you time to think how long this movie really is. This is a recomendation to see from me.

Summary: Even Canada Loves The Patriot
Review: This is a movie I guarantee you will embrace. It is a civil war tale of epic proportions. The acting performances logged in by both Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger are shoo-ins when Oscar ballot time rolls around. The cinematography and music are breathtaking. I believe that a film can never achieve excellence without first establishing a conflict, for conflict you need a villan and the Patriot offers an antagonist you love to hate. The widescreen transfer to DVD and the digital sound makes the Patriot worth purchasing. (Even in Canadian Dollars!)

Summary: Awsome!
Review: I saw this movie in the theater, and I have to say that it was one of the best movies that I have ever seen, and I have seen some great movies in my lifetime.

It demonstrated how barbaric the Revolutionary War was. And it captured how the American and British soldiers fought against each other.

I recommend that anyone that has any interest in war movies, buy this movie. I would call it the "Saving Private Ryan" of the Revolutionary War.

Summary: Patriot
Review: A beautifully photographed and well written historical drama based loosely on the revolutionary war hero THE GRAY GHOST. Mel Gibson shows why he is one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood today. Displaying a range of emotions from comedy to tear invoking drama this movie will take you up and down the scale of human emotion.

Summary: Haven't seen the video, but saw the film twice
Review: I haven't seen the DVD yet, but I saw the movie in the theatre twice, and I absolutely thought it was one of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time. Not only did it depict honor, integrity and principles, it showed an ordinary man in times of crisis turn to God for answers. Being a Christian, I was amazed and very pleased to see a movie come out of Hollywood that actually showed someone praying to God instead of blaspheming Him!

The action is incredible in this movie, but it is definitely NOT for the faint of heart. There is a LOT of blood and gore, but the overriding themes of love of family, courage in the face of crisis, and seeking after God in the midst of trials were enough to make this one of my all-time favorite movies. I will indeed buy this DVD!

Summary: What's the name of this movie anyway?
Review: If you've seen "Braveheart" you've seen "The Patriot". Sorry I don't mean to Dis Mel or any of his many fans I think he's as cool as they come, Problem is this movie just isn't very good. First thing the villians are just way to one dimensional. The gung-ho attitude shared by "All" who lived in the americas at the time of the Revolutionary War. Just not factual. Mel did this character much better in "Braveheart", Maybe because he was the Director? I don't know, But I do Know I've seen Roland Emmerich's other Films and they're not very good either. So See it if you absolutly have to,Or you could just watch "Braveheart" again and Save youself the $20.

Summary: Braveheart crosses the water
Review: Vengeance for the loss of a family member. It is the formula Gibson has used in such films as "Mad Max", "Lethal Weapon" and of course "Braveheart". But once again it works. This is a very entertaining film with well-staged action sequences. It's even written well enough to not be completely predictable. It follows history about as well as "Pocahontas" did but in spite of what Spike Lee might have said about it's historical inaccuracies, it doesn't pretend to be a historical drama, all it really wants to be is "The Road Warrior" dressed like Paul Revere. One element of the film that can be appreciated on widescreen DVD is Caleb Deschanel's stunning photography and yet another magnificent score from John Williams. Don't look for complex characters here. Everyone is either very good or very bad. Jason Isaacs's performance of the British Colonel is about as bad as any bad guy ever got. If you want good escapist fun, check this out.

Summary: Independence Day + Braveheart = The Patriot
Review: This movie really disappointed me! First of all, I am not an american citizen, and therefore this movie doesn't manipulate my national feelings...If you put ID4 and Braveheart (the fighting scenes) together, then you end up with "The Patriot". I love ID4 and Braveheart, but I didn't like this one. Why Mel Gibson in this movie?? They could just as well have hired Steven Seagal or Arnold Schwarzenegger, 'cause this would be the perfect role for them. If you're american, then you may like this one, but I guarantee you that you easily will forget the movie within those nearly 3 hours it lasts. It's just TOO american, and that is NOT a compliment for a movie nowadays...

Review: I am looking forward to buying this DVD because I seen this movie in the theaters twice and I loved every minute of it. Mel Gibson gives a Unforgettable performace as a former war hero protecting his family while fighting for freedom in the Revolutionary War. I am sure this DVD will surpass every DVD title avaible. So please buy this DVD from www.Amazon.com and you will not regret it in the least bit!
